Much prefer Smith to Kessel. Absolutely on board with G if the price is reasonable.
Smith will cost more. He's a much better rounded player and better player overall but Kessel despite being old, fat, and sorta sluggish is a Corsi God. Seriously, look at his h-ref page. It's ludicrous.

If the Rangers feel like Kakko can do some serious 2 way lifting on RW, Kessel fleshes out a serious weakness in some puck possession and shot creation areas they get dumpstered in at times. I think they go Kessel if they can expand the deal with a banger that BBKers alluded to..

Not necessarily. Vegas is going to need to clear cap when they activate Eichel.

Kessel is not a Corsi god lol. He's a below average 5v5 play driver at this point in his career. Reilly Smith would be a bigger improvement in terms of play driving without a doubt. I would much rather acquire him.

Honestly. If the thought is put Kessel with Panarin and Strome, then f' it. Those two play their pond hockey vibe. Kessel just needs to be open and hammer it home or play the angles and be where those two are not and thread loosies.

It's a waste to put talent that can skate with those two. They don't utilize anyone else on the ice accept Fox. A sniping garbage/last option shooter is perfect for them.

I’m not selling the farm to go all in this season but if they make smart moves I’ll be on board

It’s all gonna ride of Shestyorkin taking them as far as he can

How come this thread is not talking only about Panarin...? How come the whole sports world is not? Is the planet Earth the planet Earth just trying to fool me again? It's not going to work. You're all little Eichmann!

With Pacioretty having surgery, Smith probably won't be traded now, right?

CapFriendly has them at 92 mil, but with roughly 16 mil on LTIR. If they swap Eichel and Patches, they should still be good. If Martinez comes back before the playoffs, it will get tight, but they might be able to make it work depending on the players they send down/taxi squad.

You still feeling the effects of NYE? It's probably just a Covid roster move. Transactions are listed strangely this year with all the guys in & out.

Yeah, this is reasonable. We do lack a one dimensional shooter on the wing. And perhaps Phil would be motivated to do some damage against a former team or two in the playoffs. He scares me though.

Rasmus Kupari........

I have been saying this since like October. We need to move Robertson or Tuo, or something for Kupari. He's got the skills and potential to be an eventual 2C. He plays a physical game and doesn't lack in offensive potential. He can be a complete, 2 way package. And he won't necessarily cost the same as the top or "elite" prospects. Especially since he's destined, at least in the foreseeable future, to be relegated to the 3rd or 4th line in LA for many years.

I think he would slide right in to our 3rd line right now at center. Chytil would move to the wing. And then by next year, Kupari could realistically take over for Strome.

Honestly, at this point, having watched both Kupari and Turcotte in a few games this season, I think I would prefer Kupari. At least for the NYR's needs. Not only is he a terrific 2 way play with a fairly high offensive ceiling, not only does he play a gritty, physical game, but he's very good at faceoffs also with room to grow. And we so need that out of our 3C right now and out of our future 2C.

I don't know how likely this is to happen. But I think it is plausible. And I think, after a few extra months of watching him play, I want him for the NYR even more than I did in October.

And really, if we could get him for someone like Tuo or Robertson, it's a no brainer IMO. If they insisted on like Jones or Miller or Lundqivst, I would have to think real hard about it but possibly turn them down. Only because I think we can get a better, more elite prospect for Lundkvist, and the way Jones has looked in the AHL so far, he might be worth more as well.

But yea..... Kupari could be an absolutely perfect fit.

And I wouldn't want to move Chytil either. Lord knows we need upgrades at RW as things stand. Unless they're willing to make amends with Kravtsov and have him back, which honestly SHOULD happen as he's performing very well in the KHL. Just about on par with the way guys like Panarin, Kurachev and Kaprizov have performed at a similar age. But I honestly think he's worth more than Kupari now also, so if we did move Krav, would want an elite prospect in return still.

Maybe he quit because he wants to go to the Olympics? Who cares anyway... On to Pavelski and Chiarot... You win Stanley Cups with guys like that...
