Rasmus Kupari........
I have been saying this since like October. We need to move Robertson or Tuo, or something for Kupari. He's got the skills and potential to be an eventual 2C. He plays a physical game and doesn't lack in offensive potential. He can be a complete, 2 way package. And he won't necessarily cost the same as the top or "elite" prospects. Especially since he's destined, at least in the foreseeable future, to be relegated to the 3rd or 4th line in LA for many years.
I think he would slide right in to our 3rd line right now at center. Chytil would move to the wing. And then by next year, Kupari could realistically take over for Strome.
Honestly, at this point, having watched both Kupari and Turcotte in a few games this season, I think I would prefer Kupari. At least for the NYR's needs. Not only is he a terrific 2 way play with a fairly high offensive ceiling, not only does he play a gritty, physical game, but he's very good at faceoffs also with room to grow. And we so need that out of our 3C right now and out of our future 2C.
I don't know how likely this is to happen. But I think it is plausible. And I think, after a few extra months of watching him play, I want him for the NYR even more than I did in October.
And really, if we could get him for someone like Tuo or Robertson, it's a no brainer IMO. If they insisted on like Jones or Miller or Lundqivst, I would have to think real hard about it but possibly turn them down. Only because I think we can get a better, more elite prospect for Lundkvist, and the way Jones has looked in the AHL so far, he might be worth more as well.
But yea..... Kupari could be an absolutely perfect fit.
And I wouldn't want to move Chytil either. Lord knows we need upgrades at RW as things stand. Unless they're willing to make amends with Kravtsov and have him back, which honestly SHOULD happen as he's performing very well in the KHL. Just about on par with the way guys like Panarin, Kurachev and Kaprizov have performed at a similar age. But I honestly think he's worth more than Kupari now also, so if we did move Krav, would want an elite prospect in return still.
