> without a sturdy plan to replace him.
The plan was, one of the kids was supposed to step up and take that spot.
yea. I would have def preferred a 1st + Blais as the return, but obviously the thinking/plan was Kakko improving along with Blais and Kravtsov hopefully contributing and setting in as well. They also would have continued to have Gauthier as the spare.
That was plan. Basically have more of an open competition by committee to replace most of his production at a reduced cost with more long term control of all the youngsters.
While adding a more physical style of play in the form of Blais.
The situation went completely haywire. I highly doubt anyone was thinking we’d have no kravtsov or Blais for the entire year, and Kakko still struggling a bit to add points.
Even though he’s playing LW, Laf s slow development also didn’t help the situation.
Gallant said multiple times in the offseason he would have no problem shifting 1 of them, likely Kreider to RW.
LaF not being able to play those minutes Or look good on the right side, made that move an impossibility. At least at this current time in his development.
In theory, style wise, LaF should fit pretty good with zibby/kreider.
Like I said, it’s basically a perfect storm as to what happened and why our current RW depth looks like crap right now.
I don’t think anyone here wants Hunt as a long term option in the top 6 anywhere.
Getting him back with Rooney and Reaves would def be beneficial for us overall, probably as soon as possible.
Those 3 have really solid chemistry together and each player fills their role on the line very well.
