Knuble had a very weird career arc, went from a nothing player to a top 6 garbage man through his 30s and early 40s. if we got that kind of jump out of any of Gauthier, Hunt, Blais, or Kravtsov i'd be thrilled. The only one who looks anywhere near such a jump is Gauthier and even then it's a laughably small chance.

Knuble was someone they should have held onto in a non-cap era. He was traded because it was a regime change from Smith to Sather.

I talked about retooling in the prospects threads. If Neil Smith just left it alone after 1994 and kept all of the players/prospects, with a real coach the Rangers have a second wave of success in the late 90s/early 2000s.

Eight NHL team wish lists: Why the Canucks would like a time machine

New York Rangers: A redo

The Rangers moved top-six winger Pavel Buchnevich to the St. Louis Blues without a sturdy plan to replace him. Now that most of their options for the right side have failed, they’re missing a key scorer to round out their top lines. While they’re clearly higher in the standings than most expected, sitting third in the division and fifth in the conference with 42 points, there are holes in this team that could prove costly in crucial moments of the season.
While New York’s improved as the season’s progressed, they’re only 20th in their 5-on-5 expected goal creation. The Blues, on the other hand, rank sixth with their 2.75 expected goals for per 60, and Buchnevich has been a key part of it.

Shayna doesn’t miss

> without a sturdy plan to replace him.

The plan was, one of the kids was supposed to step up and take that spot.

yea. I would have def preferred a 1st + Blais as the return, but obviously the thinking/plan was Kakko improving along with Blais and Kravtsov hopefully contributing and setting in as well. They also would have continued to have Gauthier as the spare.
That was plan. Basically have more of an open competition by committee to replace most of his production at a reduced cost with more long term control of all the youngsters.
While adding a more physical style of play in the form of Blais.
The situation went completely haywire. I highly doubt anyone was thinking we’d have no kravtsov or Blais for the entire year, and Kakko still struggling a bit to add points.
Even though he’s playing LW, Laf s slow development also didn’t help the situation.
Gallant said multiple times in the offseason he would have no problem shifting 1 of them, likely Kreider to RW.
LaF not being able to play those minutes Or look good on the right side, made that move an impossibility. At least at this current time in his development.
In theory, style wise, LaF should fit pretty good with zibby/kreider.
Like I said, it’s basically a perfect storm as to what happened and why our current RW depth looks like crap right now.
I don’t think anyone here wants Hunt as a long term option in the top 6 anywhere.
Getting him back with Rooney and Reaves would def be beneficial for us overall, probably as soon as possible.
Those 3 have really solid chemistry together and each player fills their role on the line very well.

Buch was not about this year but about the future. If Buch is still here, there is no way Fox signs so early. Buch is still here and Hughes signs that crazy contract, the internet goes into meltdown over offer sheets for Kaako or Laf the following year.

The Rangers are a good team but they are not in prime time yet. They'll need a little bit of marination from the young guys, health, and much like the last run with AV, one of the young prospects needs to exceed expectations. They needed one of Fast/JT Miller/Lindberg to be a top six 60+ point player. This time they need one of Berrard/Cullye/Othmann and I'd even throw in Kravstov to be that guy plus they also need a guy like Korcazk or another center to grab the bull by the horns.

right. We know overall what we have, and what we have coming up for the most part. And they check a lot of boxes.
Some guys will allow us to moves some big contract guys hopefully in 2 years time or so, possibly even earlier when their NMC s change up.
That of course depends on a few different things happening though. This would be a hell of a time frame over the next 3 years if we can strike Gold like Tampa did with Point or Kucherov.
Neither of them were projected to be anywhere near the kind of contributors they turned out to be.
Hopefully we have at least 1 or possibly 2 guys in the system, or that we draft this upcoming season that literally blow the doors off their expectations/ceiling as a prospect and can become a key cog in the machine.
I don’t think we have anyone like that currently, even though we’re all hoping Cuylle, Berard, Othmann, korczak, Schneider, Robertson, and Jones are probably the cream of the crop we have prospect wise atm, None of the project to have that real high end status to become a much/point type player. all of them should be players for this team down the line in various different degrees.
I’ll add Barron to that group as well. Though he likely has a lower offensive ceiling then those guys, he’ll likely for sure be an NHL player for us. But if we can get lucky in this next 2-3 year Time frame that would be freakin hugggge.

NHL media says 12/28.
I really hope they don’t shorten the season.
It’s going to be interesting to see how they are going to make up all these games.
You can only cram so much into the Olympic break..
and with the way the league has been liberally canceling these games for everyone, I highly doubt we’ve seen our last cancelled game for the season either

its def got the potential to be worse for some. As far as the numbers go, they are probably always going to be in dispute. Once hospitals started to receive more Money/assistance based on covid deaths...... just saying, things get manipulated.
My bro and sis both are teachers. Their school closed. They got a phone call both were exposed. Both tested negative that day in the nurses office. Both tested positive the next day.
So my bro got 4 tests and it turns out him his wife and 2 kids are all positive.
Devastated my mother she couldn’t see her grandkids for Christmas.
Of the 4, my sis-in-law is the only one that feels any effects whatsoever.
She’s said she’s just tired, has a cough etc. basically a bad cold, or a mild flu for comparisons sake.
Not 1 of them thought they had covid.
By the time they were exposed, and the schools notified them 48 hours later, they had been to the supermarket, a Christmas party, picked their kids up from day care, various stores for Xmas shopping, etc
It’s an impossible situation to stop.
I hope your experience wasn’t too bad. I had it way back, bout a year ago. Same thing, I would say a mild flu. But if you don’t take care of it, I can see why it turns into pneumonia and things like that.

no clue what the correct choice of action is at this time. It’s hard to call without knowing how many more games they are going to plan to postpone.
But even you if you keep em out til the 2nd, I don’t think that would make a dent in the spread of it.
I highly doubt they want to go back to the bubble type deal either.
Nor will the want limited or no fans if they can help it..
I wonder if this will have implications on the TDL as well, if they might move it back if they extend the season for weeks??

Not trying to bust balls here, but are you a doctor/work in healthcare?

I had it. Most people I've spoken with who are vaccinated and took it really slow along with the proper nutrition and supplements were good to go about two months later.

That's not to say do nothing, but take it easy and gradually work back to normal. Keep the stress down.

The same way the handle the flu and other illnesses. It is beyond ridiculous at this point. The vast majority of these positive tests are asymptomatic.

I wouldn't say vast majority. Some are. The data needs to show that.

Last three people I know who got it all were TKO'd for a few days. First three days I had it I was run down.

There you go. If you have it, don't be a macho jackass and try to tough it out. Take it easy. Hockey players have access to all kinds of physicians and supplements.

Part of the reason I was good to go after 8 week and am back at the gym, living life, etc. is I didn't push myself. Took it easy and got a lot of turmeric/zinz/vita c/vita d/ginger/green tea. Just pounded it.

My friend up in the Northeast tried to hike like two weeks later and it knocked her the eff out. Too much too soon. There's a reason rest and recovery need to be at a maximum.

Chytil, Zac Jones, Kravstov, 2022 1st for Chychrun would be sick, and isn't gonna happen, but still
Lindgren and Georgiev dealt in offseason for cap, and Rooney walks
Lindgren, Lundkvist, and Georgiev could all be used in a deal to get an upgrade at RW or something

Kreider Zib Kakko
Panarin Strome Blais
Laf Goodrow Gauthier
Hunt Barron Reaves

Chychrun Fox
Miller Trouba
Nemeth Schneider

But, with our current cap space and good standing spot, we could acquire a rental like Reilly Smith and even another depth player like Pavelski. Just f*** it and go in for it

Kreider Zib Kakko
Panarin Strome Smith
Laf Pavelski Gauthier
Rooney Goodrow Hunt
Reaves

Chychrun Fox
Miller Trouba
Lindgren Nemeth/Lundkvist
