Does Jost+3rd move the ball? Young NHL caliber center.
Kaako is a bridge....no other choice....cost more down road..possible.... but its business
What are his bargaining chips? He's NOT getting a QO.Blais is on a 1.5m contract now, not sure why he'd take league minimum.
Blais' QO will be 1.6 mil, so 2.5 isn't that much of a stretch. I'd rather give him 2 mil per for 3 years though. We have players who may be able to replace him in the future (Othmaan, Cuylle...Barron if he plays wing).
I hope you are wrong. You need those firsts to keep a pipeline of talent on ELCs coming in or get a cost controlled asset that's ready to contribute. One playoff rentals aren't worth it IMO, I guess depending on the player.

Not sure why you feel the need to ram “the rebuild is over” down everyone’s throats. I don’t see anyone disputing that. I don’t see post after post wanting to trade Strome for a draft pick and a prospect.
The argument or at least my argument is that there is evidence locking up Strome doesn’t work - the stretch run last year when the ice shrank and so did his production.
The front office, Drury included, seemed to understand that and now are all giddy to lock the guy up because he is producing in open ice in the early part of the season.
The question is, can they actually be a legitimate contender relying on Zibanejad and Strome to play 40 min a night and take up $14M of cap space. They are two players whose current game, at least in my opinion, has questions both about being able to produce offense in tight conditions and how well they are able to defend. Handing out immovable contracts to both has the potential to nuke this window.
What are his bargaining chips? He's NOT getting a QO.
But you kinda suggested it as the only option.Did you read my entire post? I was showing that even by moving those players, they don't have cap space without a major move, assuming Kaako signs long term. Change the trades, but in terms of cap allocation, they were best case scenario as no cap was coming back
Okay, you think Goodrow is being traded after just year 1 as someone else suggested?
Why wouldn't he get a QO?

You need to 'qualify,' he hasn't... he's played like 50 games in 3 years or whatever, he's always injured. Why wouldn't he get a QO?
Up until recently, I would have said a Cup couldn’t be won with Strome as 2C but I’m changing my tune. I think he has really developed in the past couple of years. Especially this year.
Rangers need a mid 6 center that can be a go to go for key faceoffs
These days Chytil drives play about as well as Igor and Buch drive cars

Chytil, Lundkvist and Kravtsov should be good enough to get a middle 6c who can go on some cup runs these next 5 years.
I’d go back to our opening day lineup for a game or two.
panarin Stromer Kakko
Laffy Zibs Kreider
Hunt Chytil Gauthier
chytil and Gauthier play a simple north south game. That will be accentuated even more with hunt. Zibs line at even strength has been extremely opportunistic.
Gluten Free Bread and Butter was the best line we’ve had in ages
And that's also an option. It will hurt long term more than likely but it's a definite possibility
But you kinda suggested it as the only option.
What in the holy hell is going on in here?I would give Blais 4 x $10m right now. I'd be more than happy to give him more term at that number too if he would take it. He's 1 year from UFA, so if you give him a 'show me' deal, he could just walk.
Run the numbers…if Strome stays (which I advocate) at 5.333 then we have to dump/swap Chytil, Gauthier, Nemeth, and Georgie and even then It’s really really tight.
