This is my own personal bias and not based in any statistical analysis but I feel like Domi would take an annoying amount of minor penalties.

I also don’t really see where he fits on the power play here.
He won't get PP time, just like our kids dont get PP time. The issue that plagues him is probably similar to a lot of our guys... just stopped skating. Cherry picking.... but I feel like he used to always play well against us.

I’ll pay BIG for a goalie… if we’re gonna upgrade - let’s get a top shelf guy …
My #1.is in play plus more .
Huska would be our Talbot. Never pay for a backup goalie.

If a 1st+ is in play, we better be getting Gourde with retention.

I remember someone saying the Rangers were firm on 2 years. He wanted 3.

So, we lost Fast over that.... Gorton failed on that one
Didn't we also have Krav, Kakko, Buch on the team/in the system? I don't think he wanted to play 4th line.

Wasn't it reported Fast didn't want to come back with the direction the team was going, plus he wanted more term?
Yes, but the point I was replying to was that FO isnt going to make a move that's unpopular to the locker room at this juncture. Them not getting Fast to stay is about as unpopular with the locker room as could be, but they did it to save term. They will have no problems moving Strome if it improves the team in the near term.

Strome is leaving soon, and that will hurt the team. Getting a return for him will help mitigate that. We arent even flirting with the playoffs this season. Anyone watching this team even halfway objectively should know that.

So we let Fast walk and traded Buch for his replacement all while hurtling Kravtsov into the sun? That sounds like disaster personnel management.

The way that Trouba talked about Lindgren last night made it sound like there would be a mutiny if he's dealt any time soon. You don't give him 7 or 8 years after this one to take him to 34 or 35, but a 4 or 5 year deal to take him to 29 or 30 is perfectly acceptable.
i you were a teammate of lindgren how could you not love the guy with the way he competes and plays? you take him any day on your team. if we didnt have him here we would be talking about how great it would be to trade for him.

I'd be perfectly fine adding Domi. He has proven he is healthy, he won't be staying in Columbus past this year. With his struggles over the last couple of seasons he shouldn't ask for too much money or term and when he's on he plays like an 'ass' which this team appears to want more of. The team has plenty of cap space and he can play wing or center this season while they make a decision on whether they want to keep him around beyond this year.

Domi is actually pretty interesting as a rental. Cant imagine the price would be high (def not a 1st or top prospect) and he seems like a lightning in a bottle type player who could add something the Rangers dont have for half a season. Would it shock anyone if he had a Gourde-type impact in the bottom 6?

If it doesnt work out, just let him walk.

Domi seems like one of those players that plays better when he can rally the fans around him. When he gets the fans on his side he seems to relish in it. He would be one of those F you players that NY seems to like. Its an interesting option

Trouba isn't going anywhere and team's don't win Cups without a significant 30+ vet on the back end.

We need Pettersson way more than we need Trouba, period. Pettersson is an elite talent at the most important position on the ice, a position we have a gaping hole at, what's more (as opposed to a position we are chock full at and can't even keep everyone). Further undermining your argument, Trouba isn't 30, so..... he doesn't fulfill your requirement either, and is therefore disposable.

But I'm all ears for suggestions for - if you want to continue to try to cling to Trouba until he's been relegated to the third pair by being passed on the depth chart, which WILL occur in the coming few seasons - who else we could move to make this happen. It could probably be Kreider, but then we are thin on the wing since Kravtsov has also been moved in this package. Not sure where else we could free up space for Pettersson's $7.5m deal.
