Chytil, Kravtsov, Lundkvist and one of Robertson/Cuylle
for
Pettersson w/ $2M retained.

Is that fair value?

I feel Kyle Clifford will be a Ranger by noon today. He plays a similar game to Blais although more physical and has playoff experience. Couldn't hurt.

We have enough forwards... you can argue if they are 'good enough' but Gauthier deserves time, he's had impact on games... and if that falls apart, Barron deserves his chance in the top9

But he does provide physicality and Stanley cup experience something Blais has. Not the same type of player I know this, but both do bring some of the same attributes

I'd rather give the burn to Barron.

Play fil on the RW with Mika and CK. Let Barron play on the wing with Laf and Goodrow.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see a Hajek for _____(insert depth forward here) deal shortly. If Gauthier is playing every day, which it appears he will be, at least for now, the team would probably prefer to have someone who can sub in from time to time with the team normally.

Gauthier is awful. Rather have someone who is noticeable when he plays and Gauthier is just a much bigger version of Rico Fata

As with every injury, it's a chance for other players. Kakko is starting to get his groove back (hopefully). The really intriguing option is still Gauthier. Once you stop convincing yourself of his 'sky high' potential, theres the skeleton of a really unique and effective player still possible in there.

In the same way players like Kreider and Touch have thrives under gallant, I'm not ready to say for sure that Gauthier can't become a player for us. He doesn't bring the tenacity of Blais, but he does drive the net, he's one of the few actually FAST forwards we have, and he's never really had the chance to play consistently at the NHL level.

I'm interested in Tarasenko for sure, but they really can't afford him next season @ $7.5m. That's the crux. St Louis would need to retain or the Rangers would need to be 100% sure they:
1) aren't keeping Strome
2) can trade Nemeth
3) can get Blais and Kaako under $2.5m per season each
4) can trade Georgiev

That's a lot of things that need to line up perfectly. And even with those things, it's nearly impossible unless St Louis retains $2.5m.

I'd say I would probably prefer just singing Pavelski (if they could fit him) on a 1-2 year deal as a UFA

I'm not sure we can fit an $8m winger in here even if we let Strome walk. That's the whole reason we know we couldn't have afforded Eichel @ 10m.

He has actually been pretty good the last couple of games. Like it or not he is going to play with Blais out. His speed is much needed also.

He couldn't score on an open net. He has chance after chance. All those breakaways and nothing. When he has the puck I know that nothing will happen with him having it
