And I think they'll reach an agreement, at least for Zucc. It's the best solution for the Rangers going forward imo. They can't trade all the leaders and veterans, that's not a recipe for success.

Man you are pretty delusional if you think they are going to strike a contract agreement in the next week before the deadline after not having negotiations all season.

It is a ploy. They are trading them.

A plan is only good if you stick to said plan. Otherwise you are just throwing **** against a wall and hoping it will stick. Which is basically what this team will be doing if Hayes and Zucc are kept.

True. But let’s see what actually happens. It’s just one speculative article. And equally likely they’re just trying to raise the selling price.

How long has RangerBoy been a large part of your thoughts? If you can't say just mouth the words "HELP ME".
 
We're really only 1 year into the rebuild and the current team has actually taken some steps to be better.

Zibanejad becoming a 1C is huge. We're seeing things from Buchnevich recently. His injury came at the worst time. He was getting going, got hurt and is just now getting his game back. Vesey even looks like an NHL player, but I'd still try and trade him. Kreider is going to get 30, could get 35 if he gets hot. He's been a top line winger on the analytics side, but the points are coming this season. The progress of DeAngelo has not been linear, but he's playing as our best player on defense for a while. Nieves looks like an actual 4th line center.

We're going to get the young guys in two weeks. Howden will be back. Chytil will get ice time. Andersson will likely be up. Could see someone like Meskanen up too, depending on the amount of trades.

I do think we're going to see movement on the defense. We have quite a few guys who are in the AHL or will be in camp next season with a chance to make the team. Buying out Smith and Shatty would be bad. I'd rather just bury Smith and see what we can get for a retained Shattenkirk. There should be a market there. Right shot, can run a PP, two seasons at 3.325? Some team will miss out on Karlsson and are looking for offense could come to us. Stralman is the only other RHD on the UFA market worth something. Trouba is an RFA.

We may not pick top 3, but we're going to be adding another top prospect to our pool this summer. If we can get another 1st outside of Tampa's potential #31 pick, we could be add up to 8 1st round picks in the past 3 drafts.

Good post @JimmyG89. I don’t get why we are as up and down on some kids that we are. Buch will be fine, he is just finding his way. @SA16 made a great point in that now is the time to lock him up longterm, he will score consistent at a 0.5 PPG clip, at worst as long as he gets any kind of ice time, and that is what you will pay for too. Only upside. Some will ask, what is Buch good at? He thinks the game really fast and sees the ice really well offensively. The fact that he can score 0.5 PPG — despite — not always being there physically etc if anything proves that.

It was the same with Kevin Hayes a while ago. He was supposedly awful. He still displayed an ability to make plays that were really unique in this league. Just needed a little time.

One guy that really seem to struggle to get it is Jimmy Vesey. But — he is about as bad as you can be, and still be a serviceable NHLer. Still only upside on him. Pouliot needed many years before finding anything that worked.

I am more worried about someone like Names who the game is really fast for, who makes so many a bit low IQ plays. But OTOH, I never thought Kreider actually would round out his ‘hockey IQ game’ as much as he have...

Think its almost close to guaranteed the Avs will not be buyers. Unless it's a piece with term on their contract. May be just the Canucks out of the group that's not in the playoffs right now. Possibly the Hawks depending on how this weeks games go.

The NMC is the issue with both Zucc and Hayes.

Look at the issues those ****ing NTC/NMC’s have caused here.

A rebuilding team shouldn’t be locking themselves into long term contracts with that kind of clause.

It really doesn't look like there will be many buyers that are current sitting outside the playoffs in both conferences. Carolina and may be Buffalo in the East. Vancouver potentially the only team in the West as I mentioned in an earlier post.

It`s speculative u know - no one have inside information except Glen Sather, but he don`t have time to write love lettes on HF, or our versions of TDL. So we read the TSN list and talk about it, right? Well not like any of them have information what is going on in the last minute of TDL in the sport media? :)

And yes @Webster if you only going to talk about Zucc here - I would rather delete the account and do something else.

I would get bored really quick if I did not follow other hockey players within the same sport - just my view of Zucc. It can be frustrating as a fan, but when he is hot it`s fun to watch as well so two side of the coin. But anyway we are all here for different reasons so.

If the captaincy is in the Zucc negotiations they should sign him 4 years anyway, to give him time to help this team into a cup contender. Then it's easier to include the NMC. And perhaps he would leave some $$ on the table to get it.
 
I can see the Flyers buying and selling on Simmonds. Carolina is a buyer. They are desperate to end their playoff drought. The playoff teams are going to load up soon enough. Penguins are never done making moves. Columbus situation will come to ahead shortly.

Oddly enough, beating the Penguins tomorrow could be something that causes them to pull the trigger on something earlier. I don't think they envisioned themselves in a wild card spot.

Dallas needs to get in too, after the owner's comments, they will do what they have to do to get in. We could use a couple Coyotes wins over the next few days. Might not make them a buyer, but probably makes them hold onto their players to be in it. Panik and Weal might be bottom 6 guys, but they'd fill a team's hole. Vegas' name hasn't come up with anything recently. Curious what their plan is.

I think about one thing this saturday evening; maybe @bernmeister was spot on based on his view concerning Boo Nieves a future top 6 player? Who knows right now and that is quite interesting. :)
