no he wasn't, that is just not true...

Honestly, up until the Rangers won that lotto there were ALOT of people saying that. That tends to happen often though before people know where the big 1OA's lands and the bias hits.

For Lafreniere??? Kakko was compared to Huberdeau.
Yah.

Literally Central Scouting as per NHL.com:

1. Alexis Lafreniere (6-foot-1, 196 pounds),
LW, Rimouski (OMJHL)
2019-20: 52 games, 35-77-112, 40 power-play
points, 50 PIM, plus-41 rating, 261 shots on goal
Best assets: Playmaking, skating, compete
Possible NHL comparable: Jonathan
Huberdeau, Florida Panthers forward

NHL Central Scouting analysis:
"Exceptionally smart player with top-end speed
and a pull-away gear. He's great at carrying the
puck and leading rushes and executes under
pressure, has great vision and anticipation.
Lafreniere offers high-end puck skills and vision
to create plays, has an impressive compete level
every time he's on the ice, and elevates his game
in pressure situations while demonstrating
leadership skills."

Pretty much not at all. If I’m remembering it right, Kakko’s comp was regularly Rantanen.
Again, bingo...

More to that point is that kakko and rantanen train together in the summer, so people love connecting the two of them even after the draft.

Now as an nhl player everyone seems to be realistically hoping for poor man's hossa bc of his puck protection and two way game

Thats a style comp more than a caliber comp.

“Somewhere in between Mackinnon and Huberdeau.” Ie above Huberdeau and close to Mackinnon level.

“better than Jack Hughes, similar level to Auston Matthews”

Yeah, those narratives were BS from the start ... "similar level to AM" ... what a joke of a take.

Matthews is a franchise level talent, was before his draft, top 3 sniper in the game. Hopefully Laf can fulfill his elite potential.

I wont shit on Laf but he's nowhere near Mack and Matthews, never was and never will be.

Really wonder if Strome and Krav would be targeted in a package from Ott. Especially with Pinto out too

This fan base would have hung him after year 2/3.

Everyone needs to breathe a bit. We are a slight tweaking away in our middle 6 and probably 1 more year of growth from the kids from being disgusting. Already big leaps this year.

Will say again as i’ve said in past let Laf Chytil Kakko grow together.

If he could be a Tyler Seguin I’d think everyone would be happy.

Tyler started with similar production year 1. Granted on a Stanley Cup winning team

Nice to check in when there's not a lot to bitch about.

Glad most here are enjoying the 3 wins in a row.

Not only 3 wins in a row, but 3 wins on a grueling road trip when it's clear parts of the team are still not up to speed. Panarin does not look healthy at all for example, but the team manages to stay in games and come up with points.
