I'm gonna be of the minority here but I'd prefer to keep Zuc if all we get is a 2nd rounder for him. When I thought we might get a first I was all in on moving him but a 2nd could be nothing for a guy who bleeds for this team. He would ofcourse need to take a discount deal again. We could probably get a 2nd for Vesey if we needed another 2nd.

I'm just full of dumb questions today. Humor me.

IF we were to offer sheet Matthews or Marner, do we have to surrender our consecutive 1st round picks, or can we surrender any we acquire in a trade? And to expand on that, multiple in the same draft?

It's your own picks. Not ones you acquire from other teams. And yes, it's consecutive picks. Few exceptions should that not be possible.

So say NYR offer sheet Marner/Matthews for the highest tier with a contract that started with the 2019-2020 season. If they accept the deal, the Rangers would give up their own 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 1st round picks.

Here is a calculator for figuring this out: Offer Sheet Calculator - CapFriendly - NHL Salary Caps

Keeping Zucc after some hot performance would just be insane. If the Rangers make decisions like that, we will be entering another long-term dark ages period. This team is not good enough to compete and is not bad enough to get the first overall. Either we dump guys, get assets back and make the team worse to try and race to the bottom, or we are destined to exist on the periphery with a squad that is mired in mediocrity for a long time.

Lots of cap dollars on the way in to Pittsburgh for beyond this year. Is Florida going for it or are they going to flip Brassard and Sheahan who are both UFA's to be? Clearing cap?
Yeah, I have no idea, I feel like the panthers got the better players, and then Pittsburgh still tacked on picks. I wouldn’t be surprised if Florida tried to resign Brassard either

Are Bjugstad and McCann that much better than Brassard and Sheahan? I realize they are under team control but a 2nd + (2) 4th's? That seems like a lot considering Bjugstad makes $4.1m

That’s a good trade for both teams, Panthers could flip Brassard as well
