With rumors of Knicks and Rangers teams being for sale, anyone think we see a bugger purge than expected in the next 6 months?

I know there were other issues with Porzingis, but bigger picture there could be an edict to make the two teams as debit free as possible to facilitate the estimated Billions these teams are worth. Salary is always the first cut when business purge debt.

I don't think so, these franchises are so valuable and between the teams, the network and the building (not sure the Dolans are looking to unload everything) a 10million dollar contract is a drop in the bucket.

It's a fair and interesting question. But I don't think so. The Rangers came public with the idea taking a step back and rebuilding last year and really haven't done anything to stray from that path.

In the Knicks' case, I think the Porzingis trade was made with idea of spending big this summer—in addition to the basketball nature of this trade.

There are reports/speculation every 2 or 3 years about the Rangers/Knicks being for sale and nothing ever comes of it. I think Lil Jimmy likes owning the team and any connection of a sale is unfounded.

Porzingis was an asset. That's not clearing debt. They're going to shell out money next year anyway. Anyone acquiring that team for billions isn't going to consider being under the salary cap as a requirement.

I've heard good things about Roslovic despite his to date lack of point production at the NHL level. Haven't seem him play much though.

He scored last night from the Mika wheelhouse

I saw Winnipeg play the other day, Roslovic and Lemieux was a good pair on their 4th line. As to their production, they were very much used and played like a 4th line. High energy, get the pucks to the net. They have a very tough competition for the roster spots, the guys dressing are aware that they must play the way the coach likes to stay in the lineups.

Lemiuxe isn't without talent. Good speed and hands. A little balance issues, but who knows which guy becomes the next Wayne Simmonds in this league. You have to start somewhere, think Lemiuxe looks better than both Virtanen and that dude that went to Calgary. I haven't seen enough of Roslovic to comment on what kind of potential he has, looked OK, like a little faster Strome, in the very minor role I saw him. Nothing more could be expected though.

I choose to blame you too.

I've always been a Zucc fan but I think it's time to move on to the next generation. Just a gut feeling that he ends up reunited with Brassard in Dallas and they both sign new deals there.
I’d still add to try to make a bigger deal to get some of WPG’s younger guys. Their prospect drafting and development has been amazing lately, and they have plenty of guys on the cusp that can help form this next Rangers generation. Gorton wants size, skill, speed, and character? That’s Chevy’s entire blueprint.

Hard to analyze Staal's comments. Normally if a player say "who knows", instead of NO WAAAAAYY, it translates into 'Get me out of here as fast as possible', but Staal is of course more comfortable and outspoken in these kind of situations than a younger player would be.

With that said, its still a not a "never". He could definitely have said "never", me and my family likes it here, don't want to move.

I missed this. I don't even know the context.

The Rangers have something special with Zibanejad and Kreider combo. Zucc compliments that line well so they will need a playmaker next year to replace him.

Wouldn't the Knicks be in a perfect situation to collect a few top picks the coming years and then have all the cap space in the world to start to contend in a couple of years? What is all the fuzz about? Why 'must' they land the big UFAs next summer?

Good point, looking at Buch before he went down, he played really well and should be able to take over that spot.

I am not trading Buch before waiting to see how he will look after Zucc has been moved. In a sense its perfect that a younger player is tanking his value in a contract year. Imagine if he played on that line and got 65 pts instead this season? 6m per on a long term deal?

Basketball isn't like hockey.

You can add Kyrie and kd...and have Knox, zion. And whatever u get for dsj and win a championship.

In 1 year.

Beat me to it. Buch is the perfect fit there. Kravtsov too.

Both guys are great passers..but buch needs to move his feet. If he plays last night every game from here on out..he's a top 6 guy for sure. If he doesn't..he's a 3rd liner who disappears for huge stretches.

Can someone explain to me the hype over Lemieux and Appleton? Maybe I just don't know much about them. But wasn't Appleton like a 6th rounder?

Kreider and Ziba can play at a really high level, and looking at stretches the entire team have had -- so can the team.

The problems with a young team, any team not established at the top, is seldom that it don't have the 'highs'. Its that you get way to many and/or long stretches were you struggle. And you can basically not afford any of them...

If we take away the first 5 games of the season and our games from December 1 to Christmas we are a 20-11-7 team... Its two bad stretches that destroyed our season. BUT, to me that don't even remotely show that we are close. The hard part is not to be a 0.75 team for 50% of the season, its to not get into those ruts.

A duo of Ziba and Kreider would be great for any team. But are they the solution? They are both very inconsistent too.

Lemieux is a prototypical power forward who plays with a snarl. He's the type of guy who teams really hate to play against. He has some skill as well. At 21, he had 43 points in 51 games in the AHL. He reminds a little bit of a Ryan Hartman-like player, maybe with a little more truculence to his game.

Zibanejad and Kreider don’t have to be the solution. But they can top end support players..

I really can’t see how the Rangers dont get a first rounder in any deal for Hayes. If Winnipeg is being stingy about their first move on. Unless it for someone like Vesalanian.
