Exactly. Some people are acting like the guy scored 40 points last year instead of 14.
Not that points are the be all end all, but I've never seen this much fuss over a player signing a market value contract.

Honestly with Fox we are gonna have to give the 9.5 mill, i just hope its for 8 years. With the cap comparables that 9.5 is a bargain unfortunately given he's the norris winner already.
For some reason I started thinking about John Micheletti. God he is worthless. Do we really have to listen to him for like decades to come?

I'm not really seeing the Bargain that everyone else is.
5.75 over 8 years for a defensive defenseman is pretty expensive. He's a good player, but how good will he be when he loses half a step?
I mean some of that just reinforces the concept that GM's mostly ignore advanced analytics.True. Points aren't the be all and end all especially for a Dman but it seems the Dmen that are getting paid 8+ million are putting up significantly more points.

Sure, he isnt a 9M total package dman, but he was objectively really really goodI'm not really seeing the Bargain that everyone else is.

If I had to choose, I 100% re-up Zibs before the season starts. He will drop 50+ on his contract year then bend us over even more

Joe has some annoying mannerisms and go-to phrases but otherwise he's fine. He's a lot better than many of the other guys out there.

If we are hell bent on resigning him then now is the time to do it.
But I’m not convinced we are.
The criticism of Zibanejad as soft is ridiculous. He doesn't throw big hits and he doesn't grind much, but he is far from a perimeter player. His combination of strength, speed, and the ability to execute at speed makes him almost impossible to handle when he's on his game. We saw a lot of that two years ago when he would barrel through defenses on a regular basis. He just did not have that in him last year except for a handful of games. I hope we get that Zibanejad back this year, because it was incredible to watch.
Was Brendan Smith not at Skjei's wedding?
We know he loves weddings. Former defense partner and now teammates again.
