Been thinking about why they would be playing Hank so much, is it possible he has changed his mind on getting moved? Otherwise I have no idea why you would run him out there every night when we arent making playoffs.

No.

I think it's pretty obvious, it's a rookie coach who is trying to win every game.

It might be Gorton's plan to finish low and get a high pick, but Quinn and the players are trying to win every game, as they should.

So Edmonton needs to move out salary (no surprise). I have mentioned this before but I'd take Kassian on this team immediately. Send back McLeod and they can bury him with no issue with the cap. Bring him up for tougher games like against rivals like Calgary if needed.

He'd be a real nice addition on the 4th line as someone who can hit, make a play, PK and skate well. Plus he's one tough hombre.

That would clear $1.9m from their books

Agreed. I also think, with more road games coming up and the better teams turning it on after the new year, this team is in for a long winter with or without Lundqvist playing. We've gotten a sneak peak at how bad they really are over the last 4-6 weeks.

Is Edmonton sending us draft picks for doing this? Otherwise I don't see the point.

He's a reclamation project, for sure. But last year, he was a very useful 3rd liner. Bring him in, let him simplify his game and the Rangers have another guy who at age 27, probably would return a nice package at next years deadline. All the while providing some size and truculence while actually being a positive effect on the ice.

Every time I look at the standings, I despise the loser point.

It would really benefit this team to hit the skids for 5-6 games in a row.

Like starting tonight at Colorado. The Avalanche are in free fall. They have lost 6 straight games. They need to get their shit together.

Arizona on Sunday.

Vegas on Tuesday.

3 road games in 5 nights.

Day off on Wednesday. Travel back to NY after the Vegas game or on Wednesday morning.

Back home on Thursday against the Islanders

Back to back road games next weekend. At Brooklyn(1pm) and Columbus(6pm).

3 games in 4.

6 games in 10 nights.

They already lost to Pittsburgh.

This would be stretch to see the Rangers lose 5-6 in a row or lose 5/6 out of 7.

We add Names they give us 2nd..figure out salary issues that does not hurt Oilers

At 27, he's not a reclamation project and at 19 points, he's wasn't a useful 3rd liner last year. That's a pretty good 4th line number. Kassian has put up 3rd line production in one season in his whole career. He would likely return a 4th, maybe a 3rd next year if he really performs. Like I said, unless Edmonton is giving us something (at lowest, a 3rd) to do this, I think it's pretty pointless.

That's fair, I'd probably accept a later pick like a 5th or 6th to take him. In speaking with the Edmonton fans, Kassian was on the 3rd line and playing well. They didn't get much scoring outside of McDavid or Draisatl last year and Kassian isn't someone who drives a line but I think he can be a nice complimentary 4th line winger. I would agre, I would think a 3rd at next years deadline would be reasonable. Teams are always looking or a guy or two to bolster their depth and add some size and physicality to their lower lines.

Just spitballing here, what would be a good package be if Colorado asked for both Hayes and Kreider, I’m just two 1st would included (doubt the Ottawa 1st but who knows) in your guys opinion?

If we are trading them both Hayes and Kreider, they can start with the Ottawa pick and keep adding. There's no way that deal would happen in any case, but there's even less chance, if that's possible, if they aren't giving up the Ottawa pick.

Kassian doesn't drive a line but he does drive the penalty kill by virtue of having about the fifth worst penalty differential in the league.

For BOTH? And adding and adding and adding. Ottawa first, their first from this year and next, NOW let's get to the top prospects and young position players.

Id take Ottawa's first and their first. Anything else is just meaningless throw ins imo

Call me crazy, but Kassian doesn't move the needle for me one bit. If this is a rebuild, I want to roll the dice here and there. A Kassian swap is a flea market trade. McLeod isn't hurting the rebuild, he isn't single handedly killing the tank and he isnt blocking anyone. Let's see if someone overpays trying to find the next Ryan Reeves situation. I'm not counting on a 1st, but let's see what we can get at the TDL.

And Namestinkov is growing on me. Serviceable winger. I like his effort since the scratch. If Edmonton is calling, I don't see a reason to trade that particular player at a discount. Hold that dude's feet to the fire. Pool party isnt enough. Add a 3rd and I'll talk.
