Vally's too smart to leave his cushy analyst gig for this entitled bunch of quitters. Maybe when there's finally a complete turnover of the roster & some exciting prospects in the system again he'll decide he wants to be making some in hockey ops. Until then, I think he stays on the sidelines where he gets paid to offer his opinion from the studio or the comfort of his living room.Vally for head coach.
Maybe that’s the reason he was scratched at seasons end? Didn’t want to risk an injury . Deal in place. Get it done Sather.Definitely Perreault+ to play with Smith again.
He's shown that he'll try. He coughs it up like he had bad seafood. Same thing with Kakko and his puck control that we kept hearing about.
He just isn't that good.

Too bad he showed nothing remotely resembling this from the moment he signed that contract extension. This team has a giant leadership problem, but at some point it's up to Laf to decide if he wants to play his entire career as a passenger or actually take the next step & become an all-star. After 5 years, so far last season was the outlier & he regressed hard to the mean.
He's definitely an asset that hopefully the org takes advantage of, if he wants more responsibility. If Drury was smart (he isnt) he would hire Vally to be an "advisor to the President" or some shit. I'm not convinced that he'd know what actual players to acquire but he has his finger on the pulse of what ails the team generally.
Definitely disappointed in his play this season. At least with Kakko I felt like we knew what he was which was a solid third line RW. With Laf, he gives you moments where he looks like an all star and then proceeds to float around the ice and dissappear for the next 15 shifts.Too bad he showed nothing remotely resembling this from the moment he signed that contract extension. Oh cool, we're posting plugs scoring nice goals?
This is about as critical a piece written on our shitty GM by anyone in Rangers media.

After firing 3rd coach in 4 years, Rangers GM Chris Drury stands alone — and is running out of cards to play
This can't be the way to run a team, where coaches and players and even staffers are fearful of what's coming next.www.nytimes.com
What’s it say for us without a sub to the athletic?
Last season Laf was showing some flashes. This season they were almost non existent after the first 15 games or so. Next season may tell the story for his career direction.Honestly even the whole "Laf is SO FRUSTRATING, one minute he looks like a STAR and the next minute he looks like a plug" mantra is getting tiring.
He pretty much never looks like a star player. He never carries play on his own. He rarely creates his own opportunities. Expectations have been dampened so much that him being a semi-competent forward in conjunction with spending all his time on the ice with a top 10 forward in the world (Panarin) is enough to get people around here excited about him.
