The Soucy addition is interesting. Buying low, but the upside is there.

I still think the D needs a healthy Fox and that top pairing LHD to go with him.

I’m also curious to see Drurys moves in the summer. I see the vision.

Nice job bringing his wife info the situation
The only time his wife was brought up through this entire thing is when I put quotes from an article where Trouba himself mentioned his family

How did this start again? Someone commented that we were bringing in bottom pair Dmen, and I said that that was better than Trouba because of his play and because of his attitude. The attitude got questioned and multiple people said something back. Then instead of answering that it deflected to well I woulda quit too, then multiple people answered to that, and now it is deflected to talking down to someone for bringing up his wife which the poster didn't do?

I get someone not wanting to blame Trouba for how he acted. I get someone not liking the Rangers front office decisions. It's perfectly fine to have the opinion that your subjective view of attitude issues didn't apply to Trouba here. Other people just disagree. Good for Trouba that he is happy. I hope $56 million helped salve his trauma of living in New York and California.

Anyway - back to the trade deadline

Hope that the Rangers aren't done. Zacha is someone still very interesting to me

You're the one who is bringing that up. Nobody here mentioned her tonight.

Regardless, he accepted a trade 3 months later, so obviously his wife's job wasn't the big deal it was initially made out to be.

You guys are just sour on a guy who didn’t want to be here anymore after he knew the organization wanted to move on.

I’m just tired of seeing players, former or current get thrown through the mud.

If you look at many of the teams who do well in the playoffs, they have a group of depth d-men who are large, use their reach and play physical. There often all around the same skill set and honestly, even a team like the Panthers last year, had a group of just ‘big guys’. Mikkola, Kulikov, even Ekblad is kind of mid. The path appears to just get solid depth so that you can spread out roles and get guys who can defend around the net.

Side note also, any player the Rangers would be signing in the offseason likely would require a multi-year commitment. Maata, Orlov, Provorov, etc. It may be a small detail but Soucy’s contract is up after next year which coincides with when the team may want some cap space and flexibility

There is no ((dream)) LHD for this team at the moment, if some of you are looking for players available that'll blow you away there's really only Quinn Hughes in the next couple years. There is a definite chance he'll want to be back in the NY-Metro area but I doubt it's to play as a blueshirt and it's almost written in stone that he'll go play with his brothers in NJ.

There is no quick fix at that spot right now and I think Drury is going to put all his faith into Key Miller being the high-end ELITE guy for our LD down the stretch instead of wasting away young assets to bring in a true top-4 because everyone wants to try and fleece us.

Soucy is more effective than DeHaan I'd say and with the emergance of Jones we now have a bit more versatility.

I hope for Zacha tomorrow. I think that would be a sneaky addition to this core.

Can't help but wonder about Schneider here. People spent 6 years sucking all the oxygen up about the lottery bros, but Schneider is going on 5 years here unable to be more than a decent 3rd pairing PK guy.

If teams are still high on this guy, I don't know what the rangers are doing holding onto him much longer.

I wanted them to use the Schneider pick to trade up for Lundell.

I was right!

If our top pick of Mr. Lafreniere was even close to his potential we would be closer to a contender than mid.
Can't put all the blame on one dude.

If even one of our multiple top 10 picks over the last 10 years hit.... We would be closer to a contender than mid.

These guys are pro athletes who get enough special treatment simply for existing. However, part of the deal when you play pro sports is very few guys get to set their own terms & even fewer get to spend their entire career in one city. In exchange for that, they get paid more money in one calendar year than the majority of us will see in a lifetime. They also never have to work a real job for the rest of their lives. Sure they get criticized & some of it crosses the line, but they can choose to ignore it & they never even need to know it exists if they stay off social media or don't read the papers.

If he knew the team wanted to move on, what was the point of blocking trades last summer when he could've extricated himself from the situation? Instead he chose to strong-arm the team into bending to his will...which they did. But even that wasn't good enough for him, so he went into the season with a chip on his shoulder & phoned it in while collecting his paychecks. Fans of this team deserve better, especially from a guy whose play hadn't really lined up with his salary in past 2-3 years.

If I'm getting paid $8M a year, there's little I care about. Defending his behavior is ridiculous.

Wayne Gretzky was traded, Jagr was traded, Bobby Orr was traded. Spare me any of this outrage that somehow he was so wronged because he wasn't playing well & the team wanted to move on. And when all was said & done he wound up getting paid to play hockey in a place where it’s sunny every day & the golf courses are always green.
Also it’s just plain good for the sport for teams to have the ability to move players over their objection.

The teams should have more control. It’s not about ownership. The fans pay for all of this at the end of the day. We should want the teams to have the ability to move out underperforming players.

I didn't say anything about his wife, so I have no idea what you're trying to say. Maybe you are conflating my comment with something someone else said.

His wife doesn't play for the Rangers. I don't give a shit what she does.

Jacob had 2 viable choices: take the trade in the summer or choose to stay and play hard, as we expect of any player, but especially the captain. He chose to stay and then pouted about it. I can't imagine why you would defend that.

Fair enough. But he was the first overall in my lifetime and for most Ranger fans. He has had 9 shots in 12 games in a playoff run.
He was great in the playoffs last year. He should be building on that.
But you're right the entire top 6 is to blame for the most part.
