I guess we're kind of in agreement, but this entire paragraph is basically saying that. Every defenseman on the team has gotten worse under Housley (the forwards have gotten worse defensively too) and if Lavi were as smug as AV and Gallant he'd be despised as much as they were by the time they were fired.
his linemates were also on the PP and he wasn't, so the discrepancy isnt as big as it looks.Other than Panarin and 2 JT Miller games and funny enough a Will Borgen game, the Rangers have not had a guy be the best player on the ice and drag the team to a win all year. Every non-goalie on the team is a complimentary guy. All of them.
Lafreniere being a complete passenger for 95% of the games this year is the biggest culprit of their failures this year. They needed him (and Kakko and Chytil) to step in when the core aged and not a one of them stepped up.
When you look back at it Laf had 57 points in a year his linemates had 120 and 77 and like three nice playoff goals. Woop de damn doo. Cashed his 50 million and gave up. He goes too.
The Rangers were arguably one of the worst teams to ever win the presidents trophy. I mean literally everything went their way last season. The amount of comeback wins, the amount of 1-goal games they won. Their goal differential at 5v5 was +1. That’s awful for a team that won the presidents trophy and might be the worst mark ever. They won the President's Trophy last year. This season was a disappointment but the woe is me stuff from Rangers fans is part of this culture too. We have no patience and are not owed anything just because the team has been around longer than most. Move on from the vets who have been here 7, 8, 9+ years and haven't gotten it done. The younger part of the roster is absolutely salvageable. We'll compete next year as long as this loser mentality is done away with.
Is it though?Even if they pick top 10 this year I’m convinced they will trade it
Drury doesn’t give a f*** about 3-4 years from now when that pick will play. His ass is on the line in the next 18-24 months

If last season wasn’t the biggest fluke season ever I don’t know what was.
Going back to 2007-2008, the next worst goal differential at 5v5 for a presidents trophy winning team was +9 by the 2008-2009 Sharks.
Yeah, T.B is a case where you have a real good coach and real good front office working in concert. Even when they make mistakes (Jeanott), they admit their mistake, correct it and move on as quickly as possible.Yeah I’d say Cooper is like the current pinnacle of coaching in the NHL. Even then not that hard when you have Kucherov, Point, Hedman, Vasi, and then the myriad of insanely good depth players on top of those guys
Competitive but never good enough, so frankly in the end it’s all the same shit anyway. When will this team ever be excellent? They’ve been excellent a couple times in the past 30 years. Tired of the mediocrity. The original poster was talking about how the Rangers are never competitive. Regardless of the underlying numbers, they've been more than competitive.
And I'm also aware that every good thing the Rangers ever did was a fluke.
If the last three seasons have a modified NTC, he can be waived. The Rangers may not be able to waive Kreider considering he has a NMC for his entire contract per CapWages (different on PuckPedia so who knows which is correct). CapFriendly listed him with a NMC for the whole deal and a modified NTC the last 3 years so I'm assuming that's correct.

You don’t think a team with the worst goal differential in the last 20 years of a presidents trophy winning team isn’t flukey? Be objective.

He's the #3 guy on every line he's on. Sam Carrick lugs the puck better than he does.his linemates were also on the PP and he wasn't, so the discrepancy isnt as big as it looks.
But he's been a joke this season, no doubt.
You can't combine the two...you either have a NMC or NTC. CK had NMC the first 4 years of contract -- which means he could not be traded, waived or sent to the minors without his permission. The NMC changed to a modified NTC in year 4 -- which means he can be traded, waived or sent to minors...however, he can only be traded to the teams on his list. It's the same situation as Goodrow. Not if it's a NMC with a modified NTC. Can't be waived but can only be traded to 15 teams. That's what both CapFriendly and CapWages have.

You do realize that Zibanejad is ahead of Kreider in being "one of our best ever Fs" with 200 games less played?I have been inspired to come up w/a solution to what to do about Kreider.
I am not sure, but I think if a guy 111% retires due to injury [as opposed to a buy out and the guy becomes a free agent], I think there may be some flexibility that could serve us here.
Say we buy Kreider out immediately, every penny.
We give him a contract as a specialty coach so he can hang with the team and try to help Rempe and some of the other big guys knocking on the door in a season or 2.
We also say IF and when his back is 111% sufficiently healed, THEN and in that event, we will give him a full chance to return as a player. It is agreed this cannot take place until calendar year 2026 at the very earliest, and may be longer if league rules require same.
Now we did the right thing by one of our best ever Fs, and we recover full pop on CK salary.
Side benefit is it sends message to shesty, zib etc we are breaking it up, this can be easy, or it can be rough
Is there any NHL rules/protocol that dramatically disallows the above scenario?
First practice since before the trade deadline LMAO

I dont know man. I still carry some hope that I will get through to him. You'll got a more nonsensical response if you address this to your nearest wall.
I want him to stay for the retool. We kinda know he has zero f***s trading or getting rid of players, no matter who you are. If we get a new GM he may be stupid and try to work with the country club boys and cater to them, then we solve zero problems.
Even with a disaster of a season, after two trips to ECF in the last 3 years I think Drury will get another shot if he's able to sell Dolan on his vision going into the next year but I don't think he will survive past Christmas if it falls below expectations. I bet Drury will try to sell that this horrible season is not a true indicator but an outlier where everything that could go wrong - did go wrong, that the actual base line for this group is already solidly being a playoff team, that most hard work has already been down and with only a couple of remaining changes - the team will be a contender next season. If Dolan buys this - Drury will stayThis season has been a disaster of epic proportions. I don't think it's going to be a complete clean out but I can see major major changes and I'm not sure too many players are going to be safe. My guess is Igor will be if only because of the massive deal he signed and probably not Quick either. Will Cuylle I would think is safe. Probably JT Miller. Anyone else on the main roster could move. I don't think Laviolette is coming back even if we do make the playoffs. My guess is Drury has less than a 50% chance of coming back. Laviolette will probably get a new job down the line. If Drury gets axed I think his days as an NHL GM will be over. He'll never get another.
Be careful what you wish for in regards to firing Drury. There is a high likelihood the replacement is worst. It's going to be Holland or Chiarelli. I kinda like Brendan Shanahan if we're looking for a Rangers connection in a guy with executive level experience.
What does it (possibility of being worse next year than this) have to do with JTM - who got here essentially for Chytil? If this team drafts this upcoming draft (13 or better) no way can they trade or let go of Panarin unfortunately.
Having no first rounder in 26 and risk of letting the Penguins get a top 10 pick or worse!
They probably feel the same way about 93 ugh!
The team has to be competitive next year. That is exactly why I did not want the JT Miller trade because of the possibility this team would miss the playoffs this year and possibly be worse next year which is looking more and more likely. Teams around us getting better next year as well. Plus we keep playing our future guys like Berard and Othmann 4th line minutes and scratching them.
