  • We're expecting server maintenance on March 3rd starting at midnight, there may be downtime during the work.
I'm gonna lose my mind if after we've purged the old dead weight off this team and are forced into playing younger players we go on a heater, because most of us wanted this in September.
It happens a lot with teams who purge.

If they keep in interesting that's ok. The worst thing to happen is finish 14th worst, out of the playoffs, and then have Pittsburgh win the draft lottery and move up ten slots.

Like the fact that Drury is getting out in front of D Day. Seems like in the past, our plan B and C options were no longer available when the grand plan failed.

After Smith goes we’ll see what happens with Jones, if Domingue has any value, and whether one of Krieder or Pan go now or in the offseason.
Yeah exactly. Seems like he’s trying to get the obvious business done now to be able to be patient at the deadline. If someone blows him away on an offer for someone like Kreider or Schneider, he can take it, otherwise just wait until the summer.

Even with Lindgren, Vesey and soon Smith gone, this team is in about the same spot for this year as a bubble team, so it’s just about collecting assets to make moves this summer.

You guyss are nuts if you think McDavid will want to come to a rebuidling Rangers team filled with prospects and draft picks.

If he decides to leave the Oilers he probably want to come to a team that already have guys like Mika, Panarin and Kreider.
i dunno.

Perreault McDavid Zibanejad
Cuylle Miller Lafreniere
Othmann Parssinen Trocheck
Rempe Edstrom Berard

kinda f***s

Nailed it.

We would have the pick if that happened, it’s top 13 protected, the lottery plays out with the conditions in place.

Not for nothing but why is Brodzinski in over Kaliyev. I guess it’s not a big deal but I’d like to see all the younger players get a good run.
b'c Brodz is actually good, and has shown flashes of it when he has chemistry w/linemates
his prob, not his fault, is he sits too much and too many line experiments so no
opportunity for familiarity -> chemistry
He is worth keeping and a better player than Kaliyev overall

Kaliyev is lost in the defensive zone. Lavi doesn't have use for that. I'd give him a one year QA and let him train his ass off this summer, but the Rangers may let him walk.

Dallas in theory would be a good trade partner for Kreider. Rangers can even retain 50% this year and less each year (30% next and 10% the final) the issues:

-Their first rounder would have to be next year as this year's is used up
-Bischell who is an obvious target is out with a concussion. No bueno.
That Bisch is currently unavailable to Stars for playing purposes means now is the right time to make a play for him
The concussion further drives the cost down.
There is risk, but acceptable/worth it

And again, selling low on CK is not smart
We need to move bread, he is the fit here

Likely that Jones is going to go somewhere.

I don’t think De Hann has a market.
prob correct but cheap expiring ufa still gets a 7th as insurance
maybe we add a 7th, get a 6th, like that

Idk about anyone else but after years of rumors about Kreider being moved, only to trade him when his value is probably at its lowest would lowkey kill me inside
Notwithstanding that this foolishness about deal Kreider now [when all our efforts should be on cutting the cancer that is Zib] has only been after a couple of months into this season, I agree
dealing when value is lowest IS stupid
if back etc rebounds even if he is not the same player for a full season, I could see after next season he stays w/us cheap proportionate to his ability to play/stay in the lineup

I hope they go on a tear and make their first as late as possible since the Pens own it
if I'm not mistaken we can keep it this yr if we are 13th or worse
granted, next yr is a better draft yr but we have a whole yr to come up w/a pick
shooting for 8-9-10ish this yr prob a better strategy

I dont think they can move up 10 slots. Isn't the lottery only for 1,2,3?
We would have to finish 13th for that to even be an option.

Kaliyev gotta show it during practice. Sometimes you gotta make the coach play you by being undeniable

There's no reason Brett Berard can do it and Arthur Kaliyev can't.
Maybe, all we can go off of is what the players show during the games since we aren’t at practice. It’s whatever he’s not a long term piece here in all likelihood.

So if they finish with the 14th worst record don't they forfeit the pick as top 13 protected and it can still move up albeit not to a top 3?

I'd be careful with physical players and concussions.

McDavid will resign in Edmonton. Draisaitl wouldn't have resigned without knowing that first.
Even if the bolded is true, there's 2 years between Draisaitl signing and McDavid signing. Things can change.

I don't think it's likely that McDavid will leave Edmonton, but I wouldn't rule it out.

In either case, I'm not banking the Rangers' future on it. But neither am I jumping to acquire the first star who becomes available because I'm afraid of missing out. Maybe what we need isn't a 14+ mil player. Maybe we'd be better off with two 7+ mil players instead. Maybe we'd be better off with three 5+ mil players.

We need more players who will outplay their contracts. Paying top dollar for the best UFAs is pretty much a guarantee that we will get a lower ROI, even if that player's name is McDavid.

I think he has a versatility issue where he fits a certain spot or not at all, hence his deployment in his career. I hope he figures it out.

Ok so I had a misunderstanding. They will put the rangers ball into the lotto, but if it wins it ends up at 4 instead of 3.
Sorry for that.

Any idea where Smith is going?

I've been out of the loop for a while.
Could be anywhere, at 50% retained his cap hit on the year to a team is less than 2 mil, so almost every playoff contender or hopeful can fit that in. I'm guessing he gets a 2nd + a little more wherever he ends up. Somewhere like Detroit would be ideal since the likelihood of their pick being closer to 50 than say a team like Edmonton.

He does suck...this team went to the eastern conference finals 2 of the last 3 years and we're now slinking our way around the bottom of the conference, trading players for pennies on the dollar, I'm not sure how anyone could think this is good. The only move I've liked is the jt Miller one.

You think this trade is selling Lindgren on pennies on the dollar? What exactly were you expecting? A 3C and two mid picks, one of them being a 2nd rounder. What exactly were you expecting? This is an insane take.
