Speculation: Roster Building thread - Part XVII - (TDL is March 7th)

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates
  • We're expecting server maintenance on March 3rd starting at midnight, there may be downtime during the work.
Now that the whipping boy is gone I think it will be interesting to see if everything changes here. Heard for over a year that if trouba was gone the d would be fixed, it's still a tire fire. Lindgren has been the most intense target since trouba has been gone. Eager to see if people are right this time and everything will be fixed. Both players have been referenced as addition by subtraction. Was the case with trouba until borgen came in and settled down. It will be interesting with lindgren and his spot next to fox.
Straw man... There isn't an addition by subtraction move to be made with this team.

The core is rotten with a severe lack of talent up and down the roster.

Kind of wild how quick the roster has changed, Trouba, Lindgren, Chytil, Kakko and will throw in Vesey here all gone in the past 3 months.
Every one of those players, except for a few moments of Chytil (when healthy) were negatives throughout all our playoffs the last 3 years. Good cleaning. More to come.

Drury has his faults for sure. But on the whole he has made swift work of a very deep clean of this roster thus far - especially of a team that just won the President's trophy last year and was 2 wins away from a Cup appearance. Analytics and logic aside, you rarely ever see a team willing to gut like that.

I never said the Stars would make that deal. All I inferred was if they did then Drury should jump all over it.

It's curious your affection for this one player. I mean we've had years and years of your trying to trade every other vet on the team with only this one exception. Kreider's 33 now but even if he gets his health and scoring prowess back we're talking here about a very young left side d-man with lots of size and a physical game to go with it---an LD is a bigger need right now than LW and IMO the Rangers really need to fix their D. We gain at least 10 years on Bischel besides. Plus the addition of the Dallas 1st rounder even in a kind of mediocre draft year gets us even younger. For pretty much anyone else you'd be all over this.

With few exceptions every other vet on the team in recent years has not delivered as ck has and is not the value delivered he is.
We forget that up until past coupla months, ck was one of few who delivered legit beast factor in our lineup.

And my pt remains.
It is needlessly stupid to trade Kreider for less than close to full value, presuming an honest eval comes to that conclusion of trade = better than keep -> which depends on the return -> which necessitates peeps admit highly unlikely a suitor will pay top $ for injured kreider

Now as to Bisch I am for getting, but shoe on the other foot, since Nil is not gonna be stupid and overpay for damaged Kreider, the answer there is bread

I agree we need to upgrade at LD and elsewhere, but we need multiple help in multiple areas, so we have to be careful playing these cards.

In addition to Bish, we should be targeting Kleven from OTT, and Clarke and Dvorak from LAK

Smith to Washington for a 2nd (theirs) at 50%
a 2nd is most we can hope for and if this is the best one, jump on it
