Peep the last 2 winners, they've skewed older. Florida wasn't brewing with young home grown talent. That roster was almost entirely put together via trades and UFA.

Same with the last 4 finalists.... Really basically every finalist between now and forever.

They should be looking for younger, long term solutions in some spots (1LD) but if you can get a bargain, you take the bargain no matter how old the player is.

You want to get rid of Mika, Bread, and Kreider. Mika has same amount of goals as J.T., though Zib probably played 10 more games. Bread has over twice as many goals and close to 20 more points. Kreider has 6 more goals in about same amount of games, and in fact when Kreider was Millers age(2 years ago) Kreider had 36 goals on the year. But we say Miller won’t age as bad as our guys. Looking at his stats, it seems he already has. And we say he plays a more physical style. Well those who play a more physical style tend to break down sooner.

Larry wrote a puff piece and when someone asked Lavi about whether readers have emerged post-Trouba, he answered with Tro and Lindgren.
So then, naturally, HFNYR hive mind got to work and Lindgren at $6.5mx5 is now reality

People want to win a SC. People don’t believe our current players can do that. Therefore we need better players. Where do you propose these players come from? We are incapable of drafting said players, so we must trade for them or sign FAs. This is the kind of player we must take a chance on. Eichel was another.

once again, wasting the top defenseman they lucked into
people are gonna look back at fox's career and go "what the ever loving f*** were the rangers thinking"

e: though I will say I don't think Drury gives a shit about Lindgren emerging as a leader or any of those things, if he wants to trade/dump him then he'll do it.

It's standard overreaction.

Brooks has always gone to bad for bad defensemen who are "defensive" defensemen. He did it with Girardi and Staal and will jump through hoops to do with it Lindgren as well. A few weeks ago he got mad because people were saying mean things about Lindgren. Can guarantee that he wouldn't have stepped up to defend most of the other guys on the team if they were on the receiving end of similar vitriol.

Lavi said he displayed real leadership the last few weeks but hes always had a hard on for the guy. He claimed he was "awesome" last year when he clearly wasn't.

Just people trying to connect dots where they probably don't exist but with this organizations obsession with committing to shitty players of this type, who f***ing knows.

Drury did just unceremoniously behead the teams 2 most vocal leaders(not saying much) in the last 6 months. I don't think he's thrilled over Kreider either.

What if its a sign and trade??

I know its not the NBA and not sure that ever happens, but im holding out hope if there is any validity to the rumor.

I've felt all along that he will be dealt at the deadline or left to walk in the summer. If Drury straight up extends him theres something seriously wrong with this franchise.
