Trading Fox is brain dead, we’ll be looking for our next #1D for 15+ years.
guess again
he is slow now and can adjust short term
but as time goes on this will eventually not be the case
IF you got the right partner -- you'll never get Sanderson, but he'd be the guy -- that would help
BUT it would still not undo the underlying reality

I get he's a fan fave and he deserves that
but either we sell high now or we are married to him for the duration

so rebuke me all you want, we'll see how long it takes for me to be proven right

We should be trying to get more Trocheck’s not shed Trocheck
In a vacuum, as a rule, huge yes
Howev, if a deal in totality = too much profit to turn down, that is exception to the rule

It's an NMC. Also constructed to be pretty much buy out proof. He negotiated it to stay in NY.
He wanted a choice. Doesn't mean he will insist on staying where he is not wanted anymore than other guys with nmc or ntc insisted on staying when they were not wanted. Very few guys stay for long in pro sport cities after declining trades.

I guess I'm late to this party.....I am all for getting a 1LD -- my question is how this can happen? Who/what do we trade to bring in such a high level player? Just asking.
Rangers have assets. Not saying that Schneider will be in JTM trade but who said a he can’t be moved in the right deal. Miller still RTA but not committed to with long term contract. Already mentioned Kreider. If I had to put money on anything it would be that if a good LD is coming with Kreider going the other way.

I know Vince said Schneider isnt going anywhere but we all know that can change. Any chance of prying Power out of Buffalo for Schneider++? They have a glut of LD and desperately need a RD.

Power - Fox
Miller - Borgen

would be very nice

i hope not. My thinking is that signing Borgen to a 2RD salary and deploying him in a 2RD role "justifies" trading Kakko
okay i was over the number by 25%, pretty wrong, but had the overall contract value correct.

also - no way to prove it but i stand by my assignment of the rationale, that establishing his value here as a top 4 defender, and *paid as such*, has a lot to do with framing the Kakko trade as a win.

How’s this a mess? The only bad one is Zibanejad’s with all restrictions and price to performance ratio. Kreider and Panarin are movable and valuable (and tbh - 3*$8 for Panarin after his current contract expires could be a pretty reasonable deal).
Panarin has a NMC and has plot armor here.

what do Miller and Cuylle get?

I can say with relative certainty that this is not the case at all

Frame it to who? Dolan's not demanding an After Action Report of a Kaapo Kakko trade.
