Oof this is bad

Guy looks miserable to be there

No one forced him to resign with them. He could have said no especially if he wants to play in the states like Matt Tkachuk. Maybe he has personal issues. He did have to step away. Who knows. Rangers should have kept him. They had their chance. I like Miller but if it’s not for Mika or something little than I rather not do it. Especially if Schneider is the key. No thanks. Rangers need a Miller type, one reason id love Tkachuk from the Senators. Rangers need emotion. Hockey is played off emotion, the fans help with that both ways. One reason Rempe is too important right now. Rangers need some skilled players in the top 6that with either emotion and attitude. Rangers were better with those types of players. One reason I want Cuylle to get top 6 minutes and PP time. He plays that way and he has earned it.

Vancouver thought EP was going to Carolina last night, but Carolina did the Colorado deal instead
Yeah I saw EF say that like 3 minutes after my post lol.

I dunno, the smoke has been almost all miller. EF also said last night Buffalo is around EP. Wonder what that deal would look like.

can someone send me the link to Borgen’s contract thread please.

IMO The risk is that what we’ve seen so far - mostly mistakes free performance - is an outlier rather than what we will get going forward (ala Smith when he got his $4.2m). Saving grace is that today’s $4m has a much smaller % cap hit

His last 2 years in Seattle he was playing similar to how he has with the Rangers. This isn't an outlier. His early season struggles were the outlier

How to further improve the team? Get rid of this dead weight..........

it's not like they're being relegated on 3rd pairing and 4th line duties/limited minutes.... these guys are getting primo minutes.

Absolute vampires sucking the life out of this team.

fix it. Get rid of Lindgren already....

Rangers have assets. Not saying that Schneider will be in JTM trade but who said a he can’t be moved in the right deal. Miller still RTA but not committed to with long term contract. Already mentioned Kreider. If I had to put money on anything it would be that if a good LD is coming with Kreider going the other way.
Schneid and/or KAM should not be moved b'c expected return will not justify loss of long term benefit
again, Kreider can't/shouldn't be moved now, if at all

I know Vince said Schneider isnt going anywhere but we all know that can change. Any chance of prying Power out of Buffalo for Schneider++? They have a glut of LD and desperately need a RD.

Power - Fox
Miller - Borgen

would be very nice
Power is a good target tho w/scarcity of RD it would be cutting our nose to spite our face.
Also, they want more than an arm and a leg, not just a premium
so prob no, not for that package

Borgen was a good get; my issue was not we got him, but could have used other currency. NOW we see what happens when you don't make best moves at all times.
IF we still had KK, KK + for Power + could be a thing
but opportunity cost so now that is buh bye

Panarin has a NMC and has plot armor here.

what do Miller and Cuylle get?
bread may not waive now, but he will before his deal is up to avoid ugly look b'c we are not re-signing.
be smart, do not self rent, repurpose vets into youth
KAM better off resigning 5.25 x 8, no clauses, play by ear
Cuylle -- ARE YOU SERIOUS?

With Rantanen gone, do the Avs become a player for Kreider?
NO for reasons stated above and below
For every post you make pushing to move Kreider, I can reply NO and why

Probably not. They need to upgrade 2C. Necas is taking Rantanen spots on line 1. l
yes, this is a priority over and above that CK is not in top condition to return peak value even if a deal was entertained

concur
Lindy have sympathy for, just give to UT for whatev we can get

Zib's gonna require work
but thanks, glad to see I'm not the only one beating this drum
and the poster who keeps telling us how good zib is/is our leader, etc, consider this external comment further rebuff

either Schneider slots up and plays with Fox on his off-side or he's moved for a Center. Maybe a package for a LHD upgrade?

Schneider for McTavish could be interesting. baby Trouba reunites with big Trouba

Lindgren is the easy fix, just make that change.

okay i was over the number by 25%, pretty wrong, but had the overall contract value correct.

also - no way to prove it but i stand by my assignment of the rationale, that establishing his value here as a top 4 defender, and *paid as such*, has a lot to do with framing the Kakko trade as a win.
Common sense suggests that they targeted Borgen as a player who can fill a long-term spot for us before they made the trade. It was widely reported that other teams were interested in him and there was speculation as to whether the Rangers would re-sign him or flip him.

I'm sure they used the last 4 weeks as an evaluation period to see how Borgen fit in with the rest of the team, and to see how the team did. If they continued to flounder, maybe Drury doesn't re-sign him. But the team turned it around and Borgen has been a significant part of that.

So, I don't see it as them simply signing him to justify the trade. I see it as them trading for a player they liked, evaluating that player within the room and on the ice, and coming to the conclusion that he can help us going forward.

That doesn't mean they are right. We'll have to see how it plays out. Everything is a gamble. But I don't think Drury signed him to save face. Our GMs have been accused of that many times in the past, and there has never been any real justification for it. Drury wasn't in danger of getting fired because of the Kakko deal. I doubt Dolan pays all that much attention to the individual moves. At the end of the day, all he seems to care about is making the playoffs.

I just can't believe we're only a littl over halfway through one of the worst performances in team history with Mika, and Lavi still hasn't had the balls to reduce his role long term of engage in long term scratches so he can work on his game.

Maybe that happens if they trade for Miller, but Duhmetree is right- at a certain point it has to happen. We moved Trouba to the third pairing for significant stretches and some playoff games. We should do the same for Zib.

eh, maybe you're right

I do my level best to keep Schneider out of the Miller talks, but if he's the main piece and the 1st is 2026 top 5 protected, I'm not sure I'm not making that deal.

I like Schneider, but hes a limited player in his own right.

I can really see him going somewhere else and becoming a great player. At least put him with Fox and see what happens

Makes absolutely no sense that the Rangers would relent on Schneider in the JT MIller talks when they recently gained a lot more leverage. Schneider potentially shifting to the left is a good sign. Reasons to keep him are more apparent than not. Right now he looks great on the 3rd pair and Mancini needs more seasoning. Next year when Lindgren walks, you try Schneider on the left with Fox. Too solve that Fox partner issue in house for 2+mill is huge with how the cap is in flux.

If Schneider cant work on the left with Fox next year (my personal opinion is that he would be more than fine when he looked good playing on the left with the corpse of Trouba). it just makes him, Mancini and Emery trade bait to add a lefty then.

So are the Canucks pretending they will keep JT and move EP?

That’s my guess to try and get more
JT holds the cards with his no trade

I think both are moved eventually. Canucks are going to remove the malcontents rebuild around Quinn.

Thats a dangerous bluff

I can see it, but thats not a long term posture to take as teams (Canes) tend to pivot.
Canucks owner is throwing a tantrum about the state of the team, possibility of missing the playoffs, and fan perception of losing a JT Miller trade (which they certainly will due to JT's locker room issues, age, contract, and most important his NMC)

So, it stems from an idiot being overly involved. Nothing you can do to stop that danger. He doesn't see it as dangerous. He thinks he is smart.

Borgen under contract allows the Rangers to make a Fox deal before his NMC starts on July 1. Schneider, Borgen and Mancini.

Are the Rangers keeping their rentals? Reilly Smith and Ryan Lindgren. The Rangers could really use one of those Orlov and Hathaway package deals and use the first round pick on a roster player in another deal. Some of the Cup contenders could use Smith's playoff experience and everyone is looking at adding another D.

Colorado? The Avs have the Rangers 2nd round pick in 2025. The Avs have their 1st round pick in 2026. Rangers retain 50% on both players. Pittsburgh is already retaining 25% on Smith. The Rangers traded a 2nd and 5th for Smith. Colorado would get Smith at 25%.

The Rangers play Schneider with Fox and recall Berard to replace Smith. There won't be that big of a drop off with Smith for Berard. Schneider is 1000x better than Lindgren. Recall Mancini. The team will be better overall and the Rangers acquire future assets to use for other players. The Rangers have all three retention spots. Smith and Lindgren come off in the summer.
