Replace Lindgren with Pettersson
Offload Kreider
Offload Mika
Acquire JT Miller
Bring Berard back up
When Panarin's contract expires don't resign him and use that money for Rantanen or McDavid
Replace Lindgren with Pettersson
yes, lose Lindy but no on Pett.
keep roster spot flexible/room for Gavrikov as ufa if we don't do my megadeal w/LA [incl shesty + tro for Byfield, Helenius, Clarke and Dvorak]
Offload Kreider
NO I've explained
Offload Mika
yes I've explained
Acquire JT Miller
yes, if for scraps as I've suggested
Bring Berard back up
We'd all like that but until Mika is actually gone, not gonna happen unless Kaliyev or pref Smith is moved
When Panarin's contract expires don't resign him and use that money for Rantanen or McDavid
yes, don't re-sign [in fact sell now to get value]
no on Rant
yes on McD [<1% he leaves EDM]
cap space is always good be careful applying to foundation moves, minimize splurges
Pens lost 5-1 to the Ducks. Ugly. Marcus Pettersson is the guy on defense for us. Perfect partner for Fox. Could see Garand and Mancini being guys the Pens would have interest in, that are a bit blocked on our end. Would PIT trade Bryan Rust? Would be a perfect guy for the Panarin line. Would allow Laf to shift back to the left on a different line. Not much interest in anyone else there.
Marc Pett DO NOT WANT
totally NO on moving Gar or Man
again, NO on adding vets e.g. Rust, go w/youth
No to trading Garand unless a young Cost controlled player is coming back.
while there is an exception to every rule
rule here is Garand is nec either
a) we do my deal, Shesty to LA for a haul, and he is groomed asap under Quick to become starter
b) Shesty stays, when Quick retires, we have Garand
I would re-sign Pettersson. The Rangers will have flexibility this summer. Kreider is going to get trouba/Goodrow'd if he doesnt get moved sooner. The writing is on the wall. Cuylle can also play the right side. Id go for JT over Rust but Rust might be another solid option if the JT stuff falls through. Just speculating in the speculation thread.
Garand has exponentially more value to a team needing a goaltender, than a team who just gave theirs an immovable 8 year extension. Dont disagree we'd want a cost controlled guy but I'd say hes a top trade chip, especially after being named an All-star.
1st para addressed already
2nd par is true, but we don't want to ordinarily move him
I'd rather buy low and buy smart. Trade Lindgren to Utah for Maata and a pick. Resign Maata. Better D be committee. Trade Jones whenever. Call up Ruhwedel.
Maata-Fox
Miller-Borgen
Vaak-Schneider
Ruhwedel
In the summer sign Gavrikov.
Gav-Fox
Miller-Borgen
Maata-Schneider
Vaak-Mancini
Lindy to UT now for best possible pick
TBH I don't know if there's a perfect partner for fox. I think you'd ideally want someone with more mobility and some good offensive instincts, ala Hronek or Toews, especially because that's three coaches now who prefer K'Andre's par as a matchup pair (And who prefer to separate Miller and Fox). I think we should aim for a stable 3RD and move Schneider to Fox's left. Swap Jones for a similar caliber vet 3rd pair guy from a team that would want to take a flier on him.
Of course, the team is back to winning and Lindgren is on the first pair so signs pointing to us being closer to re-signing 55 than swapping a new partner for Fox in his spot before next season.
best partner for Fox is OTT's Sanderson
best move is to sell him high there for top top $
