We are on a very nice run after a horrific month. The coaching hasn't changed at all.

Goes back to the saying, Its about the Jimmy and Joes not the Xs and Os.

But you can be sure that if they fired Lavy 10 games ago and then went on this exact same run that the new coach would be credited with turning it around and Lavy would be given all the blame.

I'VE SAID TOO MUCH!

JK ... Well there has obviously been a ton of smoke. Couple of days until our next game. Vancouver down to basically 0 leverage with JTM eyeing the Rangers. Shelled last night. Haven't won 2 in a row since 12/1. Feels like a great day to move on.

Seeing the score of the Canucks/(McDavid-less)Oilers last night my first thought was it's gotten untenable for Vancouver. Looks similar to how it was with us when the Trouba situation came to a head. Can't heal until the issue is resolved.

You are right but I would attribute that to 2 things.

1. Teams often respond in the short term to coaching changes just like players respond in the short term after trades. Both usually fall back to the norm over time. Look at Aaron Pierce (Raiders) in the NFL or Kuzmenko after his trade to Calgary.

2. People often argue correlation equals causation.

I made the initial point back a week or so ago about the Vancouver owner getting involved at the last minute on the trade that it indicated to me that there was retention involved. I think that even with Aquilini being a 'hockey' guy who is an owner, I doubt he would meddle in specific valuation of trades like that but when it comes to handicapping him and his organization with dead cap space that he is paying out of his pocket I could see him saying 'no' to that.

If it goes down, I'm sure we won't love the cost, but if there's retention...

The Rangers being on the run they are is buying Drury more time. This season is about the whackiest ever. They were atrocious for a good two/two and a half months and now it's like everything is firing on all cylinders. I don't think we're a lock for the playoffs but if they continue the way they are they will make it.
They are making the playoffs and I don't think 3rd in the Metro is that outlandish either, especially with Markstrom on the shelf for 6 weeks.

I'm sorry to who brought up Maata (I don't have time to find the initial source) but that's a great idea for a low-key, pretty good top-4 mobile LD. He has never put up a ton of points as he was projected to but his skating and ability to move the puck effectively are still there. My concern with him is his health as the last time he played 82 games was in 17-18 but if would take something reasonable, say $3.5m per season, I could see that being a very effective piece, like Borgen is, who could help make that left side more effective.

I’m at the point where if we do trade for Miller, might as well do it for futures rather than trade a big part of your team in Chytil. Trade the first+Othmann or whatever. Then you can trade Kreider and Zibanejad closer to the deadline or in the offseason. I’m still not in love with trading for him but if they are going to do it I’d rather them do that.

Very much agree on the futures. especially if JT will only waive to come to NYR.

Goalies and Role players carrying the team. Nothings changed accept the win column. Defence and role players padding the scoring columns.

The Marque players are pedestrians.

This is bullshit. D is clearly better. Though yesterday was not an example of it. Goaltending is also better but it's not all goaltending. Rangers fans literally can never be happy. Need to be f***ing miserable all of the f***ing time.

Everything depends on the return, but trading a big 23 year old physical dman who can skate should NOT be what we are looking to do. He’s exactly the type of D man we are always looking for. Schneider can also play either side. You don’t trade him unless it’s a massive upgrade.
Basically what he is saying is that it makes sense to trade Schneider for a left handed Schneider. Just because he played LD for 4 games doesn’t mean he can play it consistently for a SC contender over the course of a season. In fact if I remember correctly, he was benched for 2 periods during his LD stint, though I’m not sure about that part.

I like him as a buy low candidate. I think he is being overlooked and plays a steady game and gets the puck out of trouble. His injuries are a concern, but thats the chance you take on a player that will likely be cheap to acquire and cheap to resign. I think he would be a great fit to replace Lindgren and perfect to move down to 3rd pair next season if we bring in someone else this off-season.
