The constant criticisms regarding Hank's celebrity and endorsements are beyond bizarre. I never really hear any complaints about Aaron Judge's celebrity status, or any other big name NY athlete, but there's always a faction of Rangers fans who are personally offended by Lundqvist's endorsement deals and extracurricular activities (which pale in comparison to most successful professional athletes).

People who post nonsense BS like that shouldn’t even have the right to call him “Hank”. The disrespect is enormous, and the agenda to push narratives is endless.
It's ridiculous. Hank has his interests outside of hockey but it has been made abundantly clear with irrefutable evidence that Hank not only is hard worker but he's among the hardest workers most of his teammates and media people around the team have ever seen. All you ever hear about is how hard he works, how hard he prepares, how much of a pro he is and how hard he works, how seriously he takes every single detail(as if we can't tell from watching him all these years) and how much all this matters to him.

To think the fact that he'll do some photo shoots in the offseason or on a day off or that he has sponsors somehow contradicts this is asinine.

I’m not usually one to jump to xenophobia, but I think a lot of this has to do with the fact that he’s European.

We had an equal chance of getting the first as a few other teams. Buffalo, Columbus, Pittsburgh and the Rangers has equal chances of winning the lottery in 2005.
Don’t bring this draft lottery up please. We’re talking like a year plus of build up bc of the lockout, and we got called 5 minutes into the announcement at 15. That was pretty heartbreaking honestly. The rangers got lucky Jagr and the Czech National were on fire that season and that they unearthed a 7th round gem who would become the face of the franchise for the next 15 years.

But that draft lottery was one of the worst moments of being a fan in my life

I think it’s a mix of him being seen as a ‘pretty boy’ type and hockey culture being all about the team and sport with no room for outside interests or personality

I think there's probably truth on both sides of the issue.

There were some rumblings/opinions earlier in Mika's career that he wasn't quite fully dedicated to being the best player he could be in hockey. A sense, if you will, that hockey was something he happened to be good at, but didn't necessarily love.

Having said that, I don't think anyone can really question that over the last 18 months or so. Subsequently, I don't really hear those claims much, if at all, these days.

Beyond that, I do think this a league that still tends to favor North American players; or at least give them a little bit longer leash. There are a number of stories I could share over the years that would tend to support why I feel this way.

I've often thought that if his name was Mike Zibane, and he was drafted out of the OHL, he'd be a much bigger focus.

So they’re saying Mika out likely thru the rest of the week.

that’ll be 4 plus weeks since the injury. 12 games. For the record he missed 9 after his last concussion.

it very clearly was not a day to day neck stinger. Nothing remotely truthful or accurate about saying an injury is day to day and it keeping a guy out 4 plus weeks minimum if we’re lucky. So let’s stop pretending they’ve been forthcoming about this injury.

This season has quickly become a lost one for him. If he’s back after 12 games the way he usually Responds it’s another 10 or 12 till he resembles himself.

thanks for the detective work lol

Okposo has concussion, out indefinitely for Sabres

I don't understand why the Rangers did not announce Mika's injury like Buffalo did with Okposo

Just in general, a team policy to never announce concussions could make some sense.

When they always were reported it was so easy to find info that player X had 3 or 5 or 7 concussions or whatever. If everything is just UBI, and you have to look back 10-12 years, it’s not that easy to ascertain how many concussions a player had. Maybe that can be deemed to be beneficial in some cases.

I am just speculating and the above could be a bit far-fetched. I don’t know. Just a thought I have had for a while.
