Someone who has had a concussion is more prone to a neck or chest injury???????????????
When getting a concussion or whiplash the Scalene muscles get pretty wrecked and it's very uncomfortable. However, you would think he has access to soft tissue work that would take care of it.

I have had concussions, which during those instances included some hard contact and jostling of my head and neck. Concussions went away but i did end up some slightly herniated discs in my neck. And occasionally when playing sports or working out my neck will swell up or become uncomfortable and stiff. Not saying this is what Mika is dealing with but he could have some small neck issues from previous hits that easily flare up and yes can take weeks to subside.

You don’t know who would or wouldn’t.
Doesn't this make it pure conjecture on your part to make the statement that others would not be hurt by such a check? What is the statement supported by?
Someone prone to concussions has a greater risk.
No offense, but in other news water is found to be wet. Any time anyone suffers a concussion, it makes them more vulnerable than a person who has never had one or has had less. That still does not support any argument in this thread.

having a “short memory” and being “knowledgeable about the salary cap doesn’t give a fan the right to bash a franchise icon like Lundqvist. It makes them a shameless opportunist at best and an idiot at worst
Got to take the other end of this, as displeasurable as I find it. Fans are paying customers. They have the right to bash, boo or cheer whomever they want. How foolish and ridiculous it makes them look is a different tale.

He's been bashed for one thing or another since he got here.

Not a neck injury but concussions. Look at Nash as an example he was never the same after this concussions. I’m a Mika fan I hope he’s ok. I didn’t know he has had 6 concussions already. Which sucks for anyone.

I just hope he’s ok. I really like him and it’s just our luck that a top player gets hurt like this.
I think the Rangers being so vague about his injury has set some panic into some fans that it’s another concussion. I know how serious an injury that is and I’m hoping it doesn’t end his career prematurely. That’s it.

Would we be crazy enough to trade for him? The package would cripple the rebuild.
Would it? I think the Rangers have enough assets to make a big move like that honestly. They probably wouldn’t have the number one system after, but they aren’t going to crater either.

Here's a crazy humpday thought - Would the leafs be crazy enough to trade Matthews?
Probably not.

I think Nylander is the one who goes in the summer for defense.

Unfortunately for the Leafs, their timeline to win is like right now. This season potentially being a bust is not good, considering the Matthews and Marner contracts, and pretty much their entire defense being free agents in the summer.

As long as we aren't trading this years 1st I think it would be fine. Rangers have been stockpiling assets for years now, and center is still a huge need for the Rangers. My only untouchables would be Kakko and Shestyorkin for Matthews.

Re-signing Nylander was a moronic move for them when he was holding out. Think of it this way, there was a time last season when the Blues were essentially open for business. They probably could have built a package around Nylander to get a guy like Pietrangelo. Huge mistake not trading him for a D after signing Tavares.

If anything this would expedite the rebuild even further. It's not like Matthews is 30 or even 27. He's 22. He would be the rebuild.

There's no way the Leafs are trading Matthews. However, you can't deny that their recent attempt at assembling a blue-line has fallen pretty flat. Last time I checked Ceci was actually outperforming his history by a small margin, but Barrie has been terrible for them. I wonder if they'll finally cut into the core a little to try and remedy that with a trade. It won't be Matthews, Marner, or Tavares, but Nylander seems like the likely one to go. The question is how much value does he really have?

Regardless, I think they'll shitcan Babcock before they start dealing players. Firing the coach is always the easier approach.

That’s the thing though, he already is Toronto’s rebuild, I think he’s the last to go out of every single player on that team

Yeah I agree

Toronto is probably kicking themselves for not playing ball more with Carolina. They wanted Slavin but Pesce would have filled a huge need for them, and his contract is amazing for a top 4 RD.

i would think that he would be the absolute last guy they would trade.

My thinking is basically that as good as he is, he's not a good old Canadian boy like Tavares and Marner, and he flaunts that. They passed him over for the Captaincy and he doesn't have the best media rep in town (The thing over the summer with his disorderly conduct comes to mind). We've seen guys run out of towns for less and we've seen teams make decisions based on dumb, external factors. Dubas is also a bad GM. Not saying that any of this is realistic just trying to look at it from a different perspective.

Leafs arent taking a package of meddling players for Matthew's. It would have to include one of those guys imo and maybe the 1st.

I get that, but they didn’t even risk any contract problems with Matthews, they instantly gave him what he wanted. Then through Marner’s whole thing their stance was “you’re not as good or valuable as Matthews so you don’t get what he got”

A package from the Rangers for Matthews probably starts with Zibanejad and Fox considering their cap and their roster needs.
