It was one of those games where you said to yourself at the end "Yep. That guy is done here".
We are talking 2 and a half years from now....
Kakko could be the new Jagr, Fox could be the new Coffey and Panarin, well he can be Panarin.
None of the Rangers young players are generational.
None of the Blackhawks players are/were generational.
There's probably a reason why reporters haven't dug deeper and found this to be a concussion related issue.
And it's not because they're lazy or are afraid to ask...
I sensed real animosity from Quinn regarding how Haley racked up the PIMs while the coach was dealing with a short bench in a blowout game. And I don't think you'll ever see him in a Ranger uniform again, thank goodness.
How can we possibly risk re signing him?its for sure a concussion. its also for sure an organizational narrative to not discuss it.
imo, this is a classic case of a progression of severity and effect from a traumatic blow to the head.
concussions are cumulative. this is a scary real thing
this kids career is just taking off and now this.
lets remember eric lindros.
How can we possibly risk re signing him?
I don’t think we can.
Best center in 20 years? Check. Finally a borderline elite level legit 1st line center? Check. How can we possibly risk re signing him?
I don’t think we can.
I hope you are right.
How do you figure? If he stays healthy, they finally have a 1C at the start of his peak. If he gets seriously hurt or has to retire, he doesn't count against the cap.How can we possibly risk re signing him?

Based on what the Rangers have done the last few years, I think there's at least a distinct possibility that Zibanejad's next contract is with another team.
Gotta wonder who is going to play center on a team that's supposed to be improving if Mika's gone. Maybe if they draft a great one next year? Otherwise I don't know.Based on what the Rangers have done the last few years, I think there's at least a distinct possibility that Zibanejad's next contract is with another team.
I think what they've been doing is with the rebuild in mind.
I don't think NYR will be as hesitant to re-sign 29-30 year olds to longer deals once they are back to making the postseason on a regular basis.
The answer doesn’t necessarily need to be in the system right now, they have ~3 years to figure that outGotta wonder who is going to play center on a team that's supposed to be improving if Mika's gone. Maybe if they draft a great one next year? Otherwise I don't know.

Not unless this 29-30 year old comes with $11m per price tag for 6-8 years and significant concussion concerns. Staal and Nash happened on this management's watch.
