"tear it down" isnt an option
sure we can collect late 2nd or 3rd rounders for spare part players
to do what with exactly? play with mika in a few years? Lol.

you would think the team hasnt won a game since october the way this thread has been going
I expect nothing from the handful who constant ha ha my posts with no constructive input whatsoever.
I expect more/better from you

The posture of what is/is not an option
BENDS BUCKLES AND BREAKS IN CAPITULATION
to what is the optimal approach that is the rule not the exception:
b'c of cap reality, if you accept the logic that most seasons with competitive team = longest window = best chance of winning a cup,
THEN
you need to try to constantly max your quality youth
which means stop favoring vets over youth, and after using vets as stopgap, keep actively selling vets to max youth position

Mika needs to go yesterday
stuff I and others have said about acknowledging reality that we need major changes [b'c we can't get over the last hump in quest for the cup] is ignored at peril of continuing to suffer]

Winning a championship with this crop of players is also not an option.

Being bad makes your draft picks more valuable. Being mediocre makes them less valuable and gives you about the same chance at a championship.

I'm old. I don't want to see more of the same. I want a Stanley Cup.

And at the end of the day, if you aren't icing a team that can win a cup, what are you doing?

I'd trade Schneider for a lot of players since he isn't very good.

I wouldn't. Not because I think he's anything especially great but because I think he's got a reputation better than his play, and I think he could be a key piece in getting some higher-end asset.

Also because we have absolutely 0 pipeline at RHD.

Regarding Schneider, I feel like he's regressed offensively but improved somewhat defensively, especially since Vaak arrived. I still think he is not anywhere near physical enough because he should be much more. It's not as dire as Miller but he hasn't taken that step. His play has made him replaceable and we have organizational depth. I also would gladly keep him and roll with a long term RD of Fox-Schneider-Mancini-Emery. We already have enough work to do on the left side. Of available guys id be more willing to move Schneider for Cozens than JT.

non sequitur
and detached from reality

no x 2
neither better nor best
and actually, taking into account the legit, real actual issue of playing defense, he has been one of, if not, the worst
This is why it is pointless in engaging with you. You have painted yourself so deep into the corner that reality is now an abstract notion in your world. There was a 3 game stretch not a week ago where he was outperforming every other skater on the team. The stat cards are in the PGT of those games. Wether you like it or not Mika has been one of the teams best players since the break. You would garner much more respect if your stance was that Mika should be traded for the greater good without the Kreider fellatio and all the theatrics.

Nothing you say makes sense. You wanted to healthy scratch Mika when he was playing like shit stating that his play justified such action from the coaching staff but what about when he started to pick his game up? You still wanted to scratch him but where is the justification for that? Oh, sorry, I forgot, "sit him anyways, break him, I DONT WANT HIM TO WIN!!!!"

You are either not well or a troll. It is sad, cause once upon a time you were at least entertaining. Anyways, I am done wasting time on you.

All well and good but you didnt answer my question.

Mika has shown improvement and his trajectory is positive while Kreider is the opposite. How come you have more faith in Kreider turning it around despite being older and apparently more injury prone on top of being outperformed by Mika?

I mean, it was clear as day for everyone that as soon as Mika got away from Kreider his game started to improve. Not even the most fervent Mika haters could deny that and many of them even admitted as much.

Edit: Just to clarify, I am not calling you a Mika hater.

Improving or not he's still not scoring much and he's making a lot of money to produce a lot of points.

I'm not a Mika hater and I'm not a Kreider hater either. I wasn't a Trouba hater and I'm not a Lindgren hater. I had no problem with Jacob being moved---I thought it was a good deal for us. His play had been declining too. But back to Z....Mika's game started slipping last year and Kreider's definitely hasn't been great this year. That line has been a big letdown. Again possibility of either rebounding my guess is it would more likely be Chris. Easier to move would also be Chris and I think we should get a better return for Chris. Bern doesn't like me trading away his favorite player though so I guess I can't:).

Age does take a toll. Chris is older. They've both been excellent players for us but there also comes a time. There's also timing in things. If we hang on to one or both and they don't rebound the window could close and they might be a lot harder to move next year. Not necessarily disastrous because the Rangers have been moving a lot of ELC and second contracts on to the team. A lot depends on how Drury or his replacement look at things but if they think reorganizing the team means the team takes a step back for the next couple years they might as well move on from Chris right now. Holding on to a 33/34/35 year old player for a non-playoff or cusp playoff team is not really smart asset management. On the other hand not getting screwed with a bad deal factors in too.

Well, nobody is scoring right now so thats that. And if we only go by guessing then my guess is that Mika is the more likely candidate to rebound since he is the one showing actual improvement at the moment.

Anyways, thank you for taking your time and replying.

1. "reality is now an abstract notion in your world" = statement by you attempting to control the narrative, it is not a fact. And in fact, it is erroneous b'c objectively Zib has been absent at best and pitifully terribad at worst, while Kreider has continued to mostly contribute.

2. bold = crazy hyperbole by you

3. Even IF you are right and you are not BOTH b'c eye test verifies this mofo can't play def to save his life AND b'c I contest the offense narrative you suggest, "3 games" or short duration "since the break" is NOT sufficient basis to forget all the bs Mika did prior, which should not be excused anyway.

4. "Nothing you say makes sense."
I am not the one who is contrarian here.
Most of the board except for you and literally coupla others recognize zib is the problem.
The eye test proves on this I am right and you are wrong.

"You wanted to healthy scratch Mika when he was playing like shit stating that his play justified such action from the coaching staff but what about when he started to pick his game up? "
This slight uptick does not override the shit he pulled previously, and is still pulling.
And what big deal is it you are referring to?
You act like he suddenly he turned into MacKinnon or McDavid
not even remotely close

"You still wanted to scratch him but where is the justification for that?"
As I have explained but you have constantly ignored, not refuted on merit, but ignored, scratching him is the only way to get him to waive, which is what he deserves and what is best for the team,
It IS justified by his overall continued pisspoor play and sub-abysmal defense

You have no legit justification to defend him
none

I don't want to waste time on you either, but your false narrative needs to be refuted
zib sucked ass earlier
he still sucks, maybe not as much on the butthole, but still he sucks
and we are better off without him

I have not wanted a guy off the team as much since I had to repeatedly point out Stephan was overrated; we were fortunate to get a high first for him. We will not get that for Mika
Let it go

'moment" is not a big enuf sample size

and actual improvement is so minute from the abyss where he was it cannot be considered legit/credible
AND HIS DEFENSIVE PLAY SUCKS

Amen.

Enough of the same ole shit.

But we won't win that argument with Drury & Dolan & probably Sather on his death cigar

I keep wondering when real change will take place but it won't. Not in my (our) lifetime.

Making obscene amounts of money. Dolan doesn't give a rat's ass about winning a cup.
I kind of simply don't understand this. First off, if it's indeed true? OR, it's NOT but obviously in it for the money. I simply do not understand WHY he wouldn't be PUBLIC about CARING about this team, and doing whatever he can to make this Rangers team a Championship team from Top to Bottom. Maybe it's NOT his fault. What IS his fault is this conception (or mis-conception) by the fans that HE doesn't care. So, "IF" I am he, I would make a public statement that I DO care, and want his Rangers "investment" to be a winner. I mean, why would that hurt any? He would still be making his money, but could possibly flip around the fans view of him. Get a GM that cracks the whip, who in turn gets a coach to understand this and portrays the same. No more "holiday's here, no more golf course kind of playing, that simply isn't acceptable. NO MORE NMC's, and NTC's. Period.
Put up, or shut up. Have respect for your fans and your teammates. You are NOT an entertainer in the forms of a Musician, where winning isn't the end all, be all.
I have more respect for the Rempe's, Callahan's and Trocheck's of the world with lesser talent than I have for those with MUCH more talent giving a half assed effort. If WE can see it, then why doesn't anyone with half a brain see it? Yeah, that's pointed at the coaches, GM's and yes......even to the one that supposedly doesn't care. Dolan.
WHY oh WHY wouldn't he want to beloved in the areas of Seventh and Eighth avenues ranging from 31st to 33rd street?

Are you talking about Stepan of Matteau?

So are we in a situation where Drury has to best the Devils offer of Nemec + Mercer now in order to acquire J.T.?

Lafreniere + Schneider for J.T. is going to make my blood boil.
Sorry, I don't want that trade. It was a HUGE mistake letting JT go in the first place. I knew it then, so yeah.....let's double down and make a bad decision 10X worse. in other words, lets just keep trading away our younger talent (ala Kaapo) and get older and get more stupid. Figure outr another wat to get him or even Pettersson.
Lets rape a "stuck" Vancouver GM with a problem. And NOT get raped once again.

a Laf and Schneider offer would be terrible. They can have Zibs, Miller and Jones or Lindgren. The Rangers will find a defenseman somewhere, haha

I don't disagree with anything you're saying.

Is it true? I don't know for certain. It SEEMS true to me, but despite the fact that most of my posts on these boards are fairly lighthearted and humorous, I'm actually egregiously cynical, so if I'm wrong about Dolan, I'm happy to make a public apology.

Why doesn't he say something about caring about a cup publicly? I don't know - seems like good marketing to me, but what do I know? I teach people how to improvise musical theater - I know absolute bupkus about marketing and business.

I have more respect for those players as well. My favorite player was, is and always will be Adam Graves. The most talented Ranger ever? Not by a long shot, but he played his f***ing ass off every single night, bled so much he made Lindgren's worst injuries look like a mosquito bite, could hurt you on the scoreboard and if you decided to get chummy with the Leetchs, Kovalevs and Amontes on the team, he'd put his fist through your face.

Why do we want JT?

He's not coming here & fixing shit... we swap Mika for him? Whatever. One problem for another but he wasn't shit here (shouldn't have been dealt away as a throw in) but he wasn't & was apparently a locker room issue here.

So we need yet another NYR retread, with issues in the locker room in an already toxic room?

I don't get you people.

Lafreniere + Schneider for J.T. is going to make my blood boil.

No we aren't.

Mostly because I doubt either of those deals are on the table.

Plus NJ would be over the cap. They'd have to clear more salary than that because thats only 4 of their roster while bringing in 8. They don't have that cap space.

Wait, when did the Turkey Girl and Olli Jokinen reaction emotes become a thing?

I'm dead.

Also, who is actually advocating for JT Miller outside of a straight swap for Zibanejad?

Where do these proposals even come from.

That’s not happening
