Also to those keeping score, this is EXACTLY what happened in Washington during Lavi's last year.

Catering to veteran players, taking the "easy" way out with scratches and alienating players who weren't a part of the "core."

I think hes in a no win situation as he himself cannot fix everything that is wrong here but f*** if he hasn't done everything he can possibly do to make a bad situation worse.
I literally said this before we hired him as the major red flag reason for NOT hiring him. Drury deserves the fallback.

Nothing wrong with a guy wanting to play. Wecwant guys that want to play but if you haven't played well then you have to look at your own play. Idclike Zac to excell but he hasn't yet.
If you read the article it’s pretty clear that Jones IS looking at his own play, and the heinous play of someone above him, and feeling like he’s not being given a fair shake

If Jones is worth a 5th and Vesey around a 3rd, does that package get you a 2nd from a wild card placed team looking for some playoff depth but still with an eye on the future?

I have no issue with Jones’ (or Kakko’s) comments and wanting to play. But I will buy the first ever Zac Jones jersey for whatever team he is traded to if he brings back a 2nd. That is flat out not happening. As someone said, a dozen players like Jones clear waivers every season. He may get a change of scenery project around the same age, or a third/fourth at best.

Or some other AHL guy who has worn out his welcome in another org. Guy we traded Kundratek for or Graves for Bigras or something like that.

I duno I don't think Jones is great but I do think it's obvious the organization has been jerking him around for the past several years. Drury doesn't want to trade him or let him go via wavers but is happy to f*** with him as a scratch and not get him playing time. I'm surprised that it's taken him this long to basically come out with it.
Maybe he's being "jerked" around because he's not really any good.

The thing with KAM…. I want to see him without Housley and our current Chinese fire drill coverage. Please just put him back with Fox

Still think he’s a top4LHD for the next decade+. Hasn’t peaked yet and has a lot of potential

Our left side is so bad. Unless it’s a player like MacTavish coming our way, I hold on to KAM
Yeah I’d trade miller if it’s a clear win but not just to dump him. We aren’t winning gonna need bodies and if anything he’s just driving down his own price.

Would be nice if the team was full of young studs and just needed a high end vet to lead the way.

It’s the opposite. Tons of vets, all failing, nowhere near enough young talent.

Trade the vets too

I’m a sucker for the narrative. JT isn’t a short term solution despite being 31. He’s a 90-100 point player signed for 6 more years. Nothing is working in NY or Vancouver. Neither team, and especially not the Rangers, is going to sit around and not try to fix things. People’s jobs depend on it. I could see Drury’s desperation heave being Miller in and K’Andre + Kreider out. Othmann will be up soon. They need a real leader because they aren’t rebuilding. I definitely could see a scenario where they trade for him and continue to lose. No one will be upset by the high draft pick and back on the horse next season + Perrault.

It’s an absolute no brainer to go for him if you can somehow dump Zibanejad in the process. Drury holds on to his guys until they have no value but he’s been a good hatchet man. My two sense. It’s an interesting situation around the league because there are a lot of teams that are just waiting for the guillotine to fall on them. Makes everything more interesting.

Zac jones mouthing off to the media about ice time. Unserious organization.

And what I mean by that is an AHL level defenseman feels comfortable calling out this coaching staff, knowing it will lead to a trade. Inmates are running the asylum. I’m embarrassed as a fan of this team. Unbecoming of an O6 franchise.
Are you now seeing what I said at thanks giving about the players thinking they are in charge. That's why anyone that is pushing for lavy or Drury to be canned before the cancers are traded is missing the boat. If Drury or Lavy is canned for anything short of a complete FU alpha type that will burn this down and get them out then it will be a massive mistake and caving to these clowns.

If jones could get us a 2nd he’d be gone a long time ago

Pssst... Maybe they're not trying to actually rebuild even when they tell you they are.

Don't be gullible...

Well we know that they weren’t now.

I don’t buy the notion that Dolan was driving it. Reasons being -

It’s what JG and JD do.

Look at the Knicks as @Machinehead pointed out. That’s the team that Dolan actually cares about and they basically ripped it down to the studs.

Listen a rebuild is easy to sell to anyone when it makes sense. JG/JD thought they could short cut it my splurging on Panarin and while also dishing out heavy contracts to Trouba and Kreider all within what? 9 months of each other?

It’s hard to continue to sell a rebuild to your boss when he’s forking over that kind of cash. There’s a big difference in the way they went about their business and the way rose/rosas have gone about theirs.

I don’t think they’re going in that direction now and I don’t think they need to either. It would behoove them to move most of the high priced guys. I mean all of the veteran core forwards outside of Trocheck should be on the market right now.
