I honestly have no clue how they fix the left side.

Hopefully land a guy like Schaefer in the draft. Keep KAM and maybe trade for Walman or something?

I'm not sure what he's bouncing back to. Besides point productions, everything seems pretty similar for him. Zone % in 3 straight seasons have basically been the same.

I don't think Miller has ever really been that good for us. For the most part it feels Miller is playing the same game, but now every mistake ends up in our net, rather than turning a blind eye to those mistakes when they didn't end up in our net. I actually think he's focusing more on defense and not jumping into the play or pinching at much, but that might be worse for him.
I think he has been inconsistent. Some years bad. Some much better. This year KAM seems to have been a mess compared to his better years.

Would Florida want to re-acquire Trocheck? Bennett is a group III this summer. I am not sure how much money Bennett wants in his next contract. He hasn’t signed an extension in Florida. They can't keep everyone. Zito is part of the Team USA management team with Guerin, Drury and Fitzgerald. Trocheck is signed for four more seasons at a good number. $5.625M. Tallon traded Trocheck to Carolina. Trocheck slides into their 2nd line role next season and he is valuable contributor this season. EF did say teams will climb buildings for Trocheck. NYC has a few newer very tall buildings like the Freedom Tower and Hudson Yards buildings. The Rangers should get a a really good return. Not futures based. Trocheck has the NMC this season and a 12 team NTC in July. He would probably waive for FLA. That team has become a destination for players.

Lundell would be perfect for the Rangers. A good two-way center. Still young 23. Signed for five more seasons at $5M AAV. The Rangers need a center like Lundell. Florida has those two-way centers. TB had Cirelli and Gourde. Vegas has Wild Bill.

Florida needs help on D. They lost Montour and OEL in the summer. UV18 seems like a guy they would like. His cap number is low. $1.1M. Florida takes him and turns him into a competent D. He is arb eligible in July.

Florida acquires Trocheck and UV18. The Rangers acquire Lundell and he fits perfectly into the group. Other smaller pieces are add on each side.

The Athletic did a feature on the top front offices in all four professional sports. Zito and Florida was mentioned as one of the top groups in pro sports. Zito was part of the group which picked Trocheck for the 4 Nations team.
If a team wants Trocheck. They’re not moving a piece like Lundell.
That would be insane.
Can we dial back the rhetoric and wishcasting at least slightly?

You move Trocheck you get futures, and picks. Not nhl players who have higher ceilings and locked in on better contracts.

Might as well say if we moved Panarin to Colorado we could get mackinnon if we threw in Lindgren.

It looks like he doesn't know his assignments. Appearing directionless and lost most games. I think it comes down to coaching. But how does a player lose all hockey senses just because he has a shitty D coach?

They would not have this issue if the Rangers did not ignore drafting dman in the 21 22 drafts. They’d be pro now. Outside of Mancini not much at the future. That is depressing as well.

Rangers spent a decent amount of draft capital over the last few seasons. It would have been nice if they lucked into a Hagel situation by over-paying instead of an endless rotation of players for assets. Unfortunately it's rate to see young players traded on teams that feel they won't be competitive anytime soon. Typically, those younger players are the ones you start the rebuild process with.

What’s Trochecks trade protection?
Magnum.

The service is such shit...

Every time I log in to a device it kicks out all other sessions.

If I'm working late and decide to stream the game from my work computer browser? Then the next time I fire up the app on my GoogleTV I have to do their whole sign in process again... which is super annoying as they don't have a "sign in on the web" option and I have to enter my entire username and password with arrow keys and an on-screen keyboard.

THAT is the thing that kills me. All these dinky services that don't have the development bandwidth to create usable apps.

I LOVE when they play on Max because it is a no hassle experience.

The Gotham app is armature hour.

Yeah, even though the subscription cost is outrageous I’d understand them cashing in on exclusivity but the quality of service you get in return is unacceptable

I told all of you guys kakko is easily a 30/30 guy somewhere else. Maybe we should have f***ing played him…
Lets pump the brakes. Its a few games and he has had some incredibly lucky points. He also received a lot of opportunity here and did nothing with it. He’s a third liner.

KAM has been pretty bad this season but he is 1 of our very few guys with size, speed, and youth. Makes it scary to think of moving him. Hopefully he bounces back. It’s a mental thing for him. The physical skills are there.
Miller has all the necessary attributes but his play hasn’t improved in the reading and executing components over all these years I no longer think it’s something he’s able to improve. Ie no toolbox as we say and IMO the proper course of action is to cash in on the value via trade before its Kakko’d

He needs a complicated statistical model to tell him the team that is 5th to last in the league, and 4-15 in its last 19 games, is a longshot to make the playoffs?

Thanks, Einstein.
But the “fact” that it’s 13% and not 15% is wildly important ;)

Who should they have taken?

Anyone because forwards was not an issue for the Rangers recently. Outside of Schneider, Mancini and Jones what young dman do the Rangers have in their system that has piotential and no Robertson and Scanlin don’t count. They are AHL vets for a reason, they suck.

yeah my point was more how big the falloff is from Fox to the other D but i dont know how to share just that reply without the stuff about the standings
That wasn't meant as a criticism of you. I've never been a fan of Dom or his model, and I feel some people rely too much on these types of things. In this particular case, it's akin to those government studies that spend millions of dollars to prove things that anyone with a shred of common sense would tell you is true.

In 2021, the next Dman taken that has even sniffed the NHL was at pick 60, 45 picks after Othmann in JJ Moser. Could argue Zellweger or Evans, who were taken 20 picks later.

The NHL draft has some luck tied to in along with their scouting. At the time, Othmann was the best pick available.

In 2022 the Rangers didn't pick until pick 63, literally no one aside from a handful of players from that pick through the end of the draft has played in the NHL. A total of 51 games of which Mancini has 15.

Fortescue and Emery, who they took in 2023 and 2024, respectively.

It's hard to keep the cupboard full when the team trades away so many picks. We have only had one 2nd round pick in the last 4 years and currently have none for the next 3 years. The one year we had a 2nd, we didn't have a 1st.

Over the last 3 drafts, we've only selected 15 players, and 10 of those players were taken in the 4th or later. We've done fairly well in those rounds recently, which makes things look a bit better, but the real impact players are usually selected in the top 2 rounds.

Im not sure what is going on with Kam. Housely was an offensive not defensive Dman. Not sure if he coaches the same way. 🙁

That is possible. Id have to know the details before moving KAM. Really need some defensive studs. Bring me Barry Beck ☺️

If they did this you'd be crying about how they drafted for need.

Their issue isn't that they "neglected" defensemen. It's that they haven't tried to make the obvious upgrades that they've needed at the position for years.
