I love listening to Boyle talk about this stuff.

GO OUT ON THE ICE AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

I can get behind all of this except the money thing.

Slats had Dolan pay Wade Redden the equivalent of 9 million today to be a all situations defenseman for the Connecticut Whale.

If we fire Laviolette I think we will be paying like 3 coaches money to not coach for us.

True on Redden, but for all the shit he gets Sather built an infrastructure that helped the Rangers be a top team in the league for a decade+ after the Dark Ages. It's all but gone now. Few have remained who remember it.

Brian Boyle is hopefully being groomed as the new Micheletti by MSG. The amount he "gets it" is refreshing.

Certainly more guys from that era of Rangers hockey. This team is severely lacking in accountability that those players had in spades. At least when Henrik was doing Head and Shoulders commercials in the offseason, he was there talking to the media after every game and practice during the season.

Great article by Brooks today. Been saying it since the season started.

Rotting core hurting the kids development. Trouba worst captain in Rangers history for the crap he pulled. Core's feelings are hurt, boo hoo.
Gotta say, he can write.
Also it would seem he's no longer concerned with his relationship with the players or management .
Good for him.

This season will ultimately be a god thing for the entire organization. Extract the tumors between now and the start of next season, and replenish the prospect pool with a couple additional firsts and a bunch of mid-rounders the team does well on.

I'll bag on Avery, but I'll hear it all day from Brian Boyle.

That guy did nothing but play the game right and more than overstayed his welcome in the NHL based on pure talent.

The Kakko defenders need to hear Boyle talk about making it in the league. No one got yo-yo'd more as a Ranger and it did nothing but make him a better player that was coveted by contenders around the league. Kakko never bought into the team game.

I think he needs/needed a president above him in the worst way. He’s a fine operative but he needs help with the big picture stuff.

The performance of himself and the team since July 1 doesnt warrant a firing necessarily, but it does warrant a demotion imo. Would love to hire a real POHO above him with a vision for what he wants the Rangers to be. drury is best suited as a hatchet man. Team's need those too.

Boyle also committed his summers to HARD work on skating. I know talent is talent, but you can make things a little bit better.

It was disappointing that Kakko didn't improve at skating at all. Kakko is one of the few guys I'll legitimately call soft and you know how I hate to lean on that.

I would love Woodcroft.

He had Edmonton playing 60% xGF hockey before Knoblauch swooped in and got all the credit for their shooting and goaltending normalizing.

Woodcroft is their Torts and Knoblauch is their AV.

And I'm not saying Knoblauch isn't or can't be a good coach, but right now, he's babysitting a great team that he didn't set the structure for.

People used to make fun of the Oilers with "oh, but they'll never play defense." They're low-key one of the top defensive teams in the league since the Woodcroft hire.
We can agree. I like Woodcroft. He is using his unemployment time to get better. Marek had him on his show.

The team definitely needs a coach that is team defense first, second and third on the list of priorities. If that's Woodcroft, I'm cool with it. I also want a guy who isnt going to be on the chopping block after 1.5 seasons. That's probably more to blame on the coach killing players, but the coach needs to be able to build a foundation.

Winnipeg could use either Miller or Lindgren in a trade and have some interesting youth options.

Perfetti+ for Miller or Lindgren+ for Lambert would be worth thinking about. Perfetti gets underplayed on their roster.

Larry and I had words years ago on Twitter, and the guy blocked me. We had major differences regarding the NHL and NHLPA.

But the dude nailed it here.

They need a coach that provides structure across the board. Structure that has the capability to be adaptable. It starts with the breakout of the defensive zone through how the team approaches moving through the neutral zone and enters offensive zone.

A team that is not afraid to to dump the puck in and cycle. Then a system when the other team has control of the puck and is trying to break out. Make the other teams D pay for making the outlet pass.

It all goes together.

The NHL in general has a coaching problem. Teams have been chweing through coaches lately. Carburry from Washington i think is around the 10th longest tenured coach for a team and he was hired in in 2023.

It’s getting a little ridiculous how fast teams are replacing coaches and how quickly players are tuning out coaches.

Edit: only 4 coaches have been with their team prior to 2022.

So basically in the past 2.5 season 28 teams have fired and hired at least 1 coach.
