I do love that everyone on this board can agree that Lindgren needs to go.

Agreed, but the irony (at least for me) is that Lindgren was the most likable and my favorite of this core before his body just broke down. Sad that the guy who personified grit and effort and all of the things we wish the rest of the team would show gave so much to this team over the past 4 years physically, that he’s now the first and easiest target for “he has to go”. Sadly, he’s the one guy where it’s 100% a case of simply not being capable of performing at an acceptable level anymore, rather than being a whiny bitch and playing at about 50% of the desired effort level.

I really respect Lindy. He is one of the guys that got everything he could out of his body and skills. Sadly his body could only take so much. I think he probably could have had 2-3 more years in his career if he played on the 3rd pairing for his whole career instead of the 1st paring.

Given the perceived lack of heart, especially from the 1C DJ Skibidi Zib and the “power forward, heart and soul” Chris… it’s very sad that this man simply no longer CAN give the team anything good.

Actually reminds me of a pet peeve in the military community. You’ll have guys who lost limbs or were killed in actual combat/bombings and guys who spent their entire military career in an air conditioned office in an MOS like finance, who processed payments and did nothing else and then they’ll “honor” some fat master sergeant at a sporting event and everyone stands and cheers and they say shit like “all gave some, some gave all”. Like, sure finance guy still got moved around to different bases and had to pack up and move his family and stuff, and that is a sacrifice, but… there’s basically two classifications of veterans. Ones who DID shit, and ones who didn’t. Lindgren is the “some gave all” category. Our friends got traded. We sacrificed too!

Not to mention, actually taking the time out to fully heal.

In High Altitoad
Lindgren should have been a bottom
Pair defender from day one.

Would have extended his career by a bit. His defensive game was good before that tanked but he’s always been miscast as a top 3 defender and was a #4 at his very best.

Heart and everything is great when you can play. He simply cannot play anymore. Lavi is doing no one any favors by continuing to spam him next to Fox or really play him at all.

Is there a tv channel with non stop 24-7-365 Chris Kreider standing in front of a brick wall reading exclusively poetry written by Mika Zibanejad?

Yesterday I had a conversation about Adam Fox hitting but now to be fair to Fox and Lindy these guys are a fairly smallish 1st pairing weight wise. What do they weigh? 180 pounds? 190 pounds? They are overmatched weight wise when going against some of the leagues stronger forwards on the boards and in front of the net. I was a smaller guy. I remember in 1 practice we did a keep away the puck drill and I felt totally overmatched against a guy that was 30-40 pounds heavier. I did some other things well (skate, deke) but in that drill I had no chance.

Still haven't tried Mika scratched for a game.
They could do that to give fans something to applaud but will it help without a good center to replace him? Mika has had some games of much lower minutes. I'm not against benching him but I would feel better about it if we had a good replacement. Vince and Chytil are not excelling at this point either.

I’m 5’10 but I was a gym rat away from the rink so at my peak, I skated at like 210 in college. I used to blow up 6’2 guys who were 170-180 routinely. I was like a bowling ball and they were like a plank of wood. Obviously these were also young kids between 18-21 mostly, but yeah absolutely, the weight difference is significant with some of the guys they’ve been expected to handle as the top pair. They see more of the Malkins and Ovies and Tkachuks than another pairing would and they’re not built for that type of physicality.

2024 is different (guys are bigger) but back in my day I often noticed it was the 5-11 200 pound guys that often excelled. The guys built like solid fire hydrants. Guys like Bryan Trottier.

The forwards you mentioned will wear guys out fast on defense in the playoffs. Ovie is obviously older now but imagine being 185 pounds having to fight that guy off at 240 pounds when he was in his prime. Guys going to retrieve the puck on the end boards must have felt like a train was coming.

Panarin is elite, to say he's not is foolishness

Drury should be replaced first before any trades are made, before any coaching changes are made. He's had his time, it's time to move on, i think he's too much of a narcissistic dick to be a gm.

Yes we should definitely reward the narcissistic dick players by firing the GM trying to improve the team. Who would be your pick for the new GM?

Lavi doing all the things he did before he was canned in Washington.

This was my fear with hiring him to begin with.

I think it's going to be Peca's job before long. The organization seems to be standing by Laviolette but the guy has no clue what he's doing adjustment wise. If they keep losing they have no choice.

The idea of trading Panarin at the draft for a haul then signing a player like Rantanen would be like playing 8D chess though Rantanen would likely not want to come to a club that is re-tooling.

Who knows, Panarin did.
