Vegas punted so many players since they entered the NHL in 2017. TB threatened to place McD on waivers if he did not accept a trade to Nashville. Trucker is back in Tampa. He was annoyed by Tampa's tactics. The other players on TB did not go on strike.
Not only that, McD came back to Tampa.

You keep coming back to 0 goals. How many goals do you think Fox should have right now? What number would qualify him for having a good season in your eyes? And how many points in the standings do you imagine that number of goals gaining us from where we are now?
60 goals leading to an undefeated record seems fair if 0 goals is also fair. 😂

Add the road trip to Vegas, Colorado and Utah.

How many points?

They had to know change was coming because they finished 29th out of 32 teams? You and Drury have very high standards. And the similarities apparently don’t stop there.

Hahaha I wish I had Drury’s job if that’s want you’re implying. And yes 29th out 32 is great in Columbus but in NY the number is 1 in 85 years. We’re the only American original 6 team to not win a Cup this century. The post-rebuild Rangers did not even reach the heights of the Lundqvist era with significantly more talent. We have a foundation of sub 25 year old talent that is entering their prime years and I’m not about to let a group of moping, aging veterans derail that.

We can have all the discussions in the world about renovating the forward group, but until this defense is addressed, no forward group is going to succeed.

It's really going to have to be trade targets in order to fix the backend. There are some internal options like Mancini for 3RD, but the left side is so bad that there really is no internal options. Fortescue is not ready yet (minimum 2 season out, more likely 3) and the others are losing time to become 3LD options (Robertson, Jones, etc).

Took a look at the UFA/RFA options from this upcoming class and a few stood out to help the left side of the ice:

Bowen Byram (RFA)
Dylan Samberg (RFA)
Jakob Chychrun (UFA)
Ivan Provorov (UFA)
Vladislav Gavrikov (UFA)
Marcus Pettersson (UFA)
Oliver Kylington (UFA)

Byram likely costs a bunch based on trade value and Buffalo is going to want to shake their team up, we're also not in a position to offer sheet if they are a lottery team.

Chychrun is going to try and cash in on 7/1 if he does not re-sign with Washington. Provorov is likely the same. Gavrkiov is going to make a pretty penny too, but I tend to think he is worth it compared to Chychrun and Provorov. He's much more consistent than the others. I

I would have taken the chance on Kylington this offseason, but that ship sailed. He also got hurt and hasn't played much this season, so maybe he'll have reasonable demands this summer.

Pettersson has gotten better each season, so he may be an option too. Samberg is interesting because Winnipeg is paying a lot this season for their team, and have a bunch of UFAs including Ehlers. If they want to keep a few UFAs, Samberg might be capped out and exposed as a trade candidate in the summer.

Also Lindgren is not a UFA option and should not be one at all. Hopefully Drury liquidates and helps push this team in a better direction.

The team needs a young center to play with Lafreniere, and a young left D to play with Fox. Cozens and Byram. Buffalo needs to do something. They need a RHD and a C as per their fans on the trade board. The team has regrets on the Cozens contract. I think it's a steal in the right situation. Schneider/Lindgren/Chytil for Byram and Cozens. We can take on the salary easily.

Cozens is exactly what we need. He will flourish outside of Buffalo playing between Lafreniere and Cuylle. A young, strong line that can set the tone. I know the concern on Byram with the injuries but swapping him for Chytil is trading risk for risk. The Rangers cant really on Chytil going forward, as much as I love him. Sabres have a true 1C in Tage that Fil can slot behind. Byram has the upside of a top 4 guy, he played it well as a rookie to the Cup with the Avs. I dont love dealing Schneider but there is organizational depth on the right side and he hasnt taken the leap I wanted with additional minutes. Just seems like the guy Buffalo would really covet, unless they love Mancini.

People don't like my JT Miller agenda so I'll drop it and suggest a new one lol.

I don't understand the timing of the KK move and what was returned. can't believe that a they've been eyeing a 6/7th dman all this while as a replacement for the 2OA that they gave up on...
KK was a goner the minute he mouthed off to the press about being scratched and then publicly pointed the finger at Lavvy as the reason. If he hadn't been traded when they did, he would most likely have rotted in the press box which would have made it impossible to even give him away. And I doubt they were eyeing Borgen as a swap for KK all this time.

You think Fox should have 60 goals?
Obviously I was kidding but as a largely finese dman making over $9 mill a year who doesn't bring speed or physical play I would hope for more than 0 goals in 34 games. Do you think that is an unfair hope?

I believe KK even said things were in the works before he spoke out. Could it have played a role? Possibly but I don't think that is why KK was traded.

I think that we don't have a largely finesse dman making over $9mil a year who doesn't bring speed or physical play on our roster.

But mainly I just think you didn't answer any of my questions.

I think Panarin was a good move and Gorton was looking for his Chara in NY when he signed Trouba. If Trouba performs up to his contract we probably have a cup and he's still here. We also thought some of our #1 picks would be playing bigger roles but the scouting under Gorton was very hit or miss.
I don’t believe Gorton had anything to do with Panarin or Trouba.
I believe JD overrode the rebuild.

Yes it is very hard to imagine Leetch scoring less goals than Lindy/Mancini. That is why I think out of 18 year career you probably just picked the worst stretch you could find. How many goals did he end up with in that season?

You give me a lot of credit if you think I went through his entire career to find his worst possible stretch. I just started with his first full year (the year before this) and looked for the first prolonged stretch and it was in his second year. A year after he scored 23 goals. It's not particularly uncommon for offensive defenseman to go long stretches without scoring.

Weegar scored 20 goals last year and he has one goal in his last 28 games.

Hmmm, do you think Fox is

1. A speedy skater?
2. A physical player?
3. Signed for less than $9 mill?

I said I was kidding when I said Fox should score 60 goals but I would hope for more than 0 goals in 34 games. I'm pretty sure Fox would as well.

Fox had 0 5v5 goals the first 27 games just last year. He ended with 9 which was a career high.
I hope he has a repeat. He has proven he can do it so if I'm the coaches I push him to get back there again while also being in more control of the puck. Its not like Im against Fox. I just want him to play at a higher level. Ditto CK, Mika, KAM, & Laf. Go be the players you are capable of being.

He scores at the pace of one. An he already has some hardware to back it up. My concern would be longevity but the Rangers aren't helping matter by overplaying him.
My point is your comment about longevity. I don't think it's there with this guy and that is why I have been on the side to trade him bc players of his (lack of) physical skill generally do not age well.

Let me put it this way. If you were a defenseman in the NHL who was among the absolute elite of the elite shut-down defensemen in the world would you put a lot of stock in your goal totals when evaluating your play?

And if you noticed it was really low (not 0 btw) would you really get hung up on that when you're pacing for over 60 points on the year without more than 1 goal?

You have this image of the player you think Fox is or is supposed to be that is not only inaccurate to who the player is and has always been, it's actually underselling what he accomplishes and what his ceiling is. Fox is not a "finesse"-heavy player, unless by finesse, you're talking about the kind of poise, deception, and intelligence that are utilized to similar effect by noted shut-down players like Nik Lidstrom. He's not a player that shies away from contact. He kills penalties, blocks shots, hits. He's a plus player on a minus team, while leading them in minutes played. He leads the team in assists. Panarin is still on the team, and Adam Fox leads the team in assists.

You're hung up on goals. Roman Josi has 7 goals and is a -20. Would you say he's having the better season?

There has to be a trade coming out of the freeze with that last game against NJ right? I was there unfortunately, let’s just say the best part was the cheese steak egg rolls in the suite I was in. Worst game I’ve ever seen them play, which I feel like I said when they played Calgary but really that was putrid

The Norris trophy is pretty determinant of if a player's getting into the HOF. Among eligible players (not active, and has been more than 5 years since they retired), Randy Carlyle is the only Norris winner who isn't in the HOF. And Fox already has more finishes as a Norris finalist and more post-season All Stars than Carlyle had in his career.
Your post is disingenuous. During the time period you are referencing how many players only won a single Norris and made the hof? There are usually spurts that are dominated by 2 or 3 d men that lead the voting annually like the lidstroms, the Chara's, the makars. They may not win it every year but they're right by the top.

Ohh and is pk subban going to the Hall of fame? He won a Norris? Mark Giordano?

Usually the elite d men win multiple norris during their careers, and there is a legit argument to make that he shouldn't have won it the year he did.

And i didn't get a chance to respond to your post in the other thread about corai based on partners but I think you can also look at those numbers and objectively break them down further than you did. Fox has been away from lindgren after lindgren came back to the lineup. I would like to see those stats. He was away from lindgren at the start of the year when he was hurt and EVERY season people overrate offensive stats from the first 4-6 weeks of the season while teams are still trying to settle into their d structure. The rangers also played a cupcake schedule at the start of the season during the time period that you pumped fox's stats. No one argues that he doesn't carve up bad teams at times, it's about doing what other elite players do which is carving up good teams. There was an actual debate on this board at a point a couple years ago that fox was as good as makar and better than Quinn Hughes. Both look comical just a couple years later.
