Wonder what a Stamkos for Zibanejad trade could look like and if it would be of interest to both parties. It hasn't worked out for him in Nashville but playing with Panarin and Fox should open up his one timer, and he's a real leader we could use.

Stamkos has a pulse. We can't have that in NYC.

I wonder how it feels to watch your goalie reject huge contract offers and demand to be payed even more because he claims he's "the best and most important player on the team" and so your captain gets traded in order to make cap space (disregarding the fact that was still the right thing to do) and now your "best, most important player on the team" is getting lit up again and again and spends more time whining to the refs about shit than he does focusing and making saves

My new years wish is good lottery luck at the Draft. Hoping for a top 3 pick.

SELL. Some pieces (Panarin at 50%, Miller, and Kreider) will give us a good return. (Exeptions are Fox, Schneider, Cuylle, Laf and Perreault).

Heti rid of Zib somehow.

Do a proper rebuild this time and not some half ass retool.

Stamkos and Mika swap would be huge if we could pull it off. We need a guy who has won a bunch and has real leadership pedigree. They’re both PP specialists at this point but the leadership upgrade would be big.

I very much doubt Panarin wants to go play with Ovechkin based on things we can’t really talk about on this forum. They’re on opposite sides of an issue that’s very important to one of them if not both.

I think you can retool or rebuild in ways that aren't just trying to run a bunch of new draft picks out there and hope they'll learn how to be star NHL players. Find a mix of quality vets to play with the younger players, make sure the younger players get opportunities, make smart moves to bring in important parts and if that means signing a high dollar UFA then that's fine as long as it's all put together well.

You don't have to just torpedo the team for the next 5 years to "build through the draft". Drafting it important obviously but so are smart trades and signings and you can get a team up and running in playoff contention real quick

You're not supposed to notice that. It's also kind of funny that the 2 biggest problems the team had for this entire run (Goodrow and Trouba) are now gone and the team is exponentially worse. Speaks to an intangible problem because those guys absolutely sucked at hockey by the end (outside of Goodrow's Druce-esque run). Speaks to an extremely toxic locker room culture.

This is going to be a process guys. Even if this years deadline ‘only’ yields returns on the pending UFA’s that’s a step in the right direction. Lindgren, Smith, Vesey, Borgen, Quick. I realize that’s not ‘sexy’ but that’s a lot of turnover after Kakko and Trouba already this year. I think we need to temper our expectations a bit that some of these larger conversations may be offseason deals.

In saying all of that, if even one of the non pending UFA’s is traded along with the group above that’s a HUGE lift for Drury and his team in a short amount of time.

I dont think it's that deep. Two athletes with differing political views doesnt mean anything it happens on every team. I dont think the Caps would be interested because of the cost and Panarin's track record in the playoffs.

maybe we can get one of those misprinted Fanatics t-shirts for Borgen at the deadline. one that has an upside down Rangers logo on the front and LINDOR 12 on the back. now i want a shirt like that actually.

Agreed, and there’s really no reason to rush this process. We all want changes but there has to be some prudence.

Agree to disagree. I get the impression it’s very personal to Panarin. And it’s not like political views in the US, the stakes are a lot different imo.

How so? You think a franchise implodes in a week. This has been a building process.

Some of you are so ignorant of how this stuff happens and that's okay because you just don't know, but then you act so arrogant it's comical.
It was a joke dude

Did you forget Panarin had to take a leave from the team to go to Russia to deal with family/political issues? That divide is very real for Panarin.

We know exactly how it works:
- Drury sends a memo
- the league ignores his memo
- someone accused Drury if 'sort tampering'
- Drury trades someone
- league complains they didn't know about a potential trade

Panarin & Ovechkin are friends and Ovechkin participates in Panarin’s charity game every year

It wasn't, it's been ongoing with that poster thinking I'm making things up and every time items become public it gets skirted and hit with a snide remark. Might end up going the edge route soon and just stop. I should have known it would play out this way.

If you started with the memo then you have no idea what's happening

you must have me confused with someone else? we argued about Jake Guentzel or something but otherwise I don't think I ever said you made anything up.

hah, ok, didn't know the history

I think it was pretty obvious shit went off the rails in the summer with the attempted Trouba trade. All the "tried to force a trade" and "Trouba let it be known he wouldn't report" and all the smoke around that and it was obvious things weren't going well, even if the details that were reported may or may not have been correct.

I'm somewhat more convinced there's more lockerroom issues going on than just "everyone hates chris drury" but whatever, it's a mess, they can all go for all I care at this point

I'm too old and got to much stuff to worry about to see a bunch of whiny shithead players/GMs/owners break down and give a single f*** about whatever excuses they have
