Lafreniere, Lindholm/Ekholm, Cirelli, Girgensons and Marcus Foligno in

Hank retires, Strome out, Staal blasted into orbit.

Profit.

Marcus Foligno is a strong contender for the C in MIN apparently, so we're probably not getting him.

A guy i'd like to get for our bottom 6 is Johan Larsson.

IF ADA signed longish term...

Chytil, Lundkvist maaaybe + for Cirelli

yay or nay? Seems fair value

edit - f*** it, throw in Lias
I don't think Tampa would say yes to this.
Win-now teams with a cap crunch don't ship out RFAs in their early 20s who can be bridged.
Doubly so with Cirelli's unique skillset and Center position.

Yes. Bozak is a great cover for 2C/3C in case Chytil can't do it full time. He should be cheap to acquire as well. Obviously not long-term, but in the short-term he will work.
Yeah, he only has a year left, maybe give him another year or two year contract after that and at some point he and Chytil flip spots

The guys this really effect are going to be Lemieux, Gauthier and Kravtsov. Probably Barron as well. Even if, moving forward Kreider moves to RW or goes to the 3rd line it’s going to be difficult for those guys to get enough minutes to prove themselves. Specifically on the PP
I have a sneaking suspicion Barron becomes a really important bottom 6 player for us. The combination of game and contract status (especially vis-a-vis the others you mentioned) is perfect for this team given where they are in their lifecycle.

But then, I’ve been a fan since his draft year.

I understand we are all excited but can someone tell me why the hell people want to trade for Eichel or any other huge contract? We hit the jackpot, let's keep doing what we are doing and continue to add pieces to this team. Can't force any bad trades or sign any bad contracts, that will negate anything good that we do.

if a deal that makes sense comes along, of course you look into it but as for all these big names with big contracts, screw that. I'm keeping our guys until we have more things figured out and i will enjoy it very much. Keep building this core, it has the potential to be the best core in a very very long time for the NYR.

I may in the minority here, but I don't love Cirelli.

I like him, I'm not against trading for him. But he's not as primary of a target for me as he seems to be for others.
he can fly, is great defensively and is budding offensively. Will be moderately priced concerning Cap

IMO he's the type of center we need. We need defense... we're like the opposite of Torts' NYR

The one benefit I see to trading for Eichel would be that he's under contract for 6 more years, which means this team then wouldn't need to give a 29 year old Zibanejad a huge contract in 2 years

Well offering Kreider who makes more than Barkov, and Strome who will command a similarly large contract does not seem very logical then
I'm not the one who made that offer.
I suggested
to NYR: Barkov, Stillman
to FLA: 1st OA, CAR 1st, Andersson, Strome

I think he's good, don't get me wrong. But when we start getting into trading Chytil, and Lundkvist, and then other pieces, I'm hopping out of the plane.

Kreider is keeping someone out of the top 9 that I'm not aware of?

Top-9 wingers will be:

Kreider
Panarin
Laf
Kakko
Kravtsov
Buchnevich
Possibly Gauthier
Possibly Chytil

Gauthier they could put on the fourth line. Chytil they could keep at C. Problem solved then. My guess is they trade Buchnevich, but it's just a hunch.

Does this make it easier to let Fast walk?

But then we are short another center when Zibanejad leaves, it makes no sense.

Normally I'd agree.. TB is going to have to make some tough decisions this off-season.

They can gut their depth to pay for some of their RFAs and 'defense'. But its robbing Peter to pay Paul... They have decent chance of becoming the TML

Which of these young RFAs would you trade Georgiev for straight up? Who is attainable at that price?

Henrik Borgstrom
Tyson Jost
Luke Kunin
Jack Roslovic
Casey Mittelstadt

And I don't really think there's a need to push Kreider out the door.

Look, barring something strange, Lafreniere will pass him in the next few years and Kreider will still be productive.

Rangers can always trade him then, after they figure out their RWs, and have an idea Chytil's direction, and a bunch of other answers.

And, if by some chance Kreider does start to slip, he's a guy who could slide into a third line role where scoring is less key focus, as much as speed and disruption is.

We really don't need to be going bonkers right now.

Laf/Mika/???
Panarin/???/Kakko
Kreider/Chytil/???

Buch, Fast, Strome and Kravtsov, (who I will reiterate has shown very good chemistry with Chytil going back to their first camp together)...those are the likely options. Someone is getting dealt for an LD to play next to Trouba. My guess remains Buch.

And while we mention the benefits of a talent like Lafreniere on an ELC, this is an example of where it can help because his addition doesn't automatically mean that we have to subtract Strome or Fast.

Agreed that something has to give this offseason for Tampa.
But I think we'd be more likely to see something like a 1y bridge for Cirelli, dump Johnson/Killorn with a 1st to whoever wants them, and then let Seattle take the other.
By this time next year, you'd still have the best center depth in the league plus an elite top 4D rounded out with Kuch and Vas.

I don't think the Tampa situation is as dire as people think it is considering expansion and how neither Johnson nor Killorn actually have bad contracts.
