Yes about the fit but is this an indictment on Nolan?

One lesson to all - Flyers made a mistake trading Schenn when they did and for what they did (a placeholder "depth" vet) unnecessarily putting more pressure on Patrick and exposing him to tougher competition than what he was ready.
I don't think they made a mistake at all.
Getting 2 1sts for an offense-first 20-25g 50p-60p guy is a slam dunk. League is full of those guys.

Only if rebuild fails, otherwise it would be a completely different situation.

Yes you are right. That is why I said could. Maybe can is the right grammer? Have a feeling that the older I get, my english get worse and worse :) Anyway, let us hope the rebuild turns out OK.

That’s where I think Winnipeg’s baseline ask will be this summer — a first-round pick and a top-level defensive prospect. Will Tampa Bay be willing to pay that much (or more) for Trouba? That’s well above my pay grade, but I believe the Lightning have the assets to step up and bring Trouba’s time in Winnipeg to a close.

No thank you.

Yes please.

Miller thinks Trouba would good in Detroit. Go Stevie Y.

I guarantee you whoever gets Trouba is going to pay a lot to get him and then give him a bad contract.

Sounds right for TB. They need to stop trying to stack the roster even more and get a competent coach and some guys who have the attitude needed to win in big moments. Having said that I’m happy to watch them keep falling short.

I hope TB gets Trouba or Karlsson and gives them a big contract. We’ll be here waiting to take that Callahan contract from you for a price.

I think the real lesson here is don’t make a rash move before you know what you really have.

Does Andersson count as an A prospect? Or Howden

While this board might not universally agree, probably.

But I also think the whole first and a prospect for Trouba is a bit generous. That doesn’t necessarily give Winnipeg what they need now, and now is a good time to have it.

So when we say prospect, I tend to think the ask is preferably a young player. I think Winnipeg would accept they aren’t getting a player equal to Trouba in return, but I don’t see them kicking the can 2-4 years down the road on a couple of unknowns.

I think they prefer bodies back - be it a kid like ADA, or someone like that with another team. And remember this isn’t going to be a closed process. There will be a number of teams tracking this process.

I agree I think any deal would have to include an NHLer going to Winnipeg. Whether that's Skjei or Pionk or ADA from us I would imagine one of those would be in the deal as well as that prospect and a draft pick.

I was against the rebuild when it was first announced.

Similarly, when Liverpool finished 8th in 2015-16, and proceeded to not immediately address major needs, wanted to dig a hole and crawl in it.

As I sit here almost four years later, I can honestly say I would do it all over again times ten.

The Rangers can do whatever they need to do.

It was bad enough listening to Yankee fans pretend to have the blueprint having lived through a “rebuild.”

This is somehow a worse analogy.

The Yankees got a bit lucky. They were definitely going on a full rebuild and struck diamonds with three prospects.

As for Liverpool, they finished behind Southampton. They're a Liverpool feeder club. That's like the Wolfpack being in the NHL and having more points than the Rangers.

Lovren, Clyne, Lallana, Lambert, Mane, van Dijk, Crouch. It's crazy how many have made that move

Very lucky, which is why it drove me nuts when people thought the Rangers could turn it around just as quickly and cited the Yankees as proof that it could happen.

We're still a ways away and are carrying too much dead weight.

As much as I want Trouba, given our current makeup, it may just be better to wait until next year for him. Forget the assets it’ll take to require him. They need to figure out how ADA progresses and Fox translates this season, especially since both will be competing for that primary PPQB spot. If they can utilize both in different roles, it helps slot the RHD deployment more cleanly. I still think it’s lacking a certain element, but at least it’ll increase the efficiency of the defensive group with ADA and Fox both working.

If Trouba were UFA, it’d be a different, much easier story.
