Since Trouba is unlikely to come off the PP, and I'd want to not run 3-2 on both units...I think you'd just keep Trouba/Fox/Tony on the PP units (one ends up 3-2 while the other 4-1) and add no other D.

You don't NEED a LD on the PP, especially if it A) sacrifices better PP players in Fox/DeAngelo and B) makes BOTH units a 3-2 setup, which is inferior.

Again, this is assuming Trouba is a 100% fixture on the PP because, let's be honest, he is even if he's not great at that spot compared to Tony/Fox.

If they had Lehtonen I would hope Panarin and DeAngelo PP1 And Lehtonen w Fox PP2

Trouba is more valuable as a 1st pair shutdown guy. I hope he focuses on that element of his game

Yes, but this is operating under the very likely situation that Quinn isn't going to pull Trouba from the PP in general.

This is brutal. If people hate Strome on here, I’d love to see their reaction to Wennberg who’s afraid of physicality and doesn’t shoot unless he has a wide open net

Columbus fans seem to think he's good defensively, just overpaid. Which the 50% retention would fix. And at least he doesn't have a -17 penalty differential

Why do we think he won’t? Trouba went from first PP option among the defense to third very quickly. I think if Lehtonen were to sign and prove to be a better option there he would play.

issue is, the RHD were often the only RH shots on PP2.

Does that move Fox/Trouba to PP1, or off the PP entirely?

I think NYR like the 1-3-1 on PP1 and are unlikely to change it.

I don’t think Fox will be kept off PP1 for very long. That puts him and ADA on that unit. Leaving Trouba and someone else on PP2. It also helps strengthen that second units forward group dropping someone like Strome down as that 2nd unit needs help.

I don’t think Fox will be on PP1 because that completely disrupts the entire structure of the unit to have two D spots. The D LW Net Front and Bumper are pretty much set leaving only the right side open. Fox can be on it over DeAngelo but not with DeAngelo.

it going to be

Kreider
Panarin Mika LHS Forward
DeAngelo or Fox

And my formatting didn’t work.

I really think we should toy with the idea of bringing Kravtsov up if this season restarts mostly to see what he can do on the pp from the right side.

Just a thought, but Strome to CBJ for Wennberg @50% + something?

If we are trading Strome, let it be for a Brassard-type return. I doubt it happens, but a kid like Roope Hintz, Anthony Cirelli, Anthony Beauvillier or someone in that mold (age, upside etc). Capitalize on Strome's value. If you can't get something useful, just keep him because Strome is more useful to this team than the collection of assets we'd get in return. A 1-for-1 trade is what we would need in this case. Same goes for a DeAngelo trade

Roope Hintz because we're going to slowly transform the Rangers into a team of All-Star Names

So, to recreate the Brass trade...

Ryan Strome + 7th rounder (We have a bunch anyway)
for
Roope Hintz + 2nd rounder

We can sign Strome to a deal Dallas wants, pay the signing bonus and ship him off to the Stars.
