Eh, people were saying 'let Seattle claim Lindgren, we'll be fine' just a few months back. All our D prospects are trash until they make it and then everyone was the first to believe in them.
Well I think that was mostly just me. And it wasn't that that I was ok with losing Lindgren, but I wasn't going to panic about losing him considering that we're going to lose someone. I've changed my tune on that one, but I don't think we should expect the same progression for each of our LD prospects because Lindgren experienced it.

I didnt write down names, but it seemed to be the majority opinion.

I think it's sponsors only. I don't have a search function. They are trying to pit us against each other.
I used to have Search but haven't lately
maybe since the upgrade that led to all the delayed/duplicate posts

Halak signs for another year at 2.25M in Boston. They do a great job of keeping their core at team friendly deals...
I like Halak, but 3.5 mil a lot for a backup to Rask. Hard to see how he doesn’t make it to 10 games.

40-17-10 over the two seasons with Boston with about a .920 sv%. 2.25M cap hit is peanuts for a quality back up.
Oh right. Duh. Performance bumps dont affect cap hit. I stand corrected. And again- big Halak fan here.

In terms of NHL LD for 2020-2021, off the top of my head there's:

Marc Staal (33)
Brendan Smith (31)
Ryan Lindgren (22)
Yegor Rykov (23)
Libor Hajek (22)
K'Andre Miller (20)

Nils Lundqvkist (19) is not signed yet but my suspicion is that he will be so you can add him to the list. Him and Miller will likely need a year in Hartford for seasoning but you never know. Smith and Staal are buyout candidates but we'll see.

Bottom line, at the moment no slots are open and there's a lot of competition. Doubt Mikko Lehtonen subjects himself to that uncertainty by signing with the Rangers. If I were his agent I'd advise him against it.

I actually think Nils Lundkvist might be ready to play in the NHL right now but not on the left side. A fan asked him about playing the left side in an interview on the Rangers official site a couple/three weeks back and you could see he was taken aback. He didn't say he couldn't do it but he pretty much said he's never really played the position and IMO you're not going to put a 19/20 year old defensemen in the NHL playing on an unfamiliar side.

That said Lundkvist is a fantastic prospect and IMO No. 2 after Shesterkin. He's been in the SHL already for 3 years and he broke in as a defensive minded guy. By the end of this year his offensive game just blossomed. The SHL is a for serious league. As a 19 year old he's probably not very far from where Fox is now.....and that's a glut on our right side and maybe he ends up in Hartford because of it. But he's got a great skillset and a toolbox.

As far as our left side Lindgren is the only one ready who really has proven to be a keeper. Rykov's season was just one injury after another and I don't really think we saw what he can do. Hajek has a good skillset--size, skates and handles the puck really well but he's had two pro seasons already and the two way game he had in the WHL has not carried into the pros for some reason. He seems to wilt under heavy forecheck pressure as well. He should be doing better. Miller's got a great skillset but he's still working on the toolbox.

If Lehtonen signed with us I think he'd have a very good chance to make the team. I don't think the Rangers would have an issue with moving Smith to forward or even scratching him. I think the Rangers still do like Staal though--not necessarily enough to sign him again though. I don't see them buying him out but I do think 20-21 is his last year with us.

I've been saying "play Hajek the requisite games and expose him," but that's just me.
