Speculation: Roster Building thread: Part XIX (Thanks, Sam)

Don’t you need all your own picks to even make a serious offer sheet?
It depends on the offer. The compensation is always the following year's picks, so if we were to offer sheet someone this summer, the compensation would include picks in 2026. The picks would have to be our own, not ones that originally belonged to other teams.

Depending on the level of the offer, the compensation varies from nothing up to four 1st round picks. If we give Pittsburgh this year's 1st, we will then have our 1st and 3rd in 2026 that could be used for an offer sheet.

If we have our 1st and 3rd, we could offer someone a contract in the $4,580,917 - $6,871,374 range.

How would people feel about Nic Hague? Vegas has a ton of money tied up on the Blue line as it is, and is going to be a RFA.
Has a ton of size & plays with an edge, but his skating is poor. I'd like him for our 3rd pair if we didn't have already have five 3rd pair d-men on the roster. He's not an upgrade on K'andre for the 2nd pair & he's not talented enough for 1st pair minutes, IMO.

Listen, folks, the Mika stuff is getting a bit tribal again.

We need to take a breath here.

Would that be tribe “65 points is a LOT more than 59 points” vs tribe “65 points is PRETTY close to 59 points” or am I missing something other than middle school quality crushes?

Yeah like in that AAV range they’d have be betting on a super undervalued player which obviously drury wont be doing

Tbh I don't know why people pay any attention at all to the post game stuff. What do you want them to say?

Are we looking for a Jim Mora rant?

Ok, that sounds like fun, but the Saints team he ranted about finished 3-13 and the Colts team he ranted about finished 6-10 and he got fired. It doesn't make anything any better.

I personally want more of a Mike Gundy rant.

i would not mind it. Underrated defensive dman but, is he a top 4? Or more 5-6?

How about Hague and Roy. Rangers can use a 3rd line center. Unless someone likes Roobroeck makes the team out of camp, not many options in Hartford.

Vegas isn't letting Roy go. He's on a great contract & is a swiss army knife for them...can fill in at 2C, but slots in nicely at 3C or 4C. Wins a lot of draws, scores timely goals, plays tough, skates well. Excellent role player.

The fact that there seems to be no one discussing Drury getting canned has me more worried than laviollete.

I have 0 faith in Drury to do anything other than make a draft pick. His draft record looks to be solid. Hs FA signings are mediocre, his trades are pretty brutal, he is an arrogant asshat, and from the rumblings players, staff, etc, no body really likes him.

Come on Dolan, do your thing. Fire someone! Go crazy!

Fun drury draft fact. It took Demidov 2:31 TOI to match the entire production of Drurys 2021 draft

tbf those were basically his worst two years and he pretty consistent had 9+ win teams. i mean this man had the pre Brees Saints winning 10-12 games. just dont wanna see my boy Jim catching strays he doesn’t deserve lol.

The only skill that matters. Generational.

This question is best answered by the HFNYR Docs. I'll defer to them, other than to say he was favoring it pretty obviously two games ago against the Canes when he basically gave up on a play which lead directly to a goal.
Even when it’s structurally sound again, the area can be sensitive I guess.
