If the Rangers hired Tortorella, Panarin is staying. I hope all the anti-Panarinites are willing to accommodate that.
wild beat chummed the waters. it's the same as the peterka thing. other teams can offer better than we can.Where is this Rossi talk coming from? Did I miss something
He’s talking about Zach HymanWtf you actually admitted this?

Trading Lafreniere for Rossi absolutely, at a minimum, has potential to make us better. You’d get a top six center in for a winger, and you’d get cap relief. It would be a slam dunkId trade Trocheck for Rossi in a heartbeat and I dont consider Trocheck to being among the chief culprits of the decline this season. But if you can move a 30 year old undersized 2/3 C for a guy with upside in his 20s at a position of need its a no-brainer. trading Lafreniere or K'Andre for Rossi doesnt make us better now or later. It's just robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Which is why trading Goodrow and Trouba was so stupid.Kreider out. Sam Bennett in. I dont want that to be how it plays out, but that is the most Rangers way to operate.
I just dont think our young core sucks as much as they are made out to. Lot's of people talking emotionally about how screwed we are but you have to take this season with a grain of salt. There are obviously major internal/locker room issues with this roster. Being led by a core group that the fans and front office obviously dont believe in is a tough situation for any player to thrive. People downplay leadership, but without a leader, you have nothing in any field. Guys can say all they want after games, but no one on the Rangers plays like a leader on the ice. People will come at me for thinking that is important as they usually do, but every other good team has strong centralized leadership and we do it by committee with a bunch of shrinking violets.
I’m a thousand percent serious. Dump Laviolettedown now and have Torts issue an ultimatum: show me you want to be here or you’re gone over the summer. f*** all of them. They quit on each other, the organization, the fans, the city. I’m out for blood. Bring in Torts and make them cryProblem
I would expect they would want a C back, and Mika says no.lotta capspace. retained panarin? kreider?
lafreniere miller perreault
cuylle rossi zibanejad
kreider trocheck berard
He was pretty instrumental in building the defensive structure of the 2013-2014 team. It just all fell apart so quickly once AV started digging his claws in and the team made pretty much every wrong personnel decision.
Lafreniere has gone from 0.7ppg to 0.6ppg. Tro has gone from 0.9ppg to 0.7ppg. What's MOST disappointing is that we were hoping for progress, while Laf has regressed. Though nowhere near as badly as Kreids, Zib, Pan. The team as a whole has regressed, but Laf has had the least severe drop in points amongst last years top six forward group.Lafreniere, Kreider & Zibanejad pretty objectively have had worse seasons. Trocheck is not without blame but he was one of the few that (futilely) tried to change the tide during the disastrous Nov-Dec, based on his contract his baseline expectations should align closer to a good 3C rather than 1C he's been doing as Panarin partner (and inability of Zibanejad to meet expectations for this role).
@eco's bones made this observation already but it did worth mentioning production from key leaders in this latest 1-4 team's spiral.
He was.
But the team was also markedly different in 13-14 than 12-13. 13-14 was the first full season of Zucc, Kreider, Pouliot, Brassard. Thats almost half our top 9.
I guess it just concerns me hiring a guy who had players like Zuccarello and Kreider d**king around in the minors because he couldn't wrap his head around how to use them.
I dont see a perfect storm where some of the team learns to play a grind-y hardnosed game with a bunch of talented depth suddenly arriving to ride that wave. Its possible of course, I just dont think its likely. More likely is he either crashes out spectacularly like in Vancouver or we end up riding our grinders to the post season a few times until he burns out and we're no better off than we were.

And yes, it's more than just points... for most of the team.
We have too many wingers as it is. You have to try internal solutions there. Also it creates a spot for Gabe. You’d have to pay Rossi, but it’s probably less, or similar than Lafreniere, and we need that money at center; not at wing. Balances the team out better. If I can move any of our wingers for a top 6 center or top pairing Dman, I’m probably exploring thatAnd we'd be looking for another top 6 winger. We'd also need to pay Rossi as he will be an RFA. I know people hate Laf but hes our best 5v5 scorer not named Panarin. The point for me would be to have as many 23 year olds as we can so we can actual build something sustainable.

Actually, I took it upon myself to monitor Key and Kreider that game. He had a hit, a blocked shot and 2 SM (shots that missed the net) that for some reason did not show up on the score sheet. Makes you wonder if the guys doing the official scoring are the same guys making rulings on goalie interference. Anyway, Kreider can twirl around the ice for 30 minutes a game, He just won’t engage in areas that can give him whiplash apparently, which definitely limits his effectiveness. I still think he can be effective on the PP because of his effective wrist shot, but either way his net front needs to be taken by Cuylle. Kreider being unable/unwilling to resume his net front presence is THE reason the PP stinks.“injured” Kreider vs. Kings had 19:24 TOI. That’s a huge number for a winger.
Oh, and zero hits. And zero shots. Zero player.
I’m willing to give it a chance. At least he knows how to implement a D structure, he just doesn’t have any decent Dmen. Also, if you don’t backcheck, you don’t play. And he can at least spell forecheck.Yah let’s see how Sully fares when he doesn’t have two all timers as his 1-2 punch at center. Hard pass.
