Addison and a 1 would be a massive win but I wonder if they really want to add another pure offensive RHD. I don’t have a problem with it, but I wonder if the FO would target someone else
Attempting to remove my bias, I’m looking at it like ADA and Shattenkirk probably won’t be here by the time Addison will be ready to get some NHL games

As much as I’d love a blue chip wing prospect for Zucc, he ain’t bringing one back
It depends on what you think is a blue chip prospect. He's definitely not getting us a Krastov type prospect, but a Howden type prospect I can see. Nobody gets blue chip prospects anymore, even the EK trade couldnt get one.

Agreed on the blue chip comments. You don’t typically get those guys anymore in trades, unless they happen to reach that level afterwards.

You especially don’t get them for players heading toward UFA and/or at 31 years old.

However, you can get good young players who have a chance to be very good NHL players. Generally speaking, these guys are usually in their D+2 season because you have a better understanding of how their development is going. To a lesser extent you have the D+1 and D+3 prospects who are also potentially in play.

As a very broad, very general concept, the highest likelihood is that you’re looking at the 2017 draft class in potential TDL deals, with members of the 2016 and 2018 draft classes being less likely possibilities.

So as everyone starts thinking about potential matches, and starts free-styling fantasy trades, 2017 is a good starting point.

I’m in the re-sign Hayes camp. But I can see the logic behind trading him. He is probably at his peak value now. Even more if he gets sign-and-traded. So while I like Hayes and would be happy to have him as a long-term ranger, this would be a good time to move him, too.

Zuc is worth a late first and a solid prospect.

Someone like Spooner is worth a mid-rounder aka a hope pick (hope you take a skinny kid with skill who matures or an NCAA project).

Hayes is good defensively but it's not like we are looking at Bergeron or Kopitar. I think we are getting a little carried away with his defensive abilities, he's good but I wouldnt be overly enthused to see him matching up against McDavid or Crosby. So basically we are looking at a average point producer and a good shut down guy, like a Kadri maybe, though I'd take Kadri over Hayes. I'm just trying to be realistic about it, I dont think we are getting the kind of return we got from Tampa for him,as i said before theres likely a lot of teams that would take him as a rental, but I think a lot of those would balk at giving him 6+ mill next year because hes a 3rd liner on a good team, much like I believe he will be in new york in 2 years. The one spot I do believe he could fit is Winnipeg though. But that's just my opinion.

Hayes is insanely underrated on here. He's obviously not going to get the same package as McDonagh, considering McD is a much better player relative to his position, but a 3rd liner on a good team? That's just absolutely ridiculous. Except for a few teams, most don't have 2 centers better than Hayes and those teams are stacked offensively.

Please tell me which 25 goal-50 Point centers play on their teams third lines.

Not that I'm against trading him, but you're acting as if he's going to get peanuts, he is easily worth a 1st + good prospect. The package should easily be better than Nash's.

Fowler out for a bit and Lebrun says they were shopping for a D already. We should really look to get lighter by one on defense here.

If the Ducks were smart they would start rebuilding right now. They should have started probably a year or two ago. They arent built to win it all in a very tough Western Conference, and with a aging stars. Start collecting on someone like Perry before he has no value because he is already a shell of what he once was.

Edit: And yes obviously is out until February/March. But deal him after the season if you can.

The Rangers and many other teams with deep farm systems have proven over the years that it doesn't always take an elite prospect or player to acquire an elite player in return. Sometimes it just takes a deep farm system where you can move 2-3 assets that a team likes without killing all depth in your system. Tampa did that with the McDonagh trade (where do you think they accrued the depth?). Picks and prospects are assets. They can be groomed to play in the NHL or used as trade chips in larger deals. Keep accruing assets and make the moves as needed for the right players to augment your team when you are close.

Basically, what I am saying is that even though the prospect + 1st rounder may not (it's also a possibility that they may) not exceed Hayes level of play, they are still assets to be used moving forward. Sames goes for assets from moving other players.

If the Ducks want help, they should just get rid of Carlyle. They’ve been a dumpster fire this season and are only staying afloat because Gibson has been insane.
