  • Kreider, Smith (50% retained), 2020 2nd rounder for Willy Nylander plus Andreas Borgman
  • Zucc and 4th to Dallas for Julius Honka and 2019 1st
  • Hayes to Carolina for Jake Bean and 2019 1st (conditional)
  • Namestnikov plus Claesson for Poolparty
  • McQuaid for a 3rd to a contender wanting depth D
Spooner + ev Shattenkirk dealt at next seasons deadline
Maybe deal Georgiev too? If Allaire thinks Shesty is ready
A Staal buyout is also possible if young guys are ready

Panarin - Zibanejad - W Nylander
Kravtsov - Chytil - Buchnevich
Andersson - Howden - Pool Party
Vesey - Fogarty/Nieves - Fast

Skjei - ADA
Staal - Shattenkirk (last year in Blue)
A combination of Hajek/Bean/Borgman/Honka/Pionk/Rykov

I wouldn't include Kreider in a package for Nylander.

Namestnikov Zibanejad Zucc
Kreider Hayes Lias
Vesey Howden Fast
Mcleod Chytil Spooner

Should give Lias a real taste over these next few weeks to show what he’s got.

Chytil is basically screwed until Hayes is dealt that I’m convinced of.

I don't want to suggest that Pionk is terrible or worthless. I usually chime in during the Nylander discussions because he seems to be relatively undervalued. A 60-70 point winger is nothing to overlook in today's NHL. But his zone entry/exit is elite as well. He can get the puck out of danger and generate a chance at elite levels.

An argument can be made whether we want to pay the necessary price, but I don't think Nylander is given enough credit. I think part of that is due to the Canadian media. Call it bias, call it them wanting TML lifting a cup. Willy holding out is raining on their parade. It's like a bunch of Mike Francesca's yelling at a 22 year old for not helping their team win.

This is my suggestion. Sit this one out in November. If Dubas puts on a show to prove his resolve, it's possible nothing happens by Dec 1. We would be one of the few teams left that could afford a trade during the season. We could certainly acquire Nylander and have him sit out. Value drops on the price, we drop in the standings, pick up a top line wing in time for our 2019 #1 pick. Not many teams would have the pieces for a trade and the circumstances to have him miss the season.

Holy f*** I would love for this to happen

Can I ask why? Just curious, don't mean anything negative by it.

Kreider should still be here when this team is competitive again. He's a known commodity - something that's very important but gets no respect.

Take another look at that lineup - Chytil, Kravtsov, Howden, Pulju, Andersson. This is a bunch of guys still getting their butts wiped by mommy and daddy and it's half of our top 9.

Pulju?

The real question is when Kreider's speed starts to deteriorate. It might not for a long time, like with Marleau. I'm sure the Rangers are testing his fast twitch muscles for signs of decline already. If they do keep him and sign him long-term, I'll be satisfied that their testing is showing good things. Just remember that his next deal will probably take him to 33 or 34, and that's a big risk for a non-elite player (there are some things that he is elite at: speed, tip-ins, etc... I'm talking overall).

It's a bigger risk when the average age of your top 9 is like 21, but for some reason, nobody talks about that as a risk.

I disagree with that being a bigger risk, because I don't think it's ever going to happen that way. Zibanejad will likely still be here. Buchnevich will likely still be here (unless we move him for an upgrade). Other players will come in.

Ah ok fair enough. Personally I'd probably do Kreider straight up for Nylander, no adds, but I can see why someone would be against that

Two very different kinds of risk, no? You take the risk of building a young core because there can be a lot of upside to that risk. The risk associated with signing an FA tends to be lower overall, but you're not hoping for upside, you're hoping the player stays as good as he's been for however long it took to be worthy of the contract.

Kreider @ 50% retained and Pionk for Slick Willie and Liljegren.

It fits Toronto's timeline of this year and next, fills their need at RD now and in the future since young Timothy isn't quite ready for the big time yet...

Who adds?

The Rangers are not winning without drafting difference making forwards. So many “people” here are nothing but Rangers apologists. They rationalize everything.

Those players are found at the top of the draft. The Rangers have tried to trade for high draft picks. Edmonton and Phoenix in 2016 to select Keller. They were able to acquire the 7th in 2017 but Pettersson went 5th. Vancouver was working on a deal with Buffalo to drop down from 5th to 8th and take Pettersson at #8 but they got cold feet when the Rangers traded for #7.

You guys act like the Rangers are the Red Sox and have won 4 championships in the last 14 years.

It’s about winning a championship. Nothing else matters.

I will be going to the game tonight to see Pettersson. Awesome player. The Rangers need skill and elite levels forwards like him.

More wahhhh.

Rangers win games and its wah.

And yet no one here is an “apologist”, just people that see a different route to the same goal. But hey those “apologists” are the crazy ones

Carey and Pirri were so much better than Lettieri ever shown in the NHL. Not even close.

Lettieri is 23... Pirri was 25 going on 26 when we signed him and he was shoehorned into a 4th line role in which he was never going to be successful anyways.

Vinny has time

When the Rangers signed Pirri he already had a 20-goal season in the NHL under his belt.
