Spooner + ev Shattenkirk dealt at next seasons deadline
- Kreider, Smith (50% retained), 2020 2nd rounder for Willy Nylander plus Andreas Borgman
- Zucc and 4th to Dallas for Julius Honka and 2019 1st
- Hayes to Carolina for Jake Bean and 2019 1st (conditional)
- Namestnikov plus Claesson for Poolparty
- McQuaid for a 3rd to a contender wanting depth D
Maybe deal Georgiev too? If Allaire thinks Shesty is ready
A Staal buyout is also possible if young guys are ready
Panarin - Zibanejad - W Nylander
Kravtsov - Chytil - Buchnevich
Andersson - Howden - Pool Party
Vesey - Fogarty/Nieves - Fast
Skjei - ADA
Staal - Shattenkirk (last year in Blue)
A combination of Hajek/Bean/Borgman/Honka/Pionk/Rykov
I wouldn't include Kreider in a package for Nylander.
I don't want to suggest that Pionk is terrible or worthless. I usually chime in during the Nylander discussions because he seems to be relatively undervalued. A 60-70 point winger is nothing to overlook in today's NHL. But his zone entry/exit is elite as well. He can get the puck out of danger and generate a chance at elite levels.
An argument can be made whether we want to pay the necessary price, but I don't think Nylander is given enough credit. I think part of that is due to the Canadian media. Call it bias, call it them wanting TML lifting a cup. Willy holding out is raining on their parade. It's like a bunch of Mike Francesca's yelling at a 22 year old for not helping their team win.
This is my suggestion. Sit this one out in November. If Dubas puts on a show to prove his resolve, it's possible nothing happens by Dec 1. We would be one of the few teams left that could afford a trade during the season. We could certainly acquire Nylander and have him sit out. Value drops on the price, we drop in the standings, pick up a top line wing in time for our 2019 #1 pick. Not many teams would have the pieces for a trade and the circumstances to have him miss the season.
Can I ask why? Just curious, don't mean anything negative by it.
Pulju?Kreider should still be here when this team is competitive again. He's a known commodity - something that's very important but gets no respect.
Take another look at that lineup - Chytil, Kravtsov, Howden, Pulju, Andersson. This is a bunch of guys still getting their butts wiped by mommy and daddy and it's half of our top 9.

The real question is when Kreider's speed starts to deteriorate. It might not for a long time, like with Marleau. I'm sure the Rangers are testing his fast twitch muscles for signs of decline already. If they do keep him and sign him long-term, I'll be satisfied that their testing is showing good things. Just remember that his next deal will probably take him to 33 or 34, and that's a big risk for a non-elite player (there are some things that he is elite at: speed, tip-ins, etc... I'm talking overall).
I'll never understand the fascination with formers top 5 draft picks busts.Jesse Puljujarvi.
Trade your power forward and then acquire this struggling 20YO who you hope becomes a power forward.
It's a bigger risk when the average age of your top 9 is like 21, but for some reason, nobody talks about that as a risk.

Welcome to the Top 6, Cody McLeod and Vinni Lettieri.
Carey and Pirri were so much better than Lettieri ever shown in the NHL. Not even close.
Lettieri is 23... Pirri was 25 going on 26 when we signed him and he was shoehorned into a 4th line role in which he was never going to be successful anyways.
Vinny has time
