Land of no calls..
It’s why I’m so intrigued by JT Miller. He’s the lightning rod they need and he’s a great player. Get him and Zegras.

I don't want to bring in someone on the wrong side of 30 to try and lead the team. I want them to build a culture around what they have now.

I'm also not particularly enamored with Miller considering the fact that he's in the middle of a ton of drama in Vancouver. Is that really what this team needs?

He will quickly be back to the player he was with a big minute eating defenseman next to him. Not make a wish Lindgren. Fox has been overplayed for years by this organization. He's got no help.
It's amazing how when it comes to fox it is ALWAYS someone else's fault.

Wasn't this all supposed to be fixed when he was finally paired with Miller? Then it's millers fault. Actual elite players often carry corpses around and make them better. With fox it's always about someone else or what he needs. Excuses are for losers...

I think that’s a fair counterpoint but they are desperately in need of a leader who can raise the teams compete level. I don’t think JT is the sole cause of the issue in Vancouver.

Miller and Fox were good together in their small sample, not sure why Laviolette went away from it. Fox needs a partner who can cover the ice. He’s not the best skater obviously. He never was, even in his Norris years. Not to mention teams take liberties and injury him constantly with no repercussions. Jensen & Aho. Nothing. It’s unacceptable. He’s the team’s best player

I absolutely agree with you on the leadership element. However I'd like to at least give these kids the opportunity to show that the guy we want is already in the room before we start looking elsewhere.

I don't think he's the sole cause either but there's enough smoke around him that he's a big part of it. Otherwise why would they have been so hesitant to extend him before? There's just something off there. The interviews he did earlier where he was gaslighting the reporters into thinking they're making up the rumors about the drama was... weird. He's been dealing with his own personal stuff as well. I'd just rather stay away from that.

I think it's Housley's fault. Some guys are so good they can outplay the system and the coach. Some guys can't. Fox is the former, Miller is the latter. But I think still believe Miller has a lot of potential and should be kept.

Igor and Panarin are by far the best players on this team. Fox is the one everyone wants to still be the best player. He isn't. He's 26 and his physical issues are showing more by the year. This isn't the first year of this. It's been happening for 1.5 or 2 years now. It's a trend if you watch him objectively

I’m not trading our only good defenseman who has Norris upside. Teams take plenty of runs at Panarin and Igor too.

I don't think fox has outplayed the system at all. I just don't agree with any of this except to say Housley sucks, and I said that the day he was hired.

He is never winning another Norris and he shouldn't have won it the year he did.

I mean the fact of the matter is he regularly posts well above average impacts in his on-ice numbers despite lugging around an anchor in Lindgren and playing in the same system everyone else is playing in. It's just the reality of things.

Lindgren is gone as soon as Drury gets his price. Probably a 2 and 3. Don’t think he’d bring back a 1.

He’s truly expendable once K’Andre is healthy

The Fox talks almost sounds exactly what the Ryan McDonagh talk was here before he was traded, slow, hurt, best years behind him. Two cups later, and still playing great for Tampa at 35.

It’s missing the issues with the team completely

And just like with Fox, the issue was him being the only decent defensemen.

I was randomly watching highlights of the 2016-17 team the other day. Quite a forward corps.

Nash-Stepan-Vesey
Kreider-Zibanejad-Zuccarello
Miller-Hayes-Grabner

And then your 4th line was some mishmash of Buchnevich, Puempel, Lindberg, Fast, and sometimes Tanner Glass for some reason.

Talent all over the place.

A lot of those guys were on the way down, Stepan chief among them, but that could have been a Cup contender with a decent defense corps. Instead it was McDonagh, a decrepit Kevin Klein, and four guys who shouldn't have been playing NHL minutes at that point.

I'm fine turning the page on this core, but I'm not fine with Drury making the deals.
Fox needs his beukaboom, a stay at home dman, that can deal with the muggings. A physical player that can retrieve pucks and get them for fox to exit the zone.
Up front we need a Jamie Benn style center and a rw like a young Rick Nash, strong on the puck but can score. Where are those guys? I dunno maybe Othmann fills one spot, the others need to be acquired.

It would be nice to get a dmen drafted that has offensive ability. If Hagans is gone, draft Schaefer.

And this is why hockey is funny. Dude shouldn’t even bring back a 6 or 7. He’s a detriment every time he’s on the ice but his reputation as warrior can get him a 2 AND 3.

Thanks to whoever does that!!
