How has Sam Girard looked in COL?

Would they consider flipping him for Kreider in a hockey deal? 2 years left at 5m vs Kreider 1 year at 6.5

Zac Jones is a better candidate because negative reinforcement has a chance of fixing his decision making of making horrendous pinches.

Benching Ryan Lindgren will not help Ryan Lindgren because 1) he's cooked and 2) he's not getting benched.

This is a man who understands dino coaches, zlev. Get with the program. Think like a dino. A petrodactyl, perhaps.
If you want a player to be a a shell of himself who makes zero plays and overthinks everything then you use negative reinforcement. Otherwise you can literally just tell them what you want them to do. And if you think they’re simply not one of your 6 best guys you can just scratch them .

the problem with this is Jones isn't good enough to make the plays he's trying to pull. that's kind of the whole issue.

Would be yet another R mgmt mistake
hi end futures = prospects + picks, no vets

The Rangers haven't had much luck with "hi end futures" and I don't think they want to be in year 5 of Igor's contract to be competitive.

Keep in mind that "mgmt" is at the beck and call of Dolan who isn't known for patient rebuilds. Drury's hands are likely tied by his boss.

My respect for Rempe went up a lot reading this quote.

My first year in Hartford, I don't think I played over 12 minutes once. I don't think I played a single second of special teams ever. So, I think that for me to go and suddenly play 18 minutes – not just be given that, but earn it, as well – and be very effective in those minutes, I think it's very beneficial. I think that means that my game came a long way."

I don’t know what he would return but Staple acting like the Rangers would have to dump him for nothing essentially seems like nonsense. Could he bring back a 1st and a good prospect? I think that a pretty reasonable ask.
Staple thinks Kreider is not enough for a rental like Frederic.

Chris Johnston thinks Kreider's $6.5M cap hit is reasonable for two more seasons.

1st round pick and a good prospect. He is not a rental.

Trying to find a player for player is hard. Kreider for a D. Which one? Lindholm in Boston is signed for five more seasons.

Regardless, if they don't go with [pref quality] youth and develop
and continue w/more of the same win now bs
they will continue to reap what they sow and go more of the same

Hence try it bern's way or accept consequences

I was thinking about Lindholm in Boston, they have Lohrei and Zadorov on the left side, the cap hits match up. Bruins get another scorer and the Rangers get a first pairing D to pair with Fox. It’s interesting. Perhaps the Bruins would like Lindgren as well. I’d prefer to trade Kreider for futures just to have as much cap room as possible moving forward but if the Rangers are looking for a player swap Kreider for Lindholm wouldn’t be bad.

It'll be consequences. I don't think Dolan, Drury, or Laviolette give a flying shit about "bern's way".

We had 8 1st rounders in 4 years (2017-2020) - "youth and develop" didn't work either for this club. It's 2024.

I was in Target today and I saw a guy wearing a Jason Robertson Dallas Stars sweater. Hat trick is coming.

I read some of the things Staple and some other beat writers produce and wonder if any of these publications that vet and hire these talking heads actually know anything about hockey

It could be Bishel and a 1st. Maybe we get more than that. I was just thinking about what it might take from Dallas' perspective.

If we're trading away Kreider, we're probably looking more toward next year. Dumba can be removed in a variety of ways if we don't want to keep him around for the final year of his contract.
BTW, Bichsel and a 1st for a Kreider is beyond a pipe dream. Totally not happening.
Kreider and lindgren at 50% for Bichsel and a 1st.
That would be amazing but I don't see Dallas relinquishing Bichsel. God knows Drury wants to collect all the 6'7" players in the league to form Hockey Exodia.

Kreider is going to get a similar return to what we got for Zuccarello, if he's traded. not even sure if it's worth it.
