again, do you want to pay Miller 7mil aav for 5 years or Desharnais 2mil for a season and a half? in terms of cap hit and year commitment he's a better value than Miller and Mika. you see how bad Mika is now? well he's signed for 4 more seasons after this one, imagine how bad he'll be then.

So we went from Desharnais is the 2nd best player in the trade to “so you want to pay Miller 7M”. That’s a giant back pedal on how good Desharnais is. I also very explicitly said just take both he and Miller out AND trade Miller elsewhere. And he isn’t getting anything close to 7M at this point regardless.

Mika at 50% retained, Perreault, Othmann, Miller and a 2nd for Pettersson and Desharnais who says no
Mika at 50% doesnt bother me.
Othman is ok to be moved for a #1 line player.
KAM has #1 skills but is very up and down even as a #2.
A 2nd is not a big deal. We just got a 3rd.

What I wonder though is Peterson really only 176 pounds? That is what ESPN has him listed at.

Miller is part of the value in the trade to get Pettersson, you definitely cant get him with just the two prospects and the 2nd round pick. yeah it would be nice if you could and then trade Miller for a 1st (like we got for Skjei) but it's not realistic. and ok, all things being equal Miller is better than Desharnais, but you still have to give him a fat contract. Desharnais is a nice defensive defenseman with a low AAV to fill a hole for a few years with no huge commitment.

Aren't Trocheck and JT Miller close friends? Drury should do everything in his power to get Mika to waive his NMC and swap him for Miller.

nah Vancouver would never accept that. Rangers get the best two NHL players in the deal. Othmann is nothing special and they get rid of Mika. Miller for Desharnais is a wash at best, Desharnais is much better defensively.
I dispute the above assessment
Oth may have to yet prove himself but I would not arbitrarily effectively say he is chopped liver.
KAM is up and down but way >>>>>>> Desh. who they are looking to unload
Desh has turned into a pylon

and sacrificing Gabe is a major wince
but you do convert Mika into EPett. so kudos on that

bottom line is sure try it, but VAN is not looking to move either EP or JTM

If being given away full retained for scraps, I think they take Zib, so I continue to recommend

Zib at half = 4.25
for
Raty, Juulsen,. Forbot and Desch

they can swallow Mika at that # and if things don't work out, retain again and flip him to a bottom feeder
this deal builds in acceptable risk for that

only downside to that is while lower level D, they get thin in D til replacements arrive

Not exactly, but mostly this^

gen agree but Desh is not a positive in any way since he can't skate any more
only thing here is our taking him gives more incentive for them to accept zib

im not trying to get out of it, i would absolutely do that trade

just for shits, what do you think it would take to get JT Miller from them instead?
JTM not available at this pt
if he becomes available
guess is he will have large say in where e relocates

Not surprised we got so little for KK. His value wasn't high around the league. On the other hand as much as we crap on K'Andre he has a LOT more value. I am not giving him away unless we are truly getting a very good young center around his age or younger. He is not gonna be just a throw in for a bigger trade.
