Wow. We get utterly bent over.

nah Vancouver would never accept that. Rangers get the best two NHL players in the deal. Othmann is nothing special and they get rid of Mika. Miller for Desharnais is a wash at best, Desharnais is much better defensively.

Land of no calls..
The only upcoming free agent that's worth a piss is Rantanen, and he's awesome.

Beyond Rantanen, it'll be a slow day.

I don't know who's on the list of free agents that's scaring you.

The Rangers and the free agent market doesn't inspire confidence in me. There's also never a guarantee that guys fit in properly no matter how good they are.

A wash at best? lolno. Vancouver is already trying to get rid of Desharnais before half a season is up, and he's only making 2mil. Miller is miles better.

Then you're retaining 50% on Mika and adding our only two remotely decent prospects and a 2nd for Pettersson. It's beyond atrocious.

Pettersson is 26 and is an elite 1C, you'd have to give up your best prospects for him. disagree completely on Desharnias, Vancouver wanting to get rid of him means nothing, as if a team has never undervalued their own players before. Miller could very well just be gone after this season too. anyway they'd probably want a 1st as well as a 2nd in that deal which would be a deal breaker even for me.

The two best players? Pettersson fine. We’re talking about the 28 year old Desharnais who has played all of 133 NHL games and has 1 NHL goal? He isn’t better offensively, defensively, building fences-ly or any other type of way. I don’t actually hate the proposal because it ride us of Zib but it’s too steep realistically, especially retaining 50% for a long time. Take out Miller and Desharnais. Move Miller elsewhere for an actual semblance of value.

Desharnais has great defensive metrics and only a 2mil cap hit for this year and next. Miller is RFA after this year, do you want to give him a deal like Brady Skjei got with Carolina after we traded him there? because that's what he's going to get. i don't. and you dont get Pettersson for just Perreault, Othmann and a 2nd.

They also get a center who, even when playing like ass, is good for 70 points at a 4.25M cap hit. If you think Vancouver still doesn’t take that deal, I don’t really take issue with that, but it’s disingenuous to talk about Desharnais this way. He’s a 7/8 who is barely IN the NHL. He’s 29 this season. There’s a reason he has about 100 career games. His “metrics” mean nothing when he plays against 4th lines and has never played a full season. A stretch of decent play in a sheltered role here or there is what allows him to hang on as a 7th. Pretending he is better than both Miller and Zib is the type hyperbole that ruins credibility. Miller is a young player having a horrible year on a team that is an absolute tire fire, devoid of leadership or defensive structure, where everyone has looked terrible. If he never recovers from today, the absolute worst case scenario for him is still 5x the career Desharnais has had/will have. That part of the argument is just silly.

I’m also in love with the fact that you proposed the trade and said “who says no?” and then proceeded to respond to every poster who said NYR by saying “no way, Vancouver”. Why’d you ask?

again, do you want to pay Miller 7mil aav for 5 years or Desharnais 2mil for a season and a half? in terms of cap hit and year commitment he's a better value than Miller and Mika. you see how bad Mika is now? well he's signed for 4 more seasons after this one, imagine how bad he'll be then.
