I'd be really surprised if Kreider is here beyond the deadline. He has term and when he's not playing his violin with Zib he's an all situations winger who brings size and is arguably the best net front presence in the league.

I do expect something akin to a Gaborik redux as the return, however. A good role guy who can be part of the next core, a conditional pick, and a higher end prospect who is maybe blocked and needs a change of scenery.

Haven't read Blueshirt Banter in years, but Fortunato is spot on here.

I'm getting tired of making this joke but leaders model behavior and Drury's unruined weekend attitude has finally rubbed off on players. Drury never held himself accountable when he was a Ranger. He seems to use loop holes to escape financial accountability with how he runs the club. The players in turn resent him and don't see accountability as a core value of the team. Of course, it's up to them to buck down and win games but they are probably so resentful they would rather watch the ship burn down then rewards Drury with undeserved success.

In a game where 1-on-1 battles are won in fractions of seconds, the player that wants it more will win a statistically more significant amount of those battles. The Rangers may be trying but they don't really want it and so they lose more battles, bumble more chances, commit more errors, and lose more games.

At the end of the day, the Rangers situation and future outlook for this season and beyond is dramatically different than when he signed.

Trading Kreider is the key to unlocking the next phase of this club - with Laf, Cuylle, Gabe etc as the new core... Its time for something like this.
