Great..now he's gonna fumble peoples orders

I'd be really surprised if Kreider is here beyond the deadline. He has term and when he's not playing his violin with Zib he's an all situations winger who brings size and is arguably the best net front presence in the league.

I do expect something akin to a Gaborik redux as the return, however. A good role guy who can be part of the next core, a conditional pick, and a higher end prospect who is maybe blocked and needs a change of scenery.

Haven't read Blueshirt Banter in years, but Fortunato is spot on here.

I'm getting tired of making this joke but leaders model behavior and Drury's unruined weekend attitude has finally rubbed off on players. Drury never held himself accountable when he was a Ranger. He seems to use loop holes to escape financial accountability with how he runs the club. The players in turn resent him and don't see accountability as a core value of the team. Of course, it's up to them to buck down and win games but they are probably so resentful they would rather watch the ship burn down then rewards Drury with undeserved success.

I will further summarize my feelings on the team (here forward referred to as “the cake”) by quoting Richard Harris’ (RIP, OG Dumbledore) MacArthur Park:

Spring was never waiting for us, dear
The Cup was never realistic for this core
It ran one step ahead
We were always missing a key piece
As we followed in the dance
Always a step behind the true contenders

MacArthur's Park is melting in the dark
We’re falling apart
All the sweet, green icing flowing down
All the promise of a few years ago is fading
Someone left the cake out in the rain
The team is rotten
I don't think that I can take it
I do not think that I can take it
'Cause it took so long to bake it
One cup in 85 years…
And I'll never have that recipe again
It feels like it’ll be a literal lifetime/never again when this team actually wins a Cup
Oh, no
Oh, no!

Thank you for attending my interpretative literature 101 lecture.

i'm just completely ignoring all of the "they aren't trying" or "they are trying to lose" or "they dont care" theories. i watched the game last night. they tried their asses off and couldn't beat the worst team in hockey. they aren't good.
In a game where 1-on-1 battles are won in fractions of seconds, the player that wants it more will win a statistically more significant amount of those battles. The Rangers may be trying but they don't really want it and so they lose more battles, bumble more chances, commit more errors, and lose more games.

Also, tbh people are saying you can't trade Igor and I actually disagree. You just have to be open and honest with him when you have the discussions.

"Hey, we're looking at moving in a retool/rebuild type direction. Is that something you'd want to be here through? If not, here are some places that might be interested in having you. Are you interested in waiving to any of these?"

At the end of the day, the Rangers situation and future outlook for this season and beyond is dramatically different than when he signed.

Trading Kreider is the key to unlocking the next phase of this club - with Laf, Cuylle, Gabe etc as the new core... Its time for something like this.

We all had fun with Will Cuylle's rally-the-troops moment and then went right back to sucking on Nashville's dust.

They signed him after Drury put the team on blast. He was always evidently part of the next chapter.
