I mean at this point if I’m the owner I fire Drury, fire Lavy either now or at the end of the season, and try to trade literally everybody except Laf, Foxy, and Igor. Whatever the result, it can’t be worse than what’s happening right now.

Dolan will fire Drury and proceed to order the new GM to ad at the deadline. He wants that sweet playoff revenue.

Wouldnt surprise me if Slats will get the interim gig.

I'd love to pry Khusnutdinov out of there but probably not realistic even if he's buried.

If I had to guess probably something dumb like Stramel.

Minny has a few interesting prospects(buium, heidt, ohgren etc…) but you’re absolutely right it’ll be someone like stramel or lambos. High pick who isn’t living up to expectations or shouldn’t have been a 1st rounder.

There is a real chance we are in the bottom ~5 in the league in a month.
Brooks mentioned the Rangers tough stretch. Playing 11 games against teams in playoff position out of the next 14 games. The first two games were against St. Louis and Nashville. I figured the Rangers would find a way to beat Nashville because they are a bad team. The Rangers found a way to beat Buffalo. The Rangers dropped both games. The Hawks have defeated the Rangers, Islanders and the Capitals in the last 9 days.

Seven straight games against teams currently in playoff spots. Chicago. Four more games against teams currently in playoff spots. The Vegas and Colorado games are part of a three games road trip. Utah is the last game and they have a 73% chance of making the playoffs.

Let’s be honest, if your best young players are Lafreniere, Chytil, Cuylle, and Schneider, your team is not going anywhere in the future. Another rebuild is probably the Rangers only recourse.

It’s hilarious. We sent out a letter detailing our plans to suffer for a while but to build a long term winner.

And those are the only pieces we got out of the whole thing. We wasted, failed to develop, frittered away every other asset.

So flippin’ tired of the apologists who blame the young prospects for not developing properly. It’s organizational. And this team doesn’t know how yo develop youth.

They’re not rebuilding lol
They should

Just get rid of the vets over the next year
That would constitute rebuilding. Keeping Fox, Lafreniere, Schneider and (unfortunately) Shesterkin doesn’t mean you aren’t rebuilding.

Kreider should have been out of here two weeks ago.

Labeling it means nothing. The Rangers have every intention of making the playoffs next year. They didn’t sign Igor, Fox and Laf forever to trade everyone. Changes will be good for this team, idk why everyone acts like the sky is falling.
Well then they’ve not learned very much of anything. So the team has never been good enough to win a Cup and their answer is to move out the losers for pennies on the dollar and then come back next year equally as untalented but leaner? They need to add tons of young talent to this organization. Thats largely done through the draft.

I like Drury's recent moves. Removing Goodrow and Trouba off the books without attaching assets. The Lafreniere and Shesterkin contracts seem to be in line or below expectations. I am not a big Drury guy. Some of his trades have been awful. Everyone knows them. No reason to ruin your weekend rehashing them. He knows the issues. Drury should be allowed to rebuild the team. It doesn't seem like Dolan has lost confidence in him. Trades. Waivers.

I know we can't keep harping on about it it, but not getting a game breaking talent with #1OA pick, plus barely getting an average NHLer out of picks 2, 7 and 9 really hurts anything you are trying to build
Look at Buffalo. They deff have had solid picks but it doesn't matter when the whole organization is ran like a lemonade stand

If all this chaos and drama and mediocre hockey gets Mika to waive this summer, I’ll gladly concede the season. Some big name UFA signings with the cap space cleared and a top 5 draft pick actually sounds kind of exciting. Drury could accidentally have a big brain moment.

I’m sure management doesn’t have the stomach for openly trying to suck, but it’s not hard to convince myself that this could be all for the best.

Not going to argue whether it was a good thing or right thing to do but the Trouba deal may have turned into a debacle for Drury. If he gets fired by Dolan anytime soon the reputational harm from that will likely make it real difficult for him finding another job. It will be back to the pizza ovens for him I think.

The best thing upcoming as far as the Rangers may be the February break for the 4 nations tournament. It might give them time to settle down but by then it's probably too late to salvage the season. It's also not that far away from the trade deadline so who knows.

In any case they're not watchable right now. All the bs between the Rangers locker room and Drury like I mentioned yesterday is too much like a soap opera for me. I don't think I'm all that far from walking away until September training camp. There is the WJC tournament and Hartford. I'm less interested in the 4 nations tournament and miffed enough at some of the Rangers players in it that I'm probably not going to spend too much time watching that. Anyway I can find other thing to do with my time.

Trade:
Kreider
Lindgren
Smith
Vesey
Mika

All for picks and prospects. Fire Lavi, Housley and Drury. Make Peca Interim with Muse. Go the rest of the way with:

Panarin-Tro-Laf
Cuylle-Chytil-Kakko
Othmann-Brod-Berard
Ed-Carrick-Rempe

Miller-Fox
Vaak-Schneider
Jones-Mancini

See if it can take ya. Probably not. In the summer have big cap and a huge number of assets to get what's needed. Sign UFAs. Make trades. Chytil and Kakko included.

That's it. Everyone purged. No one left. Everyone gets what they deserve. Haha

I think Drury is fine for the “get rid of guys portion.” But as you mentioned, most of his trades have been pretty bad. I worry he’ll create a reactionary, very one dimensional “grind it out” team that’s lacking skill, because he’s upset with the pond hockey tendencies of this team. The good teams can play both ways. Maybe Perreault, if he’s the real deal, will save him from himself. I’m also not convinced he can identify good defensemen.

Honestly if they really want to close the door on this era the big moves need to be Kreider and Panarin. Their big money rebuild nuking moves were those 2 and Trouba. Trouba is gone.

The obvious moves are obvious (Lindgren, Smith, Kakko) but those are minor.

If you want to make wholesale changes, you need to move wholesale names.

Im also 90000% sure Kreider will go back to being Kreider if he's moved.
Move Kreider to Winnipeg and we'll see if he can jump out of Lake Winnipeg in February .

Kakko will get traded to Minnesota and become a 30/30 guy by next season

Also again I’m willing to give Drury the chance to rebuild the team.

I kinda get thinking that but then I actually watch Kakko over skating pucks and getting his head taken off admiring passes like he did last night and realize he is probably just a 3rd line player.

Kakko himself is on a one-year deal.
I will put it another way.

I don't want a 23-year-old who is usually on the plus side of the ledger traded for an older player who can be acquired for near nothing.

To score 30 goals, you have to control the puck at least 30 times. I don't think he can do that.

I think he could.

He has more upside than Roslovic.

Just since KK is being mentioned..

Artturi Lehkonen went at the deadline a couple years ago to Colorado. He was a third liner. He's rounded himself into a solid top 6 player over there. That's kind of what I'd envision happening to Kakko. Lehkonen was traded for a 2nd round pick and a solid prospect at the time.

That's what I'd be looking to return. If they chose to move on from KK at least wait until the deadline so you can squeeze out some value. Don't make a stupid reactionary trade here and lose the deal. At this point I really don't know if I trust Drury to get good value though.

What makes you think Drury could build a team? Most of the players on the roster are leftovers from the Gorton/JD administration.

Of course he is. The new Sather. Teflon Dru.
