Looking forward to his riveting 12 minutes with 0 points, 0 shots, and a 0 +/- in response.

But enough about Kreider's statline....

Let the records show that the great KirkAlbuquerque was on the ground floor in hating Laviolette and wanting him gone, just like I was with Quinn and Gallant

Really? It wasn't done just to get him off the team when no one (eligible) would offer ANYTHING for him? They purposefully wanted to send him somewhere he didn't want to go? Come on. When a team waives a player in this situation it's not doing so to pick a destination for the player. That is out of their control. They are merely hoping someone ANYONE takes him off their hands. If Goodrow wanted complete autonomy over where he played, he should have had that stipulated in his contract. But he would have had to give to get, so he didn't. There was ZERO unfair about this. It was completely legal and in the spirit of the contract BOTH parties signed.
The NHLPA, agents and players ALL understand that NTCs, M-NTCs and NMC are different specific clauses that offer various levels of control. Goodrow COULD have negotiated for a NMC, likely giving up some salary, or could have signed with another team that was willing to offer a NMC. He did not. He and his agent are responsible for the deal that he willingly signed. He's not a victim. He was massively underperforming his contract and for NYR it was addition by subtraction. Totally within the team's rights, and totally above board.
You twisted it .

No, they purposely put him on waivers knowing a team he didn't want to go would claim him.

The part where he could have negotiated a better deal doesn't change anything. I think we're all in agreement that Goodrow didn't have a contract preventing him from waivers. It was legal. However, it's how management went about it with Goodrow that was shady. There's a blow up here for a reason.

Pretty pathetic response from Lavi, honestly. Older guys have sat? Cutting Zib’s minutes a bit or giving bad backster a night off isn’t the same thing as flat out scratching a guy that’s at least playing his limited role well and not being a detriment while not being given a ton of opportunity to do more than that. What a joke.

We need a 3rd party involved going forward.

The Paying Fans Association.

With ticket prices skyrocketing and players mailing in their careers with stugots money and total control of their position with a club, in a cap environment that hurts the fans more than anyone.

I think we deserve our own representation in these negotiations.

Unless the NHL wants to go the NFL root with Non Guarenteed Contracts. Then ill back off that stance.
You are foolishly assuming anyone cares what the fans think...sorry to break it to you -- they don't.

Laviolette responding to Kakko's comments to the media is pretty bad. He should have just left it at "I will keep my communications with Kaapo private" and "coach's decision" bullshit. He's defending the decision to the media? Yikes.

Noose tightening

I think a lot of people wanted that. including the founder and CEO of Colony Grill.

Yep. I’ve been on the side of the onus being on the players to bring more effort and that a coaching change, while eventually 100% needed, isn’t worth while until the core also is changed out, but it looks absolutely pathetic for the coach to feel the need to justify his choices with crap like “other guys have sat, blah blah” instead of just saying “that’s between Kakko and I”.

Why don't the players demand a trade then if they are so unhappy with management? honestly most of them, especially the vets, would be doing the team, and all of us a favor if they moved on. Also not opposed to getting rid of Drury and Lav at some point, just refuse to keep giving in to these spoiled brats who wilt at the slightest hint of adversity.

I also just want to point out that the last thing anyone complaining about the country club atmosphere should want, is for Drury or Lavi to get fired before significant changes are made. What better way to further embolden the players and reinforce they are the ones in charge than by once again giving them exactly what they want.

What would demanding a trade do for them? They'd end up in Canada or some American sh*thole like Columbus. Management signed them to contracts so why not simply wait their contracts out? Contracts go both ways. /shrug

Bad management is the root problem here. They are responsible for all decisions. That's what it means to be boss. The players may not be happy but nothing will be fixed until this org gets smart and competent management. The players will be turned over soon enough, but the shit decisions from up top will keep harming the franchise. And don't give me any sob stories about NMCs etc because it's management who handed those out too.

I don't think Goodrow is some contract law genius who fully understands the intricacies of all his clauses. He took whatever his agent got for him. His agent does not really have much of an incentive to fight hard to get his player a full NMC if the player doesn't list it as a hard requirement instead of a partial NTC since his fee is based on the value of the contract, not no move clauses.
Judge: because defendant wasn’t aware of this law during his arrest - this is a good basis for the case dismissal.
