Yep. I’ve been on the side of the onus being on the players to bring more effort and that a coaching change, while eventually 100% needed, isn’t worth while until the core also is changed out, but it looks absolutely pathetic for the coach to feel the need to justify his choices with crap like “other guys have sat, blah blah” instead of just saying “that’s between Kakko and I”.
Torts would have just said "because he stinks."

And then when the media pointed out that other guys stink, Torts just would have been like: "yeah..."

I miss Torts.

Kakko's problem is that he is defending himself saying he's not on the ice for goals against when he should be arguing from an offense perspective

Good for Kakko, Lavi sucks

Mika with a fiery response. A born leader.

In leadership, they say that your leaders model the behavior they want those under them to mirror. So if a leader yells at people, they signal to the team that yelling at people is acceptable behavior to get what you want. In Mika's case, he's clearly mirroring the "unruined weekend" vibe to the T. "Reduce my minutes? Lose again to Buchnevich? You'll have to try harder to ruin my weekend. <DJ music fades up>"

I think kakkos point is that he isn’t one of the worst forwards on the team. He is right.

Vet core for the most part has been worse and they’ve been untouchable. Lavi has scratched the guys who are easy scratches and not the ones who have been the most deserving.

HFNYR: Vince is the team's microphone

Vince: You wanna see some shit started?

Hey hearing this from Kakko is better than Kreider dropping a bunch of F-bombs after a loss to get Brooks' attention and then doing nothing for 2 weeks since. Is he ever going to tell us his #realthoughts about the Trouba trade? Or is Chris just upset the rangers traded the guy who he outsourced his leadership responsibilities too?

They get rested up for the most important minutes after a bunch of rookies carry the team.

Yes, all true. Just felt his choice of words was weak sauce

You twisted it .

"Really? It wasn't done just to get him off the team when no one (eligible) would offer ANYTHING for him? "
"They purposefully wanted to send him somewhere he didn't want to go? Come on."

No, they purposely put him on waivers knowing a team he didn't want to go would claim him.

The part where he could have negotiated a better deal doesn't change anything. I think we're all in agreement that Goodrow didn't have a contract preventing him from waivers. It was legal. However, it's how management went about it with Goodrow that was shady. There's a blow up here for a reason.
I'm not twisting anything. That's how your post read to me.
Anyway.
OF COURSE the fact that he negotiated a M-NTC rather than a NMC changes it. If he WANTED the protection of a NMC he should not have signed a contract WITHOUT one... Zibs negotiated for one. Igor just did. And both likely made a concession on their AAV to get it.

Goodrow signed a contract with a NTC where he knew he was waiver eligible and that ANY team, including those on his no trade list COULD claim him. He didn't "give to get" a NMC. He made his choice.

NYR after unsuccessfully trying to deal him to teams not on his no trade list put him on waivers where ANY team could claim him. As was their right. Did they KNOW who would claim him? They probably had a pretty good idea, but that was not in their control, and they received no considerations from SJS. PERFECTLY legal. COMPLETELY above board.

Yes there's a "blow up" for a reason: some people want to have their cake and eat it too. He wanted a NMC but didn't want to give the necessary concessions for it. He wanted to get without giving. It's irrational spoiled brat mentality.
