Giving Mika a total nmc and not having Igor signed without one before he ditched Trouba are two massive fails that are gonna hold this team hostage for years not to mention the Goodrow contract and the Buchnevich trade.

He's going Walter White tonight.

Watched a video of Mika' G7 goal vs Pittsburgh.

He wins a puck along the boards, gets it back and scores. ES goal. Ties it with 5 left in the 3rd.

So hard to imagine him doing that now. And that wasn't even 2020 when he was really good.
That goal was fundamental 5v5 hockey.

Win a battle, get it to your support, find soft ice for the pass.

It's the type of thing we don't see this team do nearly often enough.

Cuylle's goal the other night was another really nice hockey goal. He and Chytil do nothing but play solid 5v5 hockey. Lafreniere can be a bit grabass sometimes but I think he feeds off of how grabass his linemates are being.

Did LAK and VAN also "dress them down" or did they stink on their own on those teams? Or did a few unkind words ruin them for their careers?
You smash the kids confidence it's hard to get it back. It took 3 years for Lafreniere to get it back, those kids didn't get that opportunity. I'm not even saying Drury absolutely ruined them, they possibly would have ended up the same but the way he approached them was idiotic.

And a pending RFA. Big difference.
Not really. One more year of RFA for Kakko and if there’s an intent to resign Greenway. I’m not advocating for this trade but given where Kakko is in terms of his control over his contract as UFA - I don’t think the difference is that important

Looking forward to his riveting 12 minutes with 0 points, 0 shots, and a 0 +/- in response.
We know that’s what will happen but it would be so hilarious if he put the game of his life together, and then the Rangers immediately traded him after the game because they put “shake things up” into an AI program

Andersson was an entitled kid before he even got here. As was Kravtsov by all accounts. Was Drury heavy handed? Maybe, but maybe the Rangers were trying to set a different standard after they were forced into a rebuild by the frat boys on the team before the Letter went out. At the end of the day, the draft picks were bad and Drury didnt make them.

I don't disagree. The team sucks at defense and has had no accountability on their forwards playing defense since Torts.

You also can't just handwave how badly Kakko kills offensive possessions, and his bullshit turnovers were getting really bad leading up to the scratch, after a stretch of decent play.

It was coming, and I don't think anybody would think anything of it if they weren't more angry at other players. And those other players also got like half the ice time they normally do.

Which one was scratched and which one was benched feels like arguing over semantics. All of them have been disciplined and Kakko was among those that deserved it.

If anybody is absolutely getting away with murder, it's Lindgren, who gets to play 22 minutes with an all-world partner no matter what he does, but he doesn't have a NMC, so the solution to Lindgren is just fire him into the sun. That's on Drury.

I’m just going to say this, being scratched and benched are two very different things. I don’t need to go into why as I’m sure you are smart enough to know the difference. Plus the guys who were benched lol, played the game and was out for the final minutes of the game. There was time on ice taken away that was it and then lava said ok I’m a p***y, I’ll put those scrubs back on the ice. That tactic means nothing to me as a player. So I got demoted for a game, but I’m still out for the final minutes bc coach knows he needs me out there. It’s an oxymoron to the vets then instead we scratch no names who are not the main culprits. To send the proper message they need to be scratched, not take a day off for back spasms lol

Whether or not Kakko will reach his 2nd overall pick expectations is irrelevant. He's a good middle-6 player. In the right situation, he can score 60 points.

Tossing him aside because you are upset that he didn't reach his full potential seems pretty short-sighted.
He will never hit 60 points in the organization......and most likely, no other organization for that matter. Hopium is a nasty nasty drug.

Vancouver is looking for a winger and top 4 D. Lindgren and Smith to Vancouver. 50% on both players. 75% combined retention on Smith. 1st round, 2nd round pick and 4th round pick. Jim Rutherford likes to move early. Van acquired Lindholm from Calgary last January. In 2006, Rutherford acquired Doug Weight from the Blues in January. Late in the month.

Provorov's family like Columbus, Ohio. His younger brother is committed to Ohio State. That's 2 or 3 years away. He is interested in staying there if the contract is right. Takes a rental D off the market.

If a few harsh words from a boss destroyed their confidence they weren't ever making it anyway. Laf had a lack of confidence because of how he was utilized, not because someone "dressed him down". I'm not sure what was said to Anderson, but telling Krav he was quitting on his team, after he DID quit on his team, was warranted. I think the issue I heard about Anderson was that he was told to stay in Hartford to rehab instead of NYC.... which granted is pretty awful, but come on.
