Again, I will mention just because Lindgren got his pocket picked and Kyrou walked in all alone for a goal....

Drury really flubbed not dealing for Chychrun. I was interested years ago but he kept getting hurt and my interest dropped further and further. I figured the ask on him was going to be way too much given his durability issues. The fact that he was traded for a 3rd round pick years away and a veteran depth defender... and we instead ran it back with Lindgren, who is just as often injured... serious, serious miss there. This D core would be vastly better with that guy in the mix. What a shame.

Ottawa wanted a RD so who exactly was going the other way with Trouba blocking trades

I mean KK is scratched bc he’s getting dealt right?

You’d think but everything a disaster right now so we will see

Come on man. They wanted a RD? ... its not like they returned a significant piece. The guy was a throw in place holder. At the time Jensen was 33 years old. They wanted a 33 year old depth defender, and that was going to make or break a deal? Come on... I'm sure if we added in some value something could've been agreed upon.

Bern, you're saying no for one reason and one reason only. Kreider is your favorite player. I get it. The team has traded every one of my favorite players. But you have to look at it objectively. He's a big presence in a room that isn't working. His production is way down. His speed is slowing down. His replacement is already on the team. He's still worth some value in trade. His cap space can be better spent elsewhere. And, to your point, moving him is the BEST way to break Mika out of his funk.

In a perfect world, we'd be able to let Kreider be a career Ranger. Teams don't get embarrassed night after night in a perfect world. It's time to move Kreider.
fact Kreider is on the short list for my favorite player on current team, honestly, is moot
This is personal w/zib for me
He has to be made to totally capitulate by waiving
which can only happen now by him not playing

Amazing how it's everyone else's fault but Kreider eh? 😅
too many retorts, must pass for now..

Nope that's not it at all. Management and coaching staff have lost a eastern conference finals team in a matter of months and now they are competing with the worst in the league. We were a contender this year until the puck dropped, it's management, it's coaching and it's lack of effort from the players, all of it is tied together.
...
respectful disagree
it is more on the players
the most genius braintrust can't help if we don't have the horses

May be all of those things but not equally
Players w/few exceptions need to go
THEN we look at the staff and figure out what staff is best w/what we have/where we intend to go

Who says no in a Kakko for Cozens trade?
we do

Kakko is one of the (very) few players on the roster doing his job. Scratching him is laughable. I guess I'm not really surprised at this point. Rangers are the most embarrassing team in NY this year, and that's a genuine accomplishment considering the Jets, Giants, and Sabres exist.

Yeah so that makes him the odd man out around here. He just doesn’t fit

Bern, you never addressed any of the points in my response. Kreider's play is in the basement. He's a player who, due to reputation, would bring a decent return. He's a guy who has SEVERAL potential replacements who are younger and performing better. His cap hit, while not bad, could be better applied towards a top-4 LHD. What is the logic for NOT moving him? There is none. To paraphrase a passionate poster on this site, no sacred cows. :).

As for Zib, as with you, he's the player I'm MOST aggravated at. But again, we need to apply logic. Right now, Zib can't be moved. Even if you manage to piss him off enough to waive his NMC (and I don't think that's likely to work), who is going to trade for him at that cap hit for another half decade? Other teams can also see how he's playing. And if we DID somehow manage to move him, who replaces him? Trocheck and Chytil are the only other top 9 centers in the entire Rangers system. Top 6 centers are difficult to acquire. They rarely hit FA. They aren't often available for trade. The team needs to try to fix Zibanejad. Not because he deserves more chances, but because we're stuck with him either way.

At this point I think a 7.8mil dead cap hit might be more useful on ice than Mika Zibadejad
We got Kreider on a 2 on 1 angling toward the wall, instead of a slot drive, to throw a wide lateral pass to Smith for an easy shot to eat up, and Zibanejad on a 2 on 1 with Berard muff the puck then recover to throw a muffin on goal

You really want to give Kakko 4 million AAV? He seems like the type of player you could replace with Berard or Othmann on the cheap. Going to need money to rebuild the defense and pay Igor.
Kakko wasn't even supposed to be here this season. If they can get a second and prospect with a Blair Betts ceiling you call it a day.

Saw that Othmann has started skating again. I have to think Kakko's days are numbered after yet another scratch. If we are going to have a slow forward on the roster at least let it be a guy who will mix it up a little.

If we could even get a solid defensive defenseman in, i think it would be a big win in a Kakko trade and make us better.
